Thanks for the consideration, but I think I'll pass on this one (I always think I have more free time than I do). Best of luck to you guys moving forward.
Yikes. That bad, huh?

You already look like you've got plenty of characters to work with, so if you don't think it's a good fit, I'll just sit this one out. Your call, always open to notes but if you think the concept is fundamentally flawed then I'll just bow out gracefully.
Oh boy, should be a fun one. What a time to be alive!

Hi all, just wanted to check interest on a Legend of Zelda roleplay based off of an alternate "what-if" timeline of Skyward Sword. Looking for a group of 4-6 players and a co-GM. I've always liked examining darker alternate possibilities in otherwise lighthearted stories, and I rarely see any interest in Skyward Sword's setting for Zelda RPs so I wanted to give it a shot. I figure we can mix in some fun school RP elements due to the Skyloft Knight Academy being such a central part of Skyward's Swords plot, but it would still primarily be a fantasy adventure in line with most Zelda stories.

In this alternate timeline, Link (and Groose) failed in their second fight against the Imprisoned and the Sealed Temple was destroyed as a result. Demise broke free of his seal, and with no one to stand in his way, quickly conquered the surface using his army of evil. The people of Skyloft never knew much of Link's quest beneath the clouds and at first didn't think much of his prolonged absence, but when hordes of winged beasts begin to emerge from the holes in the cloud barrier Link left behind, Headmaster Gaepora and the rest of the Skyloft Knights came to realize the true peril of their situation.

Although the knights fought valiantly in an attempt to stave off the first few waves of invaders from below, it soon became apparent that they could no longer afford to keep the Columns of Light open in the hopes that Link (and Groose) might still be alive and trying to return home. With a heavy heart, the headmaster reluctantly removed the three Ancient Tablets from the altar in the Chamber of the Sword, closing off the last remaining connection between the skies and the surface world. Skyloft is safe, for now, but the loss of his daughter, his favorite student (and Groose) weighs heavily on Gaepora's mind, as does the ever-present danger of Demise's army growing unchecked on the surface below.

Ten years have passed since Link's disappearance, and despite the Headmaster's inner turmoil and worsening health, he has managed to keep the Knight Academy intact. Now bed-ridden and sickly in his old age, the issue of who will succeed him as Headmaster is beginning to cause unrest among the rest of the Knights. Gaepora's steady hand and fatherly demeanor have helped see Skyloft through this harrowing time, but with the crisis on the surface still lingering in everyone's minds, it's clear that whoever takes over for him will decide the fate of the Skyloftian people if Demise should ever manage to pierce through the cloud barrier and launch another attack.

With the upcoming Wing Ceremony only a few days away, he is expected to announce his retirement and successor at the event. Our characters will be the Junior Class students chosen to participate in that ceremony in hopes of graduating to the Senior Class and attaining knighthood. However, the arrival of a heavy rainstorm threatens to postpone the ceremony (much to our characters' chagrin). When the downpour continues for two days straight, the Academy staff become suspicious. It seems as though that massive storm cloud on the horizon has begun to balloon outward...

So that's my rough idea for now. A lot of things are still up in the air (no pun intended), but I have most of the early story beats worked out. I was thinking that instead of the typical character sheets, we could fill out "report cards" for our Junior Class Knight characters that will give all the same info, just with a more "in-universe" framing device instead. Let me know if you'd be interested, I will probably pick a co-GM first and then open up the rest of the slots for auditions. I'm not a big fan of choosing my group based on "first come first serve" and I'd prefer a smaller, focused group of about 4-6 characters that would work well together and have room to develop over the course of the narrative.

Thanks for your time and have a nice day!
Bump. I'll get a character sheet up soon maybe.
Looks like we got some good interest.

@DepressedSoviet any preference on which side you'd like to play?
I have been thoroughly enjoying all the recent hype and build up for the second installment in the Rising Storm series, Rising Storm 2: Vietnam. In light of this I was wondering if there would be sufficient interest for a small group military/action RP set during the Vietnam War.

It would likely be set earlier on in the war, in 1963 shortly after Diem's assassination but while Kennedy was still alive. I think this will be a good time frame seeing as how the Americans are just starting to increase their involvement significantly and yet support for the VC insurgency is at an all time high, setting up some neat conflict we can play off of to get things rolling.

I'm not settled on which side we would be playing yet (I would even be open to the idea of players on both sides of the conflict within certain limits). Personally I think it might be fun to play as Vietnamese from hamlets in South Vietnam near the border, who are faced with the choice to join the insurgency and become Viet Cong or support the Americans and South Vietnamese armies. However, like I said, I'm open to suggestions and play whatever side has the most interest.

There will be a lot of guerilla combat and action, but also some political intrigue as public and internal perceptions of American involvement in Vietnam begins to sour. This being war, characters will die every now and again so expect a moderate turnover rate as the RP progresses. It will probably be mid-high casual. I think I'll take 4-6 applicants total, maybe more if someone wants to help me out and co-GM.

Let me know if you'd be interested. Thanks for your time.
