Paulina burst out laughing at the girl's response.
"And so quick with the comeback! I like you." She let her legs swing back and forth as she gave the girl an approving smile.
"I was just surprised to see Liam sitting peacefully with one of the fairer sex. His friends are a little," her head tilted, as though she was trying to think of the proper word,
"shall we say, protective." Paulina winked at the flustered boy.
It was an understatement, to say the least. Her first few attempts to interact with the medium had resulted in a lot of laundry trips and a broken arm, but as time had passed the spirit world had seemed to have accepted a truce with the dark-haired enchantress.
"So, while he's a very nice boy, Liam and I never really "hit it off", as my mother would say." Paulina shrugged and smiled, though her eyes remained fixed on Korie with undisguised interest.
"But, if you're both single, who knows what could happen to the bold? I've seen stranger things."Her jovial mood, however, evaporated as Alister doubled over, and the bespectacled boy instantly became the center of her attention. She didn't miss the change of color in his eyes, or the sudden change in his temperament. Something was definitely amiss with him, but it seemed to have passed.
"Ali's fine. I've seen this happen occasionally, whenever he gets cocky." Paulina waggled her finger at Alister, frowning in mock disapproval.
"Naughty boy." The look in her eyes, however, conveyed that the two of them would definitely be having words about it later.
She turned her attention back to the new girl.
"So! Korie, right? I'm Paulina. What fantastic and mysterious things brought you to our fine academy?"@Dusksong@KiritoAsuna@Themerlinhawk
