Today's the first time in a long time that I've felt empty. Not even sad or tired, just empty. This quarantine is getting to me more than I thought.

. . .

Phoebe glanced at her guild mate, hood still hiding her face. She wasn't sure if the other person was a guild mate, but if he was hanging around Kyuuten, it was more than likely he was. Kyuuten however, was someone she knew about, or rather, there was hardly a chance that anyone in the guild didn't know about him. Hopelessly energetic, boundlessly cheery, and endlessly smiling, he had a kind of brightness to him that inevitably endeared himself to many. He wasn't known as the Harpy's "Shining Sun" for nothing.

Phoebe drew her hood over herself near unconsciously; Kyuuten was the kind of person she had the hardest time being around, for a number of reasons.

Turning her back to the two, she focused once more on the books for sale; as expected, most of them were literature she'd already gone through, and the one's she hadn't, were hardly worth the jewels. It seemed she'd have to do a bit more searching before she could find-

She paused. Had she been someone more emotive, surprise, and delight, would have been all over her face. There, buried under all the mediocrity, was a rare, one of a kind book. Phoebe glanced around, almost paranoid, and checking if anyone else had noticed. Stepping forward swiftly, Phoebe picked the book up gingerly, and read the title.

"The Writings of the Emerald Tablet - A Study in Human Folly"

Though she didn't smile, Phoebe came quite close to it. This was the first volume of five, and even better, the lack of volume number and original publication date meant that this was, almost inexplicably, a first edition print.

"How much is this?" she asked the vendor. The vendor glanced at the book in her hand and shrugged. "For that old thing? 200 jewels."

That was nowhere near it's true value! Phoebe nearly bleated out. That price was less than two hundred times the books true value - and that wasn't even factoring the value it would have for collectors like her. If Phoebe had to guess, in the right auction houses the books would sell for near 100,000 jewels, perhaps even above that, and this vendor was selling it for a mere two-hundred!

"I . . . see," said Phoebe. She set down the book, reaching for her wallet, only to find . . . nothing. She checked again, and nothing. She'd left her wallet at home.

Sighing, she peered up at the vendor. "Can you reserve this for me?" she requested. Shaking his head, the vendor replied, "Sorry, no reservation policy," while pointing at a sign that echoed his words.

Slumping slightly, Phoebe looked in the direction of the guild warily. On one hand, it would take less than two minutes to get to and from the guild and retrieve her wallet, on the other, two minutes would be enough for someone to notice and purchase the book. Then, she glanced at Kyuuten, who was still talking with the other person. But she was loathe to have to ask money from anyone, most especially from Kyuuten Rallis.
Ceri would likely know about her, though not the other way around. Phoebe is probably somewhat infamous or at least something like a near mythical existence within the guild, given that everyone "knows" she exits, but she rarely shows herself.
@LostDestiny Mingle socially, hang out, interact, and what have you. I just felt like using the word hobnob :)
If anyone wants to hobnob with Phoebe, she's free.

. . .

Phoebe's earlier assumption was right - for today, there was no such thing as a solitary spot for her. There were just too many people, and they'd filled nearly every inch of the Luna Crescente. Phoebe wondered where all these people came from; the city wasn't usually this populated. She wondered how many people came from outside the town just for this day.

For want of a place where she could be alone, she decided to simply indulge in the only thing that she did for enjoyment in her free time - books. This being a festival, games and food weren't the only thing being sold in abundance. The sheer amount of new stalls that formed a market ensured that there were at least a few odd commodities out, some of which were rare or old books that weren't typically sold around here. Phoebe's supply of literature had dried up a few months ago, so this was a welcome opportunity to restock.

So she found herself wandering around the festival once more, though this time around, not as aimlessly. She kept her eye open for stalls or booths that had books for sale. Considering how much money she'd earned on her jobs and how little of it she actually spent, she could buy as many as she wanted - the only problem would be how to transport all of them back to her room at the guild hall.

It's been a few minutes since she had walked away from Kitala and the others, and she had yet to find a decent book. Quantity of supply did not necessarily guarantee an abundance of quality, it seemed.
whos free for phoebe?

. . .

Phoebe blinked, an action that most likely none would catch under the shadow of her hood, and revised what she knew about the relationship between Kitala and Xerath; no, they were not in an intimate relationship, and no, they were not on a date. Why then was the girl so angry? Surely she couldn't be so childish as to actually get mad over a fallen donut? One that was already recovered for her? Under the cover of her hood, Phoebe's lip curled down slightly, in an expression that was almost distaste. Her earlier remark about her childishness may have been more on the mark than she thought.

Before she could form a solid thought on that though, her attention was diverted to Sihu. Kurai? Wasn't that a guild mate of hers? She wasn't particularly close with him - or anyone in the guild for that matter - but she was aware that he was something of a combat junky, and so was Sihu, for that matter. What was the relation between the two? she wondered. In any case, she still had to give her an answer.

"I'm afraid I do not know," she answered honestly. "I am from Harpy's Wing, yes, but I'm not particularly close with him." She ended with a shrug of her shoulders.

Pulling her hood tighter over her head, Phoebe turned away from the rest of the group. "If you require . . . nothing else, I will be going," she said, dipping her head and walking away quickly. She'd rather not be around no less than three members of Golem's Hand, with two of them being highly destructive S-class mages, and the one having a choleric temper; staying around any one of them was tempting fate enough as it was.
So who's free for interaction? Gotta know, for Phoebe :)
@Leslie Hall Looks fun! For me at least, since I'm imagining future interactions between him and Phoebe. They have a surprising number of parallels.
