And it's impossible to edit a status. Wonderful. I meant to say my hard drive is down; I'm working out of a flash drive now.

Whoops. That's one flash drive destroyed. Kids, take good care of your toys! For those concerned, thank you! I don't have any storage, but I do have access to a browser; roleplaying continues!

Ah! That's what this is! It's my old role-player guild account!

Hello, folks, from a friend new and old. Old in that I spent many happy hours fictating way back in Old-Guild before Lost Christmas, and then I spent some time in New-Guild during its beginning development; new in that I've been gone for two years, so a lot of the "faces" I was familiar with back then don't seem to be haunting the place these days. Whether you've known me before or not, I extend to you a hearty greeting and a virtual feast. If you'd like a name shorter than the full one, please call me Taro. I'm rather comfortable with that one.

Well, you didn't come here just to hear about my history. You're probably looking to see what kind of a role-player I am. Truthfully, I'm not totally certain right now; two years without practice does bring on a multitude of changes. Then again, even in those two years I've kept the creative spark fed and fanned, in isolation though it may have been, and I can tell you this much with great certainty:
I like light-hearted laughter, soul-searching questions, and that precipice of commitment.
My favorite settings would be:
High Fantasy
Modern Fantasy
Science Fiction (new worlds, a newer Earth, even just in the immensity of space)
I consider it a given that, where boys and girls coexist in a story, Romance will blossom.
Horror I have a very weak stomach for. (I read the basic instructions for Betrayal at House on the Hill and had to consciously tell myself that night that everything was fine and I would sleep safely. I didn't even play a game; I only read the instructions!)
I stay away from graphic violence, sexual depictions of any nature, and profanities. I'm very much a PG-rated writer; I plan on sharing everything I write as bedtime stories with my kids someday.

I play a convincing dude (I'm sure you never would have guessed that), but a vast majority of my favorite characters are female. So if you have romance in mind, I'm happy to play either party. If you don't want a romance, you will probably have to tell me that plainly. Then I'll just go with what feels right for the story, subject to a few personal whims which I hope will only bolster the plot and development.

I'm very picky as far as my own ideas go. I'll try just about everything I can think of to break the idea in order to insure there are no gaping plot holes. I invite everyone else to examine my ideas in a similar light--different people, different thought processes, different problems discovered--and to offer any compliments or constructive criticisms you have. As part of that, I absolutely love pushing the boundary of an idea as far as it will stretch, or looking for that odd, "I never thought of using it like that" approach to a character's abilities.

What else would I say with this space? I really like old poetry; reading Isaiah gives me the happy trembles. I hope I've presented a fair assessment of my writing style and capabilities through this brief introduction. I love creating--creating characters and bringing them to life from the page; creating worlds filled with fascinating lore and beautiful locales; creating stories, be they narrations of ordinary men and women facing their trials or epics of fated heroes overcoming every obstacle to save Dwarf-kind.

And, in closing, I'm excited for the chance to work with you. I should be able to post daily. PM me anytime, especially if you have a question about anything I've said here or elsewhere, but even if you only want to chat. You could even ask me about my mysterious two-year absence. I'll tell you now that I was in California, but that doesn't really answer the question. I'm happy to talk anytime.

Sweet water and light laughter until next we meet!

@Jiatsu Hoshido Should Conscripts and I be asking you what we find as we wander the cave? Or are you going to give us (each group, really) a ballpark and tell us to be creative?
@Achronum What does the group exactly want to do in the morning? So I can inform you on how to do it.

Sparring from 6:00 to 7:00; a bath afterward; shopping for skills and spells from 7:30 until 8:50 (and check the Town Hall for any new quest listings); then meet up with the party at the inn at 9:00.

Well, that's Alisea's schedule, at least. No reason to stall the main group for isolated posts; everything important will be mentioned past tense as the group heads forward. I think we had a consensus to try the Hill's Sorrow, and we'll probably encounter a mob or three as we travel that way. It would give the team a great opportunity to practice cohesiveness.
Anni was relieved to have the group moving away from... that place. She very nearly ran to Kate's side and stuck there, nearly at the back of their procession, as everyone started walking. Inside she tried to stop remembering the field. The station had been so grim, so gloomy. Then the field had been so full of life! So bright, so very nearly magical, even. But... Blood. Pain. And above all, the Ghost GIrl's request echoing round and round her head:

"I would have you serve as my blades, in this world."

That field... it had indeed been a place of life. That had never changed. What had changed was what life Anni could see in it. Not a fairy tale; as much as she loved those, they weren't life. Life had pain. Life had terror. Life...

'Life has its joys, too!' Anni screamed at her darkening thoughts. She picked her eyes up--and saw Ascot flying ahead, leading them down the trail. 'Life has love! Even though...' The girl's eyes drifted to Saffron walking along a few paces behind Ascot.

Anni shook her head, wishing to physically throw those thoughts out of her mind. It was... well, it was weird. Ascot... Ascot hadn't been like this, had he? He was quiet, and helpful, and... well, normal. Now he was outspoken, forward... and he had wings on his back, but that was probably the least weird change about him. The first time he had said he could dissect the frog and she wouldn't have to watch, she thought she saw a halo around his head already. Wings were just--

Again, Anni threw her head side to side.

“Anni," Kate nudged. The smaller girl jumped nearly a foot in the air. “You haven't said anything for more than an hour. You're never this quiet."

