People like to nudge aside the fact that there's a level of commitment to hosting, and joining an RP. The majority of players don't have it in either case, regardless of how interesting an idea is.

I've been gone so long that I forgot what the status bar was like. It's like coming back to an old apartment, except it's not an apartment anymore, it's just two walls and a lot of heroine addicts.

The status bar serves one of three purposes. You can be pretentious, you can tell people about your personal problems, or you can be a smartass.

Caravan, Final Resurrection

"...The blame for what has come to pass cannot be placed with a mindless creature of the wilds. All people must reap what they sow, if we as a whole are to make changes for the better. We cannot avoid the monsters hiding within our own flawed morals, we can only fight to the last and hope for a brighter tomorrow..."
~ His highness King Ralphus XII, 1238, 'Ralphus' official inauguration speech' ~

Thoris is a sprawling world of magnificence and wonder. It is absolutely brimming with life and magical energies that transcend mortal understanding, occasionally dipping into realms of divine power where gods watch over mortals with eager eyes. In these lands, the forces of nature once lived in tandem with one another. Locked in a tranquil cycle of life and death, the world's creatures took only what they needed to survive while birthing generation after generation of offspring. There was a sense of order buried within the chaotic struggle for survival that persisted day after day. But just as fate's cruel hands always predict, this balance would not stand in the wake of mortal desire.

Intelligence arose over time as the threat of evolution took hold of all that maintained balance in the world. Its grasp sought only to conquer and control everything from the trees to the sun's light. With the rise of more sentient races, the nature of magic began to evolve as well. It morphed to adapt to the life that took control, changing from an energy that maintained balance, into something more sinister which served only to tip and tussle nature to the whims of the selfish. It had begun then, the series of vicious crimes against life itself, which brought endless turmoil to the innocent creatures of Thoris.

Civilizations have risen and fallen since the dawn of man, acting as tides against the natural elements while leaving only weathered stone in their wake. The ruins of old have since returned to nature, disregarded in lieu of more practical modern practices. Despite this radical abandonment, the generations have brought unusually rapid advancements in the understanding and application of magical energies. Intelligent races have risen to levels of power that consistently stand toe-to-toe with the natural forces around them. It has come to the point where the dominant races of Thoris are able to live without fear of nature's wrath, allowing them to advance their nations peacefully, unlike their predecessors that have fallen so miserably in the past. Because of this, the current era is often considered by historians to be an era of rebirth and power. History before this golden fourth era is however, fragmented and jarred. There really is no telling how the prior eras had come to an end, or how much time had passed between them. Nobody bothers to question it, given the immense power that modern magic has been able to awaken.

The current year is 1252-4E, marking the longest recorded era of advancement in known history. The kingdoms of Thoris have come to an accord, following the second great war, to maintain peace and guide all intelligent species in the right direction. But with so many different cultures, a clash of morals will remain unavoidable. Even now, particular superpowers struggle to stay relevant in the ongoing zeitgeist of magical and national advancement. Every nation holds a voice at the continental counsel, wherein all leaders and political figures have a chance to voice their concerns. But their demands and worries are not treated as equal. The unrest within certain political bodies continues to grow as the global union restricts certain actions and perpetuated the growth of larger nations over smaller settlements. None are sure of what each kingdom plans beneath the veil of diplomacy. But with time it might become clear that peace cannot exist with certain elements maintaining a persistent role.

"...I fear the day when god will finally see through our feigned piety, and banish the paladin order from its overpowering throne atop the world..."

Divine Classifications

The Races of Thoris

Threat Class System

Common throughout the major nations of Thoris is the universal Threat Class System, or TCS, used to disambiguate different types of beasts that prowl in the wild. Threat levels dictate how Nations should respond to any given creatures, but are more commonly acted upon by the Nations of Arcadia and Marrenfall, considering their superior Caravan systems and importance in Thoris.

Relevant IC Lore Ends Here

Glad you read through that, or didn't. Either way, here's the stuff you need to read in order to join up.

Rules and Regulations
1 - No god modding/power-playing/auto-hitting/all that nasty stuff. You all know this by now, I don't even know why I need to state it.

2 - Please, do not add major lore without consulting me first. You're free in-character to create explanations and locations within the universe without asking me, because it's a pretty HUGE setting. But don't go creating entire nations without letting me know about them, just so we don't end up having things contradict each other. You are free to create new magical classifications, races, nations, etc as long as we speak about it first, and you may expand on the existing nations as well. This role-play's central theme is evolution, we're playing in an evolving world.

