Day 5: A Grave of Rubble

Lomen awoke to pain aching all over his body. As his eyes opened he saw a counter in front of him, counting down until the status listed went away he hoped. Rising slowly, Lomen felt a bit stronger then yesterday, likely due to the mock hunt and wandered to the edge of the cave. As the fresh air hit his face, Lomen woke up more to the day and felt a natural pull towards the edge of the mountain the cave rested in. With a quick look around the cave, it looked as if no-one had yet noticed him thanks to most still being asleep. Zectoll and Stegs seemed pre-occupied and wanting to let his brothers have some time together, quickly following this strange feeling alone.

The morning air was fresh and inspired Lomen to take a few deeps breaths, giving a somewhat enhanced awareness due to more air being supplied to the body and brain. With this increase in awareness, Lomen took into account the wet ground and how slippery the mountain face appeared to be. With this in mind, Lomen was careful of his footing, trying to distribute his weight as efficiently as possible to prevent slipping on the terrain. It was a bit difficult due to the aching of his body, he soon grew used to efficiently moving on the uneven and slippery terrain. With his footing taken care of, Lomen then looked around, noticing some rocks tumbling down nearby and was weary of the cliff face next to him.

This proved to be a life saver since some loose stones hurled towards him from the cliff. It was relatively easy to avoid them, but their size could have been enough to break his legs if he had been caught off guard. As for the danger of the stones, it was relatively soon revealed how dangerous the situation could have been.

A few paces ahead was a boulder surrounded with a large amount of rubble and upon approach, Lomen felt that this was the source of his strange feeling. It didn't seem any different from normal rubble, until Lomen gazed at the small pool of blood seeping out from the stones. With some fear, Lomen cleared away a few of the smaller stones around the boulder and after a short time had revealed something quite saddening to him. Before him laid the crushed corpse of Kishi, the fire starter and the only other Goblin that had hunted on Lomen's first day hunting. With a moment to let the reality set in, Lomen got to work, first picking up the tusk that Kishi still held in his now open, dead hand. It had a crack running down it, appropriate for the scene and circumstances that it had been found.

Lomen first went about creating an above ground grave, using the nearby rubble and mud from the wet earth and crafted a proper resting place for his brother. As he worked his body ached but he didn't care at all, seeing it as insignificant to the task he had taken on. Once the grave was finished, Lomen placed his hands together.

Thanks to his ability, Notice from the Dead one, Lomen was able to go about giving Kishi the proper burial service that was deserving of all things in his opinion. All thing live and should be at least given respect for what is contributed or lost in death. The curse soon began to take effect as it edged at his mind but Lomen looked upon his brother's grave and knew that even though death is terrifying, their are still the living. His body aching was proof enough that he was alive, along with the others still at peace inside the cave. With that in mind, it revitalized Lomen's want to live a fruitful and fulfilling life with this one chance he has.

Once his work was done, Lomen walked back home to the cave, practicing his footing. After getting used to the terrain, Lomen then tried to mimic Zectoll, trying to make his footsteps as silent as possible to avoid monsters and also gain an upper hand in future battles. This also helped take his mind off of the death of Kishi and would relax him a bit before he had to give the dire news to the clan. Upon approaching the cave and peering in, it seemed that the whole en devour had taken a relatively short amount of time, appearing longer due to the mental strain in the event. The group of Zectoll Stegs and Luz were still haning around the entrance of the cave and appeared to still be talking among themselves.

With a small smile, Lomen looked to Zectoll, Luz, and Stegs with a somewhat saddened look. Even if Lomen didn't realize it, his face couldn't hide that something un-comforting had occurred. Silently he made his way over to Grandpa Goblin and stood there for a moment, not sure of how to put the words together before resting on his knees, placing the broken tusk in-between them. After a few times of opening and closing his mouth with no sound, Lomen took a deep breath.

"Grandfather. I. . .I . . I found Kishi's body. It has been crushed under the weight of a boulder near the cliff face of the mountain and. . . Grandfather. . . Thank you. With the knowledge you gave me I was able to give him an appropriate burial service and. . . I . . I regret he is no longer with us but I am glad I could at least give him the service he deserved. It still hasn't fully settled in the scene I witnessed but how should I tell the rest of the clan? I worry for my brothers and sisters that they . . they might become lost without him. "

Lomen felt that even though he himself was fairly certain in his direction, others of the clan may not and could have looked to Kishi as a roll figure. With that in mind Lomen still held concern and took a few moments to regain his composure with a few deep breaths.

"Above all thank you Grandfather and I am sorry to bring such woeful news."

