Fab, when it comes to portraying a character believably, you might be the best this site has.

There's no need to build a labyrinth when the entire universe is one.

Bio

Well, this was my account. Had my fair share of memories of the guild, both good and bad. I hope you all have a great time here and keep getting better at RPing and writing. Myself, I've fallen out of love with roleplaying in general, and this site in particular. There's still good people here, but I've learned enough and seen enough that I'm not confident this site is going good places. Tanderbolt's moving on. Where am I going after this? I don't know, but to quote Raymond Carver, "I'm always learning something. Learning never ends.". Good night, ladies, good night

Adkins comes from Adam, which means red earth. It's a little roundabout, but I really wanted to have that last name.
Tetsuo fished some cash out of his pocket to pay for the next drink. "Believe me, I wish I could get out of here before the fun starts. I've got a duty to solve this, if I didn't try I'd be disrespecting Kotetsu. I know that some heavy hitters show up to the White Night, but I'm not going to give up my principles just because I'm scared of losing a fight."

Tetsuo got up from the bar and walked around a little before starting on the next drink. "Well, whoever it is, at least they don't know I'm looking for them yet. I don't keep up with all the mage politics around here, so I'm a bit of an outsider. People from Rokuro tend to be pretty decent, but special events like this can bring a very different crowd. I wonder where those guys hang around." He sat back down at the bar, and drank his second beer slower than the first.

"Once you’ve been through hell you wonder how people live so carelessly.”

Name: Thomas Adkins

Age: 37

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Appearance: (Additional appearance information. Height, weight, outfit, etc. Here include any body alterations such as mechanical/missing body parts or anything of that nature.)
The only outfit he wears is his uniform, no matter the occasion. He even keeps his gas mask on, he feels uncomfortable appearing in public without it. Not many people have seen his face, but they say he’s pretty ugly and has an impressively messy beard underneath.

Color: Grey

Symbol:

Semblance: When he’s on the verge of losing consciousness, he can force himself to get up and keep fighting. He doesn’t heal or recover from his accumulated injuries at all, it merely dulls his pain allows him to endure beyond his normal limits of durability. The strain on his body means that it takes him a full day to recover afterwards, he cannot do it again until he has had this time to recover.

Personality: (optional)

History: Thomas came from a poor mining town , built on a dust deposit far from civilization. The only opportunities were working in the mines or manning the fortifications that held off the Grimm. His parents left him little guidance, leaving him to be raised by his Grandfather, a war veteran. Grandpa actually encourage him when he roamed the streets picking fights with other youth who had nothing better to do, because he saw it as a way to toughen up. The years went by and Thomas grew stronger and more skilled, and became the first person from his town to be accepted to a huntsman academy. For once the people had something to celebrate, and everyone wished him well as he went to attend Atlas Academy.

Atlas Academy taught Thomas discipline and stoicism. He struggled in some of the more academic classes, but always earned high marks during combat assessments. Thomas enjoyed his time there until he heard that the situation in his hometown was growing worse and that there was an urgent need for more manpower. He left the academy to join the army as a regular soldier, not a huntsman, so that he could defend home in its hour of need.

The situation never got any better. Every Grimm attack led to more casualties, more suffering, and more Grimm. The frontlines were a perpetual meat grinder, where soldiers were just another resource to stem the tide. Thomas survived endless assaults and counterassaults, which hardened him even further. The commanders weren’t concerned about casualties, even artillery barrages that annihilated their own soldiers were acceptable as long as it kept the Grimm at bay.

Thomas could mark the passage of time by how long it had been since his unit had been resupplied and by how many of his comrades had died. After a while the generals made a decision that the town was no longer worth protecting (possibly related to the depletion of the dust mine), and pulled out any assets deemed valuable. Others, like Thomas, were ordered to hold their position until a nonexistent relief force arrived, under penalty of death for desertion. He obeyed this order and held out, fighting on as attrition slowly took its toll.

In the end only Thomas was left. All of the others who had fought alongside him had long since disappeared or been killed in battle, leaving him alone in the ruins. He scavenged around and survived for years, completely isolated from the rest of humanity. His life was without purpose or direction, just driven off an impulse to survive. His isolation was broken when he encountered a group of salvagers risking their lives to explore the ruins. In exchange for his help navigating the area, they offered him passage back to civilization. He accepted, because it finally occurred to him that there was a world outside of this warzone.