3 - Be friendly, be tolerant, and be tolerable. I have a zero tolerance policy for self-entitled tools who go around insulting people because they think it's funny or entertaining. If you're one of those people who can't treat others with respect, you're outta here, yo.

4 - Please address me if you have any questions or concerns. I want to make this fun for everyone involved, and avoid alienating Role players. I'm open to ideas and I'm very flexible. Take advantage of that, or don't.

5 - If you cannot post frequently, then this may not be the RP for you. If you lack the time management skills to type up frequent posts, or merely suffer from constant writers block, I will not pause the progress at the expense of the entire party to wait for you, and you will fall behind.. furthermore, characters that are inactive for an entire week will be taken over by me, and become a permanent NPC. If you have something significant to deal with IRL that truly makes it impossible for you to post, like a funeral, vacation, etc, I will take temporary control over your character with your intents in mind, and allow you to return to them at any time.

On that note however, there are no requirements for post length or detail. As long as you can manage a coherent paragraph that creates progress and doesn't alienate other players, you'll be welcomed without judgement. This is very much a role play for all skill-levels.

6 - Note that all characters entered now will not be involved directly with the main group. You will either be part of a secondary group, or in a side-plot with me or somebody else 1on1 until you join the main story.

The Royal Insignia of Arcadia
Zelraka's eyes shifted to the left as the secondary shatter took place, and he turned his body in midair. He moved like gravity had no effect on him, twirling effortlessly and meeting Zios' attack head on. But as Zios approached, a twinkle sparked across his target's eyes. Zelraka kicked at the air and moved out of the way, so that Zios' arm could make only the briefest of contact with his chest. "Ohohoho!" He raised one of his hands palm-first towards Zios and began charging a sphere of energy. "Scary!" Without too much delay, an explosive close-range shock wave erupted from Zelraka's palm, spreading outwards and moving to encompass Zios entirely in destructive energy.
Zelraka disappeared from sigh and reappeared in front of the wall that Zios created, with one hand raised against it. His other pointed mockingly towards his eyes, and he smiled. "Better consider your options quickly," He grunted while beginning to tear into Zios' wall of energy with his left hand, "I'm done standing around." With his right hand raised high above his head, Zelraka unleashed a flurry of Ki blasts into the air above him. Several balls of energy flew upwards, paused in midair, and then spread across the battlefield, seeking out each one of the fighters while maneuvering around the debris. With his other hand, he unleashed a sudden pulse of power forwards, aiming to implode the wall of energy in its entirety, while pulling Zios into the blast as well.
"Keep jumping then-" Zelraka grunted while hefting one of his feet into a roundhouse. The tip of his foot released a blade of ultra-refined energy that headed straight for Bruce like a shimmering knife. His movements were refined much like Zelrian's, but his form and execution were far less predictable, and carried a greater weight behind them. There was something chaotically terrifying about his new choice of technique, and the nature of his magic was still unknown. But something was certain...

"-Cuz you don't want to block this."
Zelraka coated his limbs in a thin layer of vibrant light, and angled his body slightly as the excessively quick beams headed towards him, while letting go of the beam that he'd caught earlier, and letting his energy disperse it into speckled fractals. Jeff's attacks were not completely eliminated, but redirected towards the outside of the tower. The floating part above them floated slightly higher, and Jeff's beams were disintegrated as they went too far outside the confines of the structure. It seemed they were separated from their world somehow, despite having a clear view of the beach that the tower rested on.

Monstrosity? Reckless?" Zelraka asked coolly, "That's awfully rude! Don't worry though. I'll let it slide. You seem stressed- It's perfectly reasonable to lash out at me given your circumstances. But fighting outside would be pointless, and counter productive." The fused creature rose one hand above his head slowly and splayed his fingers outwards, amassing ark-void around his fingertips until it took a slightly reddish hue. "Don't worry though, I'll make sure this is perfectly fair." Zelraka smiled and slammed his hand downwards, striking the ground with am excessive pulse of energy.

"Catastrophic Failure!"

