Definitely didn't imagine it, not with these other people also suddenly here, I guess time travel isn't the most outlandish thing No answers are forthcoming within his mind, just a general sense of shared confusion.

Neither Albert, nor any of the voices in his head had ever heard of a Rift, let alone a way to not make one not explode.
He briefly considers asking whether anyone else does, but discards the idea as unlikely to get a response in time, he's not sure they even heard him speak before.
Still, there's one thing he can do, he's felt it within him since he realised time was stopped, just didn't think a panicking crowd would make life easier. Once he's decided what to do, a simple gesture of his hand sends a faint ripple outward, time resuming its normal flow, at least as far as he can see.

As for those mechanics

Gone through writing bullet points as I read them, hope that's useful to you. I really hope it's not too negative because the setting intro sounds great.

• That's a lot of hp, if you're doing only 1 damage per turn (and therefore per attacking post) it's going to take a long time to whittle each other down. Even the best case scenario is 5 turns (and that's without missing)
• A longer fight wouldn't be bad if it was interesting, but with how simple it is, there's not going to be much variety in tactics. Just not sure how interesting anyone can make doing the same thing 5-10 times in a row sound.
• I'd suggest making the fights shorter by handing out less hp/more damage, fights in the games are usually pretty fast after all.
• You could try for a more complicated system, but I know a few attempts that have been made to turn pokemon into a ttrpg and it's a lot of work and it really doesn't seem necessary for what you've planned, so I'm not about to suggest it.
• So with the current system I think toxic would be a bit OP, with how long these fights would take that increasing poison damage would stack up fast, by the third turn it's outdone a super effective same type attack by 50%.
• Similarly, paralysis being a 4/5th chance to not attack seems a bit high and would really drag things out. It's strong already in the games with only a 1/4 chance to stop you acting.
• Sleep might be OK, it'll take far fewer turns away than paralysis, which feels a tad backward, but is more on how crazy an 80% paralysis chance is. It is rather effective, but that's true of the games, I'd suggest doing what they do any making sleep inflicting attacks less accurate, probably just a 50% chance since stats aren't a thing.
• Confusion is similar to paralysis, shuts things down way too hard.
• Stat influence seems a little unlikely to do anything, but otherwise fine.
• I think you might want to make levelling a little faster, only every 20th level actually does anything in your system and with 3 battles per level that's 60 of them. In general one thing I've seen from other pokemon games, and ttrgps in general is that you probably don't want to actually simulate grinding against random encounters.
• Not sure what to say about the contests, sounds pretty close to the games I guess, I've never really paid much attention to those so haven't got much to say, sorry.

In general if I had one big suggestion, make a setup that'll make resolving encounters with Gym Leaders and Villains fun, and don't worry too much about the random encounters on routes, closer to what you'd read in a fanfic or see in anime (not that I've actually watched that since gen 4). There's a big difference between running back and forth in some grass pressing the A button and writing out a full description of every turn after waiting for another person to roll some dice. Of course this is subjective.

With the final word Albert follows directions that go beyond words, with a clenching of his fist and a touch of darkness madenning, all consuming fear floods the minds of his opponents.

Albert was not sure precisely who any of these people were, still it wasn't hard to guess which side he should be on, glowing red eyes were never a good sign and he could almost see the malevolence radiating from Lucian.
As he considers that fact a familiar voice echoes in his mind "Now that's a familiar feeling, whatever other abilities that man has, he's deep into the dark side, but don't tunnel vision, the old man has quite the force presence of his own."

"Happy to help, but I really hope there's an explanation when we're done." Calls out Albert as he acts, a sweep of his hand sending three balls of blazing hellfire toward Lucian and sickle shaped blades of magic towards the red eyed men.

Albert quickly makes his way through the complex, faster than he could have if the people filling the halls were actually moving. He's at the entrance to the main stage before he consciously realised that's the direction he was headed.
Initially he doesn't see anything different, just more frozen people, mostly staring at the stage itself. But as he turns to wander elsewhere, another of his new friends spoke up in his head.
"Not so fast, remember what I said before, when you encounter a coincidence or wander somewhere seemingly by chance, that's not chance, that's the force sticking its nose into your life, and it's probably best to roll with it. Let it guide us, I think the stage is why we're here."
Albert hadn't had company in his head for long, but they'd yet to steer him wrong, possibly because they are him? Point is that he did as suggested, approaching the stage, at which point he notices the drops of blood, and isn't it weird that he doesn't even entertain the notion it's anything else, and more importantly the fact that the people lying on stage were not actually frozen, their chests moving slightly as they breathed.

Albert had just finished taken of the VR gear in one of the demo booths and was slipping his leather jacket back on, still impressed that a venue this packed could actually manage to remain cold when he noticed the people around him remaining perfectly still.
"Huh, did I miss the start of some weird publicity stunt, maybe for that puzzle game with the time stop gimmick." He thinks to himselves.
"If only, can't you feel it, that itch on a limb that's not there, someone nearby has stopped time." Replies a voice within his head.

Name: Albert Robinson

Appearance: A 6' tall american man with short brown hair and hazel eyes, looks to be about 20 (is actually late 20s). Favours a brown leather jacket and blue t-shirt and jeans, that timelessly casual look. Creases on his face give the impression of frequent smiling.

Concept: Albert is a friendly guy, does IT work for one of the many tech companies in and american city, good pay but nothing exciting. He's a friendly, normal guy, with some interesting new friends in his head and a desire to do good for its own sake.

RC1: Soma Cruz, Castlevania series, Aria and Dawn of Sorrow games
- Vibe: Japanese high school student, the reincarnation/heir of Dracula with his power of chaos, who rejected that dark path twice over, deciding that if the world needs.
- Powers: The Power of Dominance, absorbing souls to gain their power, skilled with a variety of weapons from sword and whips to guns, flight, shapeshifting, and varied magic. Greater than human strength/durability.

RC2: The Exile, Main character of KotoR 2
- Vibe: An experienced Jedi who abandoned the force, only to regain it and reach new heights, with an unconventional philosophy on it as a result.
- Powers: Unarmed and Lightsaber combat mastery, a wide variety of force powers from both sides, including telekinesis, lightning, healing, occasional far-seeing, combat precognition and danger sense. An unusal affinity for force bonds.

RC3: Severus Snape, from Harry Potter series
- Vibe: Competent but unpleasant wizard, spy, on the 'right' side despite many flaws.
- Powers: Magic, in the form of a fairly broad, yet finite number of spells, magic potions, teleportation, stunning people, mind reading, protecting ones own mind.