"Ah, I, uh..." All of Anni's thoughts scattered like quail after a gunshot. She looked to Kate with wide eyes and a half-open mouth, unable to form any words.

[color=81FFF0]“It will be alright, okay? We're going to stay safe. You don't have to put... that on."[/I]

Anni followed the woman's gesture with her gaze, down to the Semblance at her side. It still smiled at her.

"I would have you serve as my blades, in this world."

As much as she wanted to appreciate Kate's comforting words, a part of her doubted those words. Anni would never voice that, though; instead, she said, "No, that's not it. Everything has become so... frightening. And it's a lot to think about."

“Well, just don't bother with these things. They're only going to be trouble."

"...That is my choice," Anni said after a pause. She looked back up at Kate, locking gazes. "But I don't know what the right choice is. I keep asking, but--!"

"So," a voice from (surprisingly) behind interrupted, "how we gonna know what to do once we hit Silverbrook? I know we find the Magician, and all, but ya guys sure we're up for whatever's comin' next?"

Both girls turned to look at--Anni knew this one, she was... Ta...b... Tabitha?--to look at Tabitha. After raising her question, the woman sat down under at the base of a tree. "I wanna take a break, anyway. We been walkin' for a minute; ya guys can go ahead without me, if ya want. But I'm gonna drop my ass right here."

As a group it seemed the consensus was to take a break. Kate dropped to the grass a length apart from the others--even Saffron, Anni was saddened to see--and kept her eyes on all of them as best she could. Anni followed her, but didn't sit down herself. "Kate, I feel like He's--"

“Stop. You know I don't want to talk about it."

Anni looked at her friend, then around at the others. "Who am I supposed to talk to then?" she blurted out. Tears welled up in the corners of her eyes. She was scared. She was lost. She didn't feel safe at all. And she was feeling more and more alone as people changed into... not people. Kate could see that, too. How many hadn't put their semblance on yet? There was only--

“You can talk to her," Kate answered, pointing at Stormy. “She looks spiritual."

A part of Anni instinctively bristled. She rounded on Kate, a deep frown of disapproval on her face. "Kate. There is a difference between--!"

The girl stopped when she realized Kate had a soft smile on her face. “There's the girl I know," she commended quietly.

It took her a moment to process what had just happened, but soon her face lit up with an open-mouthed "a-ha!" For the time being, at least, the fear that had been spreading through her was gone. Kate had chased it out. Anni smiled at the world's best waitress--a giant smile filled with gratitude and awe--then turned to mingle with more of the group.

Anni ran over to where Tabitha sat. "What do you think is going to be next?" she asked the jester. "The Magician should tell us who she wants us to fight against. He might even tell us why. If we don't know that... Well, why did you come here in the first place?" Anni hadn't come for the scenery, that was certain. They were here because the Ghost Girl had asked for their help, right?
I like the twisted, nigh-impossible path to a fulfilling ending, ideally involving many of the characters marrying. But "fulfilling" could mean a worthy death, too. As for two people dying, it probably should have an impact but it wouldn't on Alisea. That's part of her twisted path to follow. So they're more valuable to me as off-screen characters.
Well TaroAndSelia did a most excellent job interacting with NPCs and getting to know them. I'd like to think I can award people for taking the creative effort some day. Or you could go join Guard Duty.

You could offer a discount on item purchases for becoming a loyal customer. Not yet, but maybe a few frequent visits down the road. Just a thought. *whistles and walks the other way*

@HueMan
So we had two people get their plugs pulled (drop out: Airalin and Thecrash20) and just seemed to gloss over that in the IC. Is it something we should mention or just continue on?

They never made it to the big party, and Alisea was the only one who met Jack and Fyaira; I don't think anyone needs to worry about it. I was planning they would stay alive, they just didn't want to be a part of the big group. Then Alisea can send Fyaira messages occasionally, letting her know what dangers she's going to be facing in the levels we (the lead group) already cleared, where good drops are, things like that. Far enough down the road I may even start a romance between Jack and Fyaira that never appears on-screen. Y'know, long after Airalin and crash have forgotten about them so I won't get in trouble for that sort of thing.
I don't get it.

It's a part of my plotting, way back on page 12.
Oh. Man. @Leaves Dubstepp needs to tame a goblin. How would this happen? Let me think... The parties meet in the Wilds goblin-bashing, Alisea finds out he's a tamer, she asks him to use a slot to tame a goblin to bring back to the city. Yes, this is doable. It has to happen now.

Um, please. =)

It hasn't quite worked out that way, but I still hold hope for a tame goblin. Then maybe a dryad or pixie; and one day... a centaur.
Phew. Thank goodness. I need Dubstepp to bring home a goblin still.
Uh-oh. Is Dubstepp in trouble? I mean, Alisea is early to bed and early to rise, so she's out of any action that happens first or second watch. If guard duty is an ambush quest and everyone else is asleep... Eek.
@HueMan

Did you ever say how many attributes we got for leveling up or did I miss that? Stupid Memory lol

Whenever your character has enough experience for a level (100 exp for the first, 150 for the second, 225 for the third, and so on) shoot a PM to HueMan and he'll tell you what your character received for that level.
So... That turned into something a lot longer than what I had originally intended. Umm... Hope you enjoy? Or don't worry about it; nothing in that post is usable material for the here and now; it's setting up for later. So... Yeah.

Happy birthday, Project! It's my mother's birthday, too.