Another eruption sent sections of the tower flying in every direction, leaving floating platforms to circle the bottom of the structure's circumference. His attack caused the top half of the tower to fly even higher upwards as well, but it wasn't a simple exercise of sheer force. Zelraka's attack caused the entire tower to uproot from the ground beneath it. Both halves began to ascend into the sky, bringing the already over-sized building even higher into the clouds. The storm outside began to wash into the interior, slipping past the tower's natural barrier in spurts and flurrying around the battlefield. Lightning struck stray platforms of debris, and many of the footholds began slippery nightmares. There were several large enough to fight on effectively, perhaps seven to eight yards in diameter, with the smaller fragments circling them, as they circles the tower, or sat immobile.

Zelraka stood immobile, still bent over while on the largest platform in the center of the mess he'd created. He stood back up and waited patiently.

"There, I've lost my advantage." He smiled again and dusted his hand clean of the previously unbreakable stone shards. "Now your chances of winning have gone from zero to infinitesimal."
Zelraka rose and eyebrow as the beam tore across the room and struck him with a flash of brilliant light. A radiant cascade of emerald lights pierced out from the impact point, rushing through the neo-ultima beam and back across the room. Small holes formed wherever the light struck, leaving burn marks and dropping small pieces of rock to the floor.

But, almost as if tearing away a shower curtain, Zelraka's hand began to divert the beam away while pushing past it with his body. His arm struggled to hold Zios' attack back, but ultimately grasped it like solid matter, and sent a pillar of his own energy down the center of the beam discreetly, straight back towards its owner. Such a sneaky attack didn't befit Rajaka, and Zelriane lacked the raw killing power to pull it off on his own. Regardless, it seemed the two of them had joined to create something truly terrifying. A power-house with the ability to think.
~ Chapter 208 ~

Unholy Fusion: Unlimited Power, Perfect Control

Zelriane looked to Jeff for only a moment without his mask to cover his expression. Rajaka was immobilized at his feet, but that didn't stop what happened next. Zelriane slapped his hand onto Rajaka's bare chest. The massive man suddenly sprouted one of his arm's back and grabbed Zelriane's wrist a moment after.

"You'll soon learn, all of you, what it means to defy the natural order of the multiverse."

A mucus green light began to shine from where the two men made contact, and their bodies were encompassed by a similar glow.

"What it feels like to disappear into the ever constant hell of the void without the merciful preamble of death."

The light around their bodies intensified until their features were completely obscured. Rajaka turned his head towards Jeff as his body began to burn away with Zelriane, offering him one last smile.

"We are..." His words faded in and out of reality like somber echoes, refracting continuously into the minds of Jeff and Zios. "We're... Gonna..." Zelriane's body ripped apart into cinders with Rajaka's coalescing above them into a cloud of radiant smoke.

"We'll completely erase you all!!!"

A burst of energy erupted from the point behind them, blasting through the outer walls of the tower. In a single moment, the previously unbreakable exterior was shattered. But despite the sudden surge of power, the tower did not fall. Instead, the above section floated in place, almost as if supported by an invisible wall, and the stairway lingered in midair, despite being torn to pieces. Where Rajaka and Zelriane once stood, now stood somebody new. A man nearly as tall as Rajaka, but with the lithe, muscular body structure of Zelriane. He wore a pair of loose fitting grey pants with lime-green stripes running down each pant leg. His hair was medium length, and hung magically in place around his head. His face, too, was a mixture of Zelriane's sharp features, and Rajaka's rugged definitions. He stood in place silently for a moment, before swiping a hand past his face and conjuring a mask of blackness to hide his features. The man opened his lime-green eyes and glared at whatever remained of Zios and Jeff, looking to see if they even survived the initial power surge that his body has just put out. His mouth curled into a subtle smile, and he grunted happily.

"Zelraka's here, kids," He said in a gruff voice, with an uncharacteristically refined manner of speaking.

"Who's first?"

~ End Of Chapter 207 ~
"Done," He assured Jeff, pointing towards the tower with one of his thumbs, "Go help those guys stop the world from blowing up, yeah?"
There was a pause before he responded. As Jeff neared the tower, he could see Dacer relaxing with his back against its base near the entrance. The battlefield was still a total wreck, and the top of the tower was emitting a dangerously high amount of energy.

"We're fine. The hole in the sky looks like it's stopped growing... Unfortunately, most, if not all of our tech, was destroyed in that colossal blast. The only bots we have with us are those programmed to treat the injured and aid outside of combat."

Dacer looked up at Jeff with one eye closed and nodded. "Sure am, bud. Minus the fuckin' rain, it's just a splendid day." He turns his head slightly towards the tower. "But uh, how the hell did you... Come from... Over there? Weren't you inside the tower?"