With that said, Lomen exhaled and rested his mind as he watched the counter till his aches went away. During this time he also looked over at his brothers and sisters in the cave with some happiness as that it backed the resolve of his thinking that the living will support each other and will learn from the dead. With open ears he awaited Grandpa Goblin's response.
@demonspade64

I tend to have a somewhat addictive personality. Two days ago I was on day 100.
Ok, so, I will have a post up later tonight.

Also I may or may not have read up to past day 300 of the novel.
@Musaki Hajime I'm good to go.

Same on this end.

I am going to sleep, I will learn of your special stones when I awaken. Don't work too hard, for we shall hunt once more tomorrow.

"Sleep well brother. I have learned much today as well."

Lomen watched as Zectoll went to sleep, seeming to have spent all of his energy with the spar. With a small sigh, Lomen almost passed out, grabbing the wall to stay upright and turned to face Stegs.

"Ehm excuse me, I have made some ointment for your wounds."

"Oh. Thank you brother, I am honored to be given this."

It was astonishing to him that one of his family would go out of their way to give him some medicine when he had lost, but accepted it graciously. As he winced from the initial pain of applying the ointment to his back, he saw the more openings in the wall. At the end of them was Skubli, a little worn out and looking towards Lomen with questioning eyes. With this Lomen looked at his two brothers and smiled, feeling some tears drop from his eyes.

"I could not have asked for more caring brothers. One who is a fierce warrior, one who is a caring healer, and one who is a hard worker. I am happy beyond words can describe."

As he wiped the tears from his eyes, his legs buckled and dropped him to one knee before slowly rising back up.

"Ah. . It seems my body can't stand much longer. I am sorry I cannot give you two anything in return for your kindness, but I will give you two something soon. That is a promise. Unfortunately for now, my body must rest."

With a weak walk, Lomen made his way to his small area, half collapsing as his body came to rest on the ground. With the last of his energy he looked towards his brothers.

"Thank you."

With a thumbs up to them, he turned to give an acknowledging nod to Grandpa Goblin before resting his body soundly to sleep.

Kevin was delighted momentarily and then soon became ecstatic at the sight of their valuable personnel. Within a few moments Kevin had questions whirling around in his mind and approached. As he came closer, so did the gravity of the situation. They were in dangerous territory and all he could bring himself to thing about was what to do in order to make a better machine. It began to infuriate him and when he got to the professor he had to take a few deep breaths before speaking. A few moments passed with his mouth open until Kevin closed his eyes and gripped his hand.

"There are so many things I want to talk with you about and brainstorm with, but I will wait until after we have secured both you and the package. Afterwards I hope you will be alright with speaking on the terms of new and possibly unorthodox blueprints of valkanais."

That being done Kevin sped off, looking somewhat frustrated that the situation forced him to hold off his questions till later. It was probably for the best since it would focus Kevin more on the mission at hand. Kevin then went off to help with securing the package and then back to his Mech. Some gut feeling Kevin had told him that things would not go well.
Alrighty, post is up and onto attempting to finding more precious minerals.

Lomen was not able to stand on his own and noted a hand appear in front of his face.

You are a fierce fighter indeed brother.

"I see it runs in the family brother. I hope you have learned something from our bout."

Lomen took the hand and got up to his knees first before slowly standing up. He patted Zectoll on the head and smiled.

"But you have proven yourself the stronger fighter this time. Now it is time to rest and it seemed our hidden brother has found something of value."

With a gesture of the hand, Lomen pointed to the iron ore and made his way over, slowly and wobbly. When reaching Grandpa and Skubli, he half sat/collapsed down and intently looked at the iron ore. His senses told him that it was an important stone and once he memorized the sense of it, he glanced around the cave and saw a hint of it towards one of the untouched back wall. Lomen smiled at Skubli and pointed towards the wall.

"I don't know what that stone is, but from Grandpa's expression it is an important stone. I also seem to be getting a wierd sense from it, so it must be important. With that in mind, there is no time to waste. There is some over this way, just a bit into this wall..."

Lomen shambled over to the wall, grabbing a small stone along the way. After reaching the wall, he felt around the area and started to chip away at the wall. It was extremely slow from already being exhausted after the fight, but Lomen did not want to waste time. Any moment he stood without learning or working was a moment wasted. Although he had to be sure to stop and breath a few times to gain stamina back slowly as he chipped away at the wall. He could sense the iron in the wall, but it was probable just beyond a thin layer of the wall since it was still faint, but noticeable.
Sorry about delay, projects have started at school so my free time is getting crunched a bit. I will have a post up in a few minutes.
