@Thang Just a few questions about the Vault, now you say that it wasn't an experiment Vault, which means it's a control Vault, designed to open after a certain period of time. Would that mean that our Vault is in fact open? Could we have people whose job it is to explore and trade with the outside world? Maybe the Vault door is only opened to allow them to come and go?
I thought it was a control vault; I looked for the term, but those vaults were always designed to automatically open at a specific time, so I assumed they were actually experiments too.
This vault is in the full control of the inhabitants. They can come and go as they please, but only with the Overseer's approval. People have gone outside before, but only for emergencies, such as external repairs to the vault's front wall and the like.
But yes, people can go beyond the vault. It depends on what kind of Overseer we have, as to how easy that may be. If the Overseer is like "Well, it's time to see what the surface looks like!" then go for it. If they're like, "NO, WE MUST NEVER LEAVE!" then sneaky/law breaking actions are going to be required.
The general idea is that SOMETHING will happen to the vault. I don't know what. It's down to all of us.
A technician might notice that the water chip needs replacing/a Security Officer may hear knocking on the outside of the vault door, someone might create a mentally unstable NPC who uses the maintenance stores to create an explosive - anything really. All I know is, at some point, one of us will be like "well, this is boring, LETS HAVE FUN!" and then who knows where we'll go from there?
And if it must happen, id be more than happy to npc Japan!! If it happens, ill likely follow historic events so as to retain uniformity in the pacific.
I'm sure someone will find it to be biased as I am using the united states as my primary but the offer is there!
I could do them too, if I have to. The more nations I have though, the less specific my posts will be. I couldn't write a detailed post from every nation's viewpoint, that'd be an insane word count. Instead, I'll probably focus on the various theatres. So Japan in the east would have its own little story, in Europe and Russia the central Axis powers would have their piece, narrated chiefly by Hitler and his Generals ofc, with a little flavouring from that good looking sex beast we know as Mussolini. In Africa, it would be my main man Rommel. So my posts would be formatted like this:
The Axis Powers
Europe, the Pact of Steel
Fluff about Axis efforts in Russia, some stuff about Hitler's descent into insanity. Lots of explosions. Much misery.
The Far East
Fluff about the Japanese thinking their bonzai charge is an effective military tactic against American armour.
North Africa
Fluff about Rommel being civil, and playing cards with some English POWs because he's nice like that.
etc
Obviously, anyone could take any of the Axis nations off me at any point; I'd just be supervising them until someone wanted to play them.
I'm rolling as the Afrika Korps, but without a Germany to attach myself to, there'd be little point. I'd just be an island of awesomeness located in Africa, and without a player (Germany) to specifically give me men and material, little will change from the real world's time line.
Therefore, I guess it's going to HAVE to be me, isn't it?
I'm going to have to play as Hitler.
Expect an application for Nazi Germany today, or I may do the Pact of Steel, and include both Italy and Germany under my sphere of control.
Whatever happens, there will be at least ONE Axis power. And judging how fooked I'm going to be from the countless Allied states, I'll be perfectly content to play along with Germany's historical losing streak.
EDIT: If I assume control of the central Axis powers, including Germany, Italy, Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania (and little darling Finland), then I'd also like to be a CO-GM given the amount of land I've got to manage. I don't fancy leaving NPCs on my flanks, and would rather take direct control. Will make for a better story that way.
I did tonnes of research on the Axis war machine in my youth, much of it has stayed with me, but not all of it. So go easy on me if I struggle with a few historical facts, and instead, help me to correct anything I do wrong.
Let me get an app up first before anyone makes a decision, though :)
We're all inhabitants of Vault 72 (non-canon), just going about our daily routines as we always do; just like our parents before us, and their parents before them, and their parents' parents before that and so on.
The Vault was assigned no experiment, and its full control has always been in the hands of the Overseers. There's nothing sinister going on, no one is dying, nothing is breaking, no one is trying to massacre everyone.
It's just a Vault, and we're the inhabitants. Going about our daily routines as we always do.
Until one of the players gets bored of course, and sets things in motion.
Vault 72
Welcome to Vault 72, where the water tastes like a surgeon's scalpel, and where the air is always steadfastly purified. Allow me to take you for a walk around our facilities.
Like many Vaults, Vault 72 is safely tucked away underground. A series of small caverns lead to the front door, and these are considered dangerous areas - occupied by radroaches and other vermin. Very few personnel ever go beyond the door, and those that do, do so only in the most dire of circumstances.
To open the door requires written, verbal and recorded permission from the Overseer.
The entrance to the vault is guarded at all times by security personnel hand picked by the Overseer for their mental stability, and steadfast loyalty to those they have sworn to protect. It is here that the main elevator is located, that leads down to the lower levels.
The first three floors you would come across from the surface, contain Living Quarters 1, 2 and 3. Though compact, each Living Quarters offers an individual (or martial pairing) their very own room for privacy. Although overcrowding has been an issue in the past, the transformation of two storage levels into Living Quarters 2 and 3 has greatly alleviated the problem.
All rooms come with ensuite showers, and display monitors hooked up to Vault 72's entertainment and news network!
Initially designated as the original Living Quarters 2 in the Vault's schematics, level 4 has since been reassigned as a storage centre for maintenance and engineering supplies. Power tools, nuts and bolts, cables, welders, angle grinders - this room has it all.
Being that much of level 4's inventory could be potentially dangerous if someone were to abuse it, the level is watched constantly by a dedicated section of security personnel. Only engineers, or those with explicit permission from the Overseer, may walk around here freely.
Remember, think safety! Think suspect! If you see a shady character walking around this area, alert the nearest Security Officer immediately!
Bored? Gaining too much weight from all that protein mix? Why not have a crack at Vault 72's very own Leisure Centre?
Equipped with gym equipment, playing cards and table tennis paddles, the Leisure Centre is guaranteed to work out that building tension on your shoulders. Don't get carried away now though! Damaging the equipment will create a loss that even our engineers can't replace.
The Vault's nerve centre, and final level. Here the Vault's security personnel sleep, train, and monitor the facility 24/7 via the cameras placed throughout. Fittingly, this is also where the Vault keeps its few weapons, which are guarded closely and require an insane amount of red tape to get hold of - unless a crisis is on going, of course.
The Overseer's Office is also on this floor. It is from here, that he or she commands the vault. Control of the facility's various functions, such as water and air purification, is also housed on this level.
Important Fluff
The year is 2277.
Only the Overseer knows where the Vault is actually located.
There are no problems currently affecting the Vault.
No one really has a current interest in going anywhere, any time soon.
There are plenty of NPCs around, making up the rest of Vault 72's inhabitants. Use and abuse at will.
Rules!
All players have equal control over the plot's direction; let the battle, or non-battle as the case may be, BEGIN!
No arguments, unless they're about how awesome I am.
Write as much and as little as you want.
Post whenever you want, but DO NOT let any players you may have interacted with, get stuck on waiting for your reply.