His years and experiences on the battlefield still haunted Thomas in civilian life. Legally, he was missing and presumed dead, and certain to be court martialed if he contested this. More practically, he lacked any skills other than fighting and had no support network. All the years of war have left him uneasy with peace and the comforts of everyday life, and given him little in the way of moral guidance. At present, he lives a reclusive life and takes jobs from anyone who needs someone who can fight, without any plans beyond simply surviving until the next morning.

(Did I miss anyone with completed sheets? I saw a lot of WIPs.)

Your characters are accepted ^^ You can post them in the characters tab.

Though I do agree that personality and history are important, I think in this case the GM wanted to keep some mystery between our characters, which is why V made it optional. I will be adding a Personality since I usually feel I need one, but otherwise it's up to the player what they want to include.

My sheet was completed.
Here's my character.

I think this has a lot of potential, I'm interested.
@Raineh Daze
I don't have any plan for who murdered Kotetsu (and frankly there's a number of characters in this RP who'd make good culprits), and I left the details of the murder vague because of that. If anyone has a ideas, I'm open. The weapon that Kotetsu and Tetsuo were working on was a mana-powered exoskeleton, but neither of them had all of the parts to complete it on their own. If this idea doesn't fit with the setting or would be overpowered, I could make it something else or just say that it proved to be impossible to build in the end.
Tetsuo downed the beer quickly. He said "Guess news gets around fast here. Damn it, I didn't think it'd be like this. I mean, he was joining in the white night, and I knew that the odds of him making it out weren't good, but I just wanted to see him one last time. I wanted him to wait a bit, but he kept saying that this might be the only time for him to be part of it. He had all this stuff planned out, not just about what he'd do during the white night but how he'd say goodbye to everyone. His whole life was leading up to it, and someone killed him before the whole thing even started.". His voice was a low monotone and there was a small tear in his eye.

He looked around the bar for a bit while he regained his composure. The interior was old and ornate, it was strange to see what was a bar mostly populated by eccentrics and outcasts so lavishly furnished. Of course, everyone in the magical community knew that this wasn't just a gathering place for weirdos. A lot of important business happened here, especially when a white night was approaching. He asked "Kotetsu didn't talk much about his social life. I don't know if there was anyone with a grudge against him, or if someone wanted his stuff. It looked like they stole some of his gear, but they knew what they were looking for. Do you have any ideas?"
I'm interested, trying to decide whether I should modify a character from an old RP or make one from scratch.
Tetsuo usually stopped by Rokuro every few months. Most of the time it was to visit his brother or make a quick buck off of mages looking for an advantage when the white night was coming. More recently, he'd made regular stops to help his brother get ready, but this time his brother never answered the doorbell. What Tetsuo found in the house was a grisly sight, somebody had killed his brother and done a messy job of it. The local police were looking into it, but Tetsuo wasn't confident that they'd be able to find anything. All he had figured out is that some Kotetsu's magical items were missing, but it was only a few, and none of his mundane valuables were stolen. If someone took them, they were definitely knew what they were looking for.

Finding out who had killed his brother was Tetsuo's top priority right now. He wasn't much of a detective and the police had asked him to leave the scene, leaving him with little information. Eventually the cops would release what they found, but Tetsuo didn't want to just sit around and wait. He had few leads, but he decided to start with what he knew about Kotetsu's social life. There was one bar that they liked to visit together, he didn't know if Kotetsu went there regularly but it would be a good place to start. It took him a considerable amount of driving around town to find it, especially after he passed the same park three times, but he did get there eventually.

Parallel parking his RV was a challenge even when he found the space for it. The building looked out of place and had a "mages welcome" sign just like he remembered. He hesitated a bit before walking in, going here without his brother felt strange. Tetsuo took his time and found a seat at the empty bar. He said to the bartender "Could I get a glass of Suntory Malt? Today's been a downer, and I need something to get my mind off of it." Although he remembered seeing the woman before, he didn't know much about her. Maybe they'd talked before, maybe he'd even sold her something once, but he couldn't be certain.
