Everything looks good. I went ahead and made the first post. We can use this OOC to discuss anything we need.
Jinichiro traversed the bustling streets, all the humans scampering about utterly oblivious of the being that walked among them. He looked just like any other human -- well, to be fair he was quite a bit more attractive than most -- and he knew their behaviors well enough to blend right in. They were all so relaxed, so secure in their ignorance; he could have any coin purse he wished for in the crowd, he could swindle any merchant out of any product he desired, and he would daresay that he could seduce just about any man or woman around. However, it was all too small, too easy. Sure, such pranks were good for a quick laugh, but he wanted something bigger. He wanted children to sing songs of his mischief, he wanted his name to be a taboo. But to do that, he needed a bigger target. As things were, he simply had his coin pouch hanging out of his robes in plain sight. It would indeed be the lowest hanging fruit for any thieving urchins seeking to line their pockets.

In a busy town like this, it didn't take long. A light bump, a hasty apology, and the coin purse was gone. It was amazing how humans were indistinguishable from fish when presented with the right bait. The thief thought he had robbed a naive young man foolishly sauntering about with his guard down, but Jinichiro was locked on to his target the moment the thief's hands touched his pouch. It didn't matter how big a crowd the thief tried to disappear into; Jin's keen eyes would not lose him, especially when he oh-so-predictably darted for a secluded ally, undoubtedly to appraise his catch. That was the moment that Jin wanted to see, for his friend would not find what he expected.

The thief untied the strings of the pouch with ease, peered into it, and then let out a shriek of horror. He reflexively tossed the pouch away, but it was too late. Three giant centipedes sprung out of the pouch and entwined themselves about his arm. He swatted, he flailed, but he ultimately accomplished nothing. He squeezed his eyes shut in terror, waiting for the voracious bugs to feast on his neck, but no such bite came. He peeked out from behind his eyelids and saw the coin purse tossed aside and a few small reeds lying on the ground, nothing more. Jin had been there for the whole thing, but held in his laughter for the moment; he still had to deliver the punch line. "Is everything alright?" he asked, looking down at the would-be thief's dazed face and offering him a hand. Apparently he had a fear of bugs, for the man was utterly inarticulate, but he eventually managed to grasp Jin's hand to accept some help off the ground. When their hands touched, though, Jin let him see. He let the thief see his ears, tails, claws, and fangs, all embellished with a pleasant smile. This was too much for the man. With yet another cry of the purest terror, the thief scrambled away, turning the first corner he came across, and continuing as such until he was gone.

Easy... but satisfying none the less. Jin was holding his stomach with laughter, doing all he could to avoid collapsing. He was drawing some attention, but he didn't really care. They would just think he was doing drugs in the ally or something. Humans were narrow-minded like that; they always assumed that people who acted strangely were the ones with something wrong with them. He wiped a joyous tear away, and finally regained his composure. That prank would gain him no notoriety, nor was anyone likely to believe the thief's story, but his reaction was priceless.
I'll start by posting my character here. You can post yours when you have it ready.

Name: Kongetsune Jinichiro, or Jin for short

Age: 230

Appearance:

Personality: Impetuous and aloof, Jin is a kitsune that takes things as they come. He rarely makes plans, and when he does, he rarely follows them. He seizes opportunities as they present themselves without any thought of consequences. However, he is always true to his word. The one thing he will not do lightly is make promises, and he would never betray anyone fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to call him a friend.

Backstory: Even among litter of mischievous fox cubs, Jin was the most troublesome out of all of them. He knew his manners yet deliberately chose not to use them, he would always push the boundaries of what his mother permitted him to do, and nobody was off-limits for his pranks, not even his own family. He scoffed at the words of caution his elders gave him about choosing his battles carefully, yet somehow he survived his rambunctious childhood and lived to become a rambunctious adult.

Jin considers his greatest achievement his “assault” on Kado Village. Not content with messing with single passersby, Jin began an enormous campaign of pranks on the village, from tearing clothes that were hung out to dry, to putting thorns in people’s sandals, to putting villagers’ possessions in one another’s homes to make it appear they were stealing from one another. He only relented when the village elder concluded that they were cursed by an evil spirit – not far from the truth – and they made a monthly offering to appease it. Jin hasn’t gone back to check if they still make the offering, but he likes to brag about the incident. Now, he travels where the wind takes him, looking for something that can top that conquest.
Thank you for your interest everybody. This thread attracted more attention than I expected, and unfortunately I don't have time for any more RPs in my schedule. But, perhaps all of you who expressed interest could set up 1x1s with each other using these ideas! Best wishes to all ^_^
Would you be up for another? It's been far too long since I played some decent Eastern fantasy.

