I feel like Myriad Reality is somehow the secret glue holding this entire site together

People like to nudge aside the fact that there's a level of commitment to hosting, and joining an RP. The majority of players don't have it in either case, regardless of how interesting an idea is.

I've been gone so long that I forgot what the status bar was like. It's like coming back to an old apartment, except it's not an apartment anymore, it's just two walls and a lot of heroine addicts.

The status bar serves one of three purposes. You can be pretentious, you can tell people about your personal problems, or you can be a smartass.

Oh that was just a reaction.

If you want a visual, I'll draw something up or spend a couple hours on google.

Zelraka's shock wave faded just as quickly as it had formed. An instant motion with extremely short range and no end lag. As Gideon's blade circled around the danger zone though, it met a similar fate to all previous attacks against the newly fused monster. It rested in Zelraka's side, or at least, partially embedded in the lime green defensive aura that protected him. A moment afterwards though, the aura sealed itself and shattered the weapon before disappearing again. Zelraka turned back over and looked at Gideon with a little smile. "My thoughts exactly. I hope you don't end up disappointing me." Zelraka smiled. "How are you detecting me, I wonder? It has to be something more complex than sensing my energy. I should almost be able to outspeed Yzeira's eyes right now. So what is it?" He rose a hand to his chin and tilted his head to the side. "Trying to cut off my oxygen supply, disappearing into the arcane energy of the air itself, manipulating the wind- Ah! Atmosphere!" Zelraka smiled and snapped his fingers. "Could it be that? It's the air itself, isn't it? No matter how fast I move, you can feel me coming in advance!" He lowered his hands and clapped a few times for Gideon's efforts. "Bravo! That's almost on par with Adarine and Yzeira! Look at you go!" Zelraka rolled his eyes. "Should I destroy the atmosphere? I'm almost 100% certain I can hold my breath longer than you, but you'll probably just create more air... But maybe..." Zelraka threw a punch out of nowhere, aimed at the space between him and Gideon. Nothing happened at visually, but the air between them was pushed away in an instant, leaving a gap where neither Gideon or Zelraka could breath for the briefest of moments. In the same motion, Zelraka charged Gideon head-first. But unlike Zelriane's previous dashes, Zelraka didn't reappear before moving to strike. Without the air to detect him, how would Gideon see Zelraka's fist coming straight for his abdomen?

Zelraka was confident of one thing.

He couldn't.
"O-Oh..."

Marilyn didn't have the confidence to press the Mission orders at all. The Venbu seemed perturbed for a moment, but slowly moved to the left side of the road afterwards. As they approached the fork, Zay peered over the edge of the Caravan's roof with a small smile.

"New path, Marilyn?" He asked casually. She turned around and looked up at Zay's face hanging over her head.

"Yes. Um, Captain, I don't think you're supposed to stand on the overhang."

"It's fine, I don't weight that much." Zay backed up and returned to the roof to keep a lookout. It seemed like he'd forgotten to assign the team roles and duties. Was that intentional? It was hard to tell with that guy, especially when he showed absolutely no concern for their change in pathing. Marilyn still didn't like it one bit. It was clear from her rigid posture. She clamped onto the reins tightly. For a moment it felt like she could float away at any moment, like her soul was trying to leave her body. She wouldn't even look at Daelin.

Back inside the common area, Noru had been paying minimal attention to Flin's story about some overgrown bugs. Even so, he nodded to emulate some kind of interest in the man's ramblings. Tuning him out was more difficult than it seemed though. Noru glanced at Flin's burn as he pulled his shirt back and sighed to himself. "Gathering knowledge on the creatures of Thoris used to be a common practice. Nowadays it's almost impossible to be fully prepared. But the bestiary in Arcadia's royal library has plenty of info on the local pests, including those overgrown hornets. You may find it more useful to spend more time researching and less time blaming your allies if you value knowledge so much."

The cart shook a little as it began to veer off of the southern trading route. The path that Daelin had chosen leeched back towards Lake Hyu eventually, and the detour itself wouldn't throw them off schedule. But there was a reason for their assigned path. The trading routes were some of the most well maintained paths between Nations. Even small civilizations would link into the main routes and contribute to their safety. With so many powerful casters using them daily, even the aggressive creatures of the wilds would think twice before jumping at every last Caravan that came their way. Daelin's path wasn't exactly leading them into a jungle though. Between the fork in the road is where the Baeshri Hills started. Taking a left here merely lead them down the Eastern trading route.
*Grunts indifferently*
Marilyn bounced at Daelin's words, and turned towards him slightly. She hesitated as he went on about the dangers of their path, keeping true to the road they were meant to follow. Before she could verbally object to his suggestion, entirely due to panic, he asked her something about her proficiency with the Venbu.

"The reigns? Um, the reigns... I taught myself while training under Major Juliana with the Chauncy-" Marilyn stopped herself and struggled for a moment to keep the Venbu in check. "Sorry, 'Chauncy' might not be- Ehm, well it's like..." She continued to stumble over her words for a moment before regaining any semblance of clear thought. "The Venbu we kept around our training area. He was kind of like a mascot... Oh, I'm sorry-" With one finger, Marilyn pointed at the road that Daelin advised her to avoid, "That's our appointed route, wouldn't it be safer to follow instruction? I mean..." She couldn't quite find the mettle to tell him outright. She didn't want to change their path at all.

Noru found himself locked into conversation with another of his teammates. It was Flin, the one he'd had the least respect for thus far. This man had demonstrated a combination of problematic traits, ranging from carelessness, to impulsive ideas. Even if he assured Zay otherwise, Flin seemed like the type to jump in front of a Titanic beast with little rhyme or reason.

"I've been party to several ruin discoveries, and excavations. Most of my previous Caravans were involved in just that. If I were to claim a specialty, it would be in excavation. But excavations are not exactly a daily occurrence." Noru stopped himself before getting into the details of his occupation. It was true that locating ruins in Thoris, especially after a millennia of discoveries, was not very common. But Noru wasn't about to go on a tirade about that now. He paused and thought to himself carefully for a moment, trying to remember the most interesting ruin he'd helped uncover. "I found it most interesting when we'd located an old shrine to Maeti. That's what the Paladin's concluded, anyways. Inside of it, there were human corpses and an artifact that rests in the Ivory pillar as we speak. I can't say much else, but it was an... Experience." He looked at Flin for a moment before following up. "I don't suppose you've seen much. Please don't take this the wrong way, but you seem relatively inexperienced."

This is usually the case when you see an RP with 10 IC posts and 200 OOC posts in 1 month, lol.
Zelraka's eyes peered around momentarily. He tried to say something, but there were no words. Of course, his laughter that followed was completely inaudible as well. His chest deepened slightly as he tried to exhale completely, ignoring the burning that started in his chest. Then he dropped down beneath the blades that headed for him and turned around entirely, and then he faded from detection, reaching speeds similar to Zelriane in the past. Zelraka appeared behind Gideon, and released a short ranged shock wave from behind. With his speed, he escaped the compact vacuum around his head, and attempted to take the new fusion by surprise. With his speed, trying to cut off his supply of oxygen would be difficult. But the beckoned the question, did he even need to breath normally?
@Inkarnate Your BMing cleric gives me way too many traumatic raid flashbacks.
