hello wait why does your avatar give off red hood vibes

I have no idea. So, are we doing a Justice League more focused on the magic side of DC things then?
I heard the call of the bump
@TheRedWatcher Alright, I would suggest a slight editing of your background to make more reference to House Vyjapult since if the King directly contacted and brought you into the kingdom, they'd most likely make you directly crown vassals because of the silver. It could be that House Vyjapult, who had more exprience in the mountains than the troops of the crownlands, managed to send messengers and peacefully brought you into the fold with the promise of stopping the very greedy then-king from just taking all the silver his men could load on to a cart.

The other issue is House Echo claiming to be a Great House through the already existing Great House of Vyjapult but I have a possible explanation since normally Great Houses are not vassals of anyone but the King. One of the clauses in the agreement that brought them into the kingdom was that they would be "elevated to the same status as House Vyjapult", not really knowing they were a great house or what that even was. Knowing this, the Vyjapults agreed since they knew that in your isolation from the politics of the kingdom, you wouldn't really know how to press your privileges and rites as a Great House or that you even could. Plus it seems that Merta specifically wouldn't care for that stuff even if he knew the details. Plus your silver wealth would likely have played a part in your recognition.

Otherwise, I can't spot anything that really jumps at me and so I declare you Duke Merta of House Echo, Lord of the Frozen Tears! Try not to kill too many zealous preachers who go galivanting into your mountains for gods know what reason and be active in the story, even if you are an otherwise isolated people.

Will do. BC and I were still working all of those sort of background stuff out, its why I hadn't added it, but I will.

And Awesome. We House of Echo do not kill people, the Deities hands take them.
@TheRedWatcher Two quick questions.

1. How long ago was the Frozen Tears incorporated into the kingdom? This is more of me asking for a clarification, I don't need a specific time just something general, but the modern shape of the kingdom has been in place for about a thousand years now. My current understanding is that they've always lived there but because they're isolated by rough terrain and weather and because people didn't think they were anything more than just cold mountains, you weren't really "discovered" until more recently when all of the stuff happened.

2. What is your relation to House Vyjapult? Are they directly sworn to them? Or are they sworn to someone else who in turn is sworn to Vyjapult? Basically where are they on the pecking order?

1) You would be correct. This was a more recent discovery. Since they were so remote, no one knew that anyone was living up there. The Great Grandfather of Varan is the one who discovered the Silver and the people of the mountains.

2) And they are directly sworn to the House Vyaput.
So Merta is finished, he's connected with @BCTheEntity character.

If I may interject, I've got no issues RP-ing with a character who communicates through signs. The manner in which how other characters deal with them would also make for some interesting ad-hoc development, I feel.

And I have already provided the solutions:
-Writing
-Universal Gestures do exist, Even if two people speak two opposite languages, basic hand gestures are a thing: waving at someone, pointing at something, the gesture for cup and drink
-I was just adding the addition of Sign Language on top of that because forms of sign language do exist and we have evidence of them existing
-I also never fully stated the character doesn't talk, I haven't fully fleshed out the deafness of the character yet and how that affects him. I was simply asking if I was allowed to have the character.

But I, as someone with partial hearing loss, was just giving information in order to build the character and how he would communicate with others.

@ClocktowerEchosHand gestures are relatively universal as well. Gesturing for a cup, the sign for drinking water, the sign for writing, etc. Gestures and Sign Language is how they would communicate with people.
@TheRedWatcher Partially blind like they're missing an eye is fine but it they're almost blind that might be an issue. Along with with deafness (assuming total deafness), its unlikely they would actually be in a position to take place in the RP beyond a diet Tyrion Lannister. There's nothing like sign language so they'd have to just write out everything and glassmaking in use for lens hasn't gone beyond telescopes and navigational equipment.

Actually:

They didn't have what we would consider American Modern Sign Language or the Sign Language that we would consider used today, but they actually did have sign language. As well as written language. I have actually done this research before for my own fantasy themed novel once with a Deaf character.

Also Emperor Hadrian was rumored to be hard of hearing. According to one account: Hadrian was so deaf that he had to cup his hand behind his ear, even while riding into battle.

There are differing degrees of Deafness as well beyond just Full or Partial.
@TheRedWatcherread my CS, he’s a cripple. So…. Fill your boots I reckon.

I was just looking over that. My enthusiasm got the best of me. ^.^ '