Perhaps. Did any of the ideas I posted interest you, or did you want to suggest something else?
Hello everyone! Fantasy is a genre that pops up quite often in these forums, and I love me some fantasy, but it almost always seems to be some kind of Western fantasy. I'd like to switch up the aesthetics a bit and start an Eastern fantasy RP. Instead of knights, elves, and orcs, there will be samurai, kitsune, and oni. Just as Western fantasy takes place in fictional worlds based off of medieval Europe, I'm looking for a world based off of feudal Japan. Interested? Well, here's what I'm looking for in a partner:

~Be able to post at least once every day or so. Missing a day here and there is fine, but I'd like to keep things moving. And if we hit a groove and post multiple times a day, that's good too.
~I generally post about 2-3 paragraphs per post, more depending on the circumstance. I'd like you to be in that range as well. Also, proofread your posts please.
~For the main characters, I play M, you play F. Romance is cool, smut is not. We will fade to black if that comes up.
~Be able to contribute to the plot and flesh out the world with side characters.
~Blood, violence, gore, and profanity are all fine with me.

I don't have a specific plot fleshed out (it's often fun to build them as you go in RPs) but here are a few potential ideas:

-A quest to stop the appearance of malevolent spirits.
-A samurai is tasked with protecting the daughter of a powerful feudal lord.
-Mischievous fox spirits bite of a bit more trouble than they can handle.
-A web of aristocratic intrigue develops as multiple families compete for the privilege to marry a powerful heir.
-A feudal lord tries to fulfill his ambitions

Feel free to modify these ideas in any way, or suggest an entirely different one. I want to build an RP together. If interested, either post here, or PM me.
I might be interested in Samurai x Kitsune. What did you have in mind for that?
Seeing all the armies and stuff I pull out my dragon whistle and call all the dragons in the realm to me. I bribe them with shiny rocks to serve me as my personal legion of terror.
Name: Rowan Cage
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Appearance: Lean and unassuming with short brown hair. He generally wears slacks and a gray hoody to keep his portal blasters and hidden blades concealed. His skin has become rather pale from spending so much time in laboratories. Also, his eyesight isn’t so great, so he wears a pair of glasses.
Method of Travel: Paradox Engine – A small metal cube that opens up dimensional rifts by creating a complex time paradox. It first sends a signal to itself one second into the future; that signal causes it to send a detonation signal two seconds into the past so that it would have destroyed itself before it sent its detonation sequence. This shatters the space-time continuum, causing the Paradox Engine and its wielder to be removed from that reality altogether after the first signal was sent but before it was received, thus preserving both the engine and time, and transporting the wielder to another world. This device is regarded throughout the multiverse as one of the most convoluted means of travel, but it gets the job done.
Powers:
- Awesome parkour skills.
- Competent swordsman.
- Excellent perception. He can easily pick a person out in a crowd, see through even the smallest flaws in a disguise, and has unusually good navigation abilities in new areas.
- Hidden assassin blades under each wrist.
- Portal Blasters: The latest in Aperture technology, they take the indispensable utility of the Portal Gun, and deliver it in a new compact form. The portal blasters take the form of a pair of devices the size of a wristwatch. Right hand shoots blue portal, left hand shoots orange portal. Either one has the ability to levitate objects. The portal technology has also been improved to allow portals to be made on *any* flat surface.
Personality: Generally friendly and sociable, but with a healthy amount of cynicism. Rowan will talk to just about anybody about just about anything… except science. Lord has he had enough “science” for one lifetime.
Starting World: The earth that is run by Abstergo
Backstory: It was supposed to be a typical insomnia study. Rowan had been having a hard time sleeping so he figured he may as well participate. It turned out that white walls and fluorescent lights were just what he needed to get to sleep. When he woke up, though, he found himself hooked up to a strange machine that the science dude was calling “Animus.” Apparently, his ancestors liked stabbing people. A lot. They also liked running around buildings. He didn’t know how long he was hooked up to that machine for, but after reliving his genetic memories so many times he felt himself begin to acquire the skills of his ancestors. It was time to make his escape.

After snapping the wacko scientist’s neck, slipping though the security shutters, and running up a down escalator, Rowan suddenly felt the ground give way under him. Nothing broke… except space itself, and he found himself in yet another white-walled room. He had no idea where he was, only that the cybernetic voice that was chastising him wanted him to use the “Portal Blasters” to get to the exit. He vexed the psycho-computer at first with his awesome parkour skills, but eventually he was plunged into rooms where it was physically impossible to escape without the use of the blasters.

After what seemed like an eternity, he found a crack in the computer’s defenses, and made it into the inner sanctum of the facility. There he found a strange metal cube with a red button on it. Despite the supercomputer’s warnings of the device’s indescribable danger, Rowan picked it up, and pushed the button. He was free! But where was he…
