Death, Oil and Paradise

The South American country of Melizea is a long time failed petrol state. Dependent almost completely on oil and tourism, her shores have long been infested with a line of unstable military commandants, jefe's and puppet presidents. 2020 is no different, with an upcoming election that is all but a farce, the poor will continue on being poor, the rich will get richer and all will be well. Reports of a unique new strain of rabies in rural China are barely a bloop on the radar. Melizea is home to nearly thirty-nine million people, sharing a border with three other countries and host to the island nation of San Sofía just off the coast.

Mechanics of Death, Oil and Paradise
- Presidential Election
  • All players will vote in a preliminary election to determine the President of Melizea.
    • All players have one vote.
    • In the case of a tie, a random winner will be assigned.
    • The President lasts 6 turns, and then a new election is held.
  • Choosing a Cabinet
    • The President will choose a cabinet for the below positions, dependent on player count.
      • 3 Players: Minister of Security, Minister of Defense
      • 4 Players: Minister of Security, Minister of Defense, Foreign Minister
      • 5 Players: Minister of Security, Minister of Defense, Foreign Minister, General of the Army
      • 6 Players: Minister of Security, Minister of Defense, Foreign Minister, General of the Army, Admiral of the Navy
    • Each Minister has it's own unique ability.
      • Minister of Security: Has control of the Secret Police, may move them according to his will and order their Alignment.
      • Minister of Defense: Has control of Military Spending to purchase new military units and assign them to a General or Admiral. May issue orders to the General and Admiral.
      • Minister of Foreign Minister: Handles all Foreign Requests.
      • General of the Army: Has control of his own Army units, may move them according to his will and order their Alignment.
      • Admiral of the Navy: Has control of his own Navy units, may move them according to his will and order their Alignment.
    • Goal of the Game
      • Melizean Objective: The objective of all players is to ensure the State of Melizea continues to function as a nation and does not descend into complete anarchy, this is determined by the Stability Rating.
        • Stability Rating: 0 to 10.
        • There are 6 Provinces in Melizea and control of each gives 1 Stability Rating. There is also 1 point for having a Functional Government. This means the game starts at 7 Stability.
      • Personal Objective: When the game starts, a list of X Hidden Objectives + 1 (X being the number of players) will be dealt down in order of: President, Security Minister, Defense Minister, Foreign Minister, Generals, Admirals that each player can select. This is their own personal objective to achieve during the game.
      • If the Melizean Objective is accomplished but not their Personal Objective, they still lose.

Will we have a discord as well or?

If you would like to make one, you can.

EDIT: If we get 7 players I'll add the Minister of Finance.
If you're interested, post a character. Once we have 3 characters, I'll take it IC and wait a bit longer to let others join/create their character before we start the election.

1 vote each. First to 3 wins.
I'm thinking:

Banana Republic: 1970-1980's style Latin American military junta on the verge of a zombie outbreak. (1 Vote)

Mr. President: 2020 North American-esque country during a zombie outbreak.

Osteria: 1100's High Ages Medieval Europe-esque country during a zombie outbreak. (1 Vote)

Or could do one where everyone has their own country, but I cannot see this being quite as fun.

I would honestly prefer nations unless the separate factions were big enough.

I'm thinking.

Edit: Or could be a medieval elective aristocratic empire (IE: Holy Roman Empire) with a zombie epidemic.

Interesting idea

Players representing their own nation or all the players as separate factions in the same country?
