@Billsomething Sure thing man.
I'm trying to give everyone a chance to post a bit before I push the plot forward, but there will be stuff soon. And I want to resolve this infighting business.

SIGIL CLOUDFURY

Sig's brow deepened with his impatience. Nyx's first stage of training had to be done before nightfall; he meant to mobilize the guild in the coming days. She was crucial to his plans, though he dared not let that thought slip into the telepathic stream between them. One way or another, she would cooperate by the end of the day.

The dragoness threatened him, and Sig reacted instinctively as she approached. He stepped aside, twirling the grapple off his belt in a smooth motion. He threw the rope in a high arc, circling the bone at the front of Nyx's wing, and the two blades at its tip hooked down and penetrated the wing's membrane. Sig tightened the rope, letting the dragoness savor the celelyrium bite. It was a basic dragon-slaying technique - the wings were fragile, and the more they struggled against the hook, the greater the tear would become, eventually inhibiting flight. Sig did his best to stay under the wing and away from Nyx's mouth - though the rope was made of rockwool and would not burn, dragonfire would melt it with enough time.

"Where is your pity!?" Sig yelled. "Its mind is broken, it is just an animal now, a wild beast. Put it out of its misery and be done with this."

Alongside the words, he sent thoughts at Nyx. This is your duty, now. Many foes will hunt us, both man and dragon. If a dragon sought to kill you, would you not defend yourself? If a dragonrider came to slay your family, would you not protect them? Sig tightened his hold on the grapple, hoping the pain was enough to motivate the dragoness. If you cannot kill, you cannot survive this world.

SIGIL CLOUDFURY

The Dome's eastern gate fell heavily behind them, throwing up sand and dust. Sig walked on, leading the dragon known as Nyx deeper into the complex. The Dome surrounded a huge section of the guild, enveloping many of its buildings, a perfect cage for dragon slaves to flutter about in while they fulfilled their duties. But it served a second purpose: the Dome was a bulwark against rival dragon riders and other dragons alike, forcing them out of the sky. The guild was nearly impenetrable when fully manned.

Our goals, he said to Nyx through telepathy. They are many, and perhaps one day I will share them with you. For now, they only thing you need to know is that we seek the Fallen Stars. Sig stopped, turning his gaze to meet Nyx's eyes. That is why I would like these tests to be concluded shortly. There will be another campaign soon, and I need your cooperation. It is best for both of us if you fulfill what I ask of you without hesitation.

Still deeper they walked. Sig did not give Nyx a chance to speak. He would not, until she had passed her first test.

The Guildmaster finally stopped before a small windowless building. Its exterior was old sun-bleached stone, but a large gate of celelyrium was build in the front wall. At their approach, the sound of steel scraping stone could be heard within, but not even the harsh Solisian sun could pierce the darkness that hid inside.

"This is your first test," Sig said, unlocking the gate and heaving it aside. From within the darkness there was a gleam of two amber eyes, and a beast lunged forth into the sun, screaming, hissing, spewing erratic bursts of flame. Celelyrium bonds held back a veridian dragon as it thrashed. It was emaciated, hardly any tone in its muscles, and its underbelly was sickly pale.

Sig knew the beast well. It was his last attempt to train a new mount, and a miserable failure. He stood casually to the side, leaving Nyx to face it.

"Kill him," Sig said coldly. "If you cannot do this, you are no use to me. It is restrained and starved. It should give you no trouble."

@Ambra
Theo weighed his options, his mind racing. Punch the thing? He asked himself. Literally everything I know revolves around using a sword. And his blade was currently stuck in the face of a reeling monster.

A red glow streaked past, and the Sundancer's first thoughts were fireworks as a loud bang and a flower of fire erupted on the mosquito. Theo's head spun to see Dead Dan behind him, skillfully wielding his staff. Theo had completely forgotten the presence of his allies, endlessly pouring out of the small stone shrine.

There was another one nearby, he saw, and then he saw a glint of steel that caused him to recoil in alarm. Is she pointing guns at me!? Something hissed through the air nearby, impossible to see in the night, striking the ground near him like gunshots. The mosquito spun, wings ablaze by the Lich's fire, frantically searching for the source of the noise.

Invigorated by the help, Theo charged at the beast. It was distracted, and he put two tight fists on the hilt of his sword and pulled, dislodging it. The monster buzzed loudly, flailing its long clawed legs, but Theo stepped around them, ducking under the spear-stinger. He drew up and cried out, smashing his sword into the eye-like sacks on the mosquito's face. It buzzed louder, black ichor sputtering from the wound, before finally falling to silence.

"These things are way harder to kill than mosquitoes ought to be," Theo said to nobody in particular. Everyone else was busy, thick in the swarm of monsters. I really don't want to find whatever these things normally feed on.

The Sundancer quickly scouted another beast. I have to use what little speed I have, even in the darkness. His next foe approached after be banged on his breastplate to draw its attention. It charged. Remembering his last encounter, Theo carefully sidestepped the stinger and slashed hard into the sky. The mosquito passed overhead, driving itself directly into the blade. Its flesh parted and it buzzed angrily, facing Theo in a movement that was half-turn, half-spasm. It struck out with its legs and Theo pushed himself between them, his own legs a flurry of motion in the tall prairie grass.

"Die, you bastard!" He cried out, turning his body, his blade following in a wide horizontal arc. He struck the eyes again, and the beast died.

Theo breathed heavily. "I don't know how much longer I can keep this up," he said. To his relief, the ranks of the creatures were dwindling thanks to the combined efforts of the large group of super-powered humans. Swordsmen, mages, gunslingers, fighters of any kind, all faced off against their strange enemies. There was even a dragon in the mix, Theo saw, though it seemed to be on their side. Dragon tamer? Badass.

The Sundancer looked at the sky. I wonder how long the night will last. I feel less than helpful right now.
@Letter Bee Not at all, I did ask. When I said "dark", though, I meant more on a sort of Lovecraftian broken reality indescribable galactic horror sort of thing, existential stuff. I'm not particularly interested in gore/rape/insanity (maybe a bit of that last one though) for this one. If that changes your mind, great, if not, no big, I was just curious on your thoughts.

@deadpixel101 No worries, if you're out of the game for a while and wanna come back you can always shoot me a PM to get caught up.
@Letter Bee There's always room for new players. What part of "dark fantasy" doesn't agree with you? My own interpretation of it might vary from yours.

@LetMeDoStuff Thank you for coming back! <3
@ravenDivinity I'm just waiting on the other dude, or something eventful to happen. If @GummyCat doesn't post before long I'll just redirect myself.
@sMoKe Are you okay!?
