@LuckyBlackCat There are currently no rules about having more than seven Pokemon. You could theoretically have your character carry around an infinite number of Pokeballs, but I'd prefer if everyone used common sense and steered away from unrealistic situations.
"Then Joe Schmoe, balancing 100 Master Balls on his head, confidently strode into the Pokémon League, his beloved Tentaquil, true god of Pokémon and the swolest creature on this earth, by his side. Tentaquil suplexed the Champion and Joe Schmoe became the king of the region."
So Lunala was sort of the patron Pokémon of Stillwater. Charlotte always found interesting the types of Pokémon that were intelligent enough to exert guardian-like behavior… examples of which include the elusive legendary beasts of Johto, of which she had only heard of.
“Why don’t you get a little sleep?” Charlotte agreed, pulling out a laptop with an Aether Foundation vinyl sticker on the cover. She inserted the power cord into the port on the laptop and handed the pronged plug to Charjabug, who bit onto it and started humming with electricity, charging Charlotte’s computer. There was no Internet connection, but Charlotte just needed to compile the notes she made that day. “I’ve got a bit of work to do.”
She placed her computer on a wooden table and started to compile her notes.
”Pokémon appear to be agitated, but this is a result of interference from local ‘mythical’ Pokémon; confirmed reports of Darkrai’s presence may contribute to restlessness of Pokémon.
“From an ecological standpoint, the absence of modernization in Stillwater allows Pokémon to reach their most powerful evolved forms naturally and more quickly. There is an abundance of evolved Pokémon such as Sharpedo or Scolipede that exist in the wild. I predict food-chain hierarchies unlike those seen in more modernized areas; will perform more obsersazwzxdrcfghbjjknlm,.l;,“
Wimpod skittered onto Charlotte’s laptop and sat.
“Wimpod, what did I say about crawling on my laptop while I was using it?” Charlotte chided, gently picking the isopod Pokémon up off the keyboard and setting it on the table.
Wimpod chittered and hopped into Charlotte’s lap, before settling. Wimpod was quite light and frail, and didn’t put that much weight on Charlotte. Charlotte patted Wimpod’s head.
“I’ll give you some food when I’m finished working, ‘kay? I know sometimes I forget,” Charlotte said. “Thanks for reminding me.”
Charlotte corrected the error caused by Wimpod’s frantic legs skittering all over her keyboard.
”…will perform more observations tomorrow. Stillwater is home to many aquatic Pokémon, due to the town’s situation on the bayou. There are, however, Ghost-type, Dark-type, and Psychic-type Pokémon that travel throughout the city; notably, Inkay and Malamar, who are aquatic creatures but are classified as Psychic and Dark type Pokémon…”
“It could be like one of those things that just has eyes,” Juana suggested. “Like, Golett, maybe?”
She jotted down the pattern on the statue’s body: three multicolored eye-like lights on either side of the bronze strip, and the black divots up and down said strip.
She glanced towards Tora. Back in Feyhollow, she seemed quite skittish, as if it were outright dangerous for her to be in one place for too long.
“Well, this sure was an interesting trip. Cill’? Tora? Wanna hit the strip, pick up anything we need, and figure out where to go next?” she suggested.
Charlotte called her Pokémon back and accompanied Jason to the Pokémon Center. Charjabug, however, stayed out and inched alongside Charlotte.
As the old man healed their Pokémon, Charlotte spoke up. "There are a few behavioral studies on Darkrai; they're pretty scant, and they say that Darkrai creates nightmares as a self defense mechanism. That's all the studies could glean, though; these mythical Pokémon are just too elusive to observe in detail."
Charlotte tapped her chin. "But if this Darkrai issue had been taken care of, then why are the Pokémon still so agitated? For all I know they could still be on edge; they have been known to experience more complex emotional responses akin to that of humans."
“Okay,” Juana said chipperly. “I gotta take lots of pictures.”
It took a bit of walking down steps, but eventually the trainers would reach the mighty statue that stood in the bowels of the decrepit station. A titanic humanoid, it did not appear to have a head, but its body appeared composed of white marble, with bronze and obsidian lining its arms and legs. Its feet, however, were overgrown with moss and ivy, save for a couple of spots where tourists would rub the feet of the monument, supposedly for luck.
Juana looked up at the statue. “You know,” she said, folding her arms and tipping her head at the markings on the bronze strip bisecting the statue, “those little dots look kind of like a face.”
She grinned. “In any case, it’s a pretty sweet-looking statue,” she pointed out. “It actually looks like a few statues I read about in a book, though I can’t put my finger on it…”
Juana pulled out her little notepad and did a quick sketch of the titan. The more she looked at it, the more it seemed less like a statue and more like a slumbering goliath.
Charlotte pointed to the Scolipedes. “Klang, use Gear Grind on the leftmost one. Charjabug, Acrobatics on the rightmost.”
As Amyntas finished its Stomping Tantrum, Klang whizzed towards its target and gnashed the insect with its cogwheels. Meanwhile, Charjabug, with blinding speed, zipped through the air, hissing with an electrical buzz and started flailing all over the other Scolipede.
“Charjabug, now use Discharge,” she said. “But be careful.”
Charjabug’s eyes lit up in fury as electricity ran down its carapace, before shooting out all around it. Charlotte threw her own Golett out, and the sturdy Ground-type absorbed the electricity without so much as a blink. Charlotte had switched Klang out for Golett in order to not harm her Pokémon The Scolipedes, however, had it pretty bad. Charjabug had managed to paralyze one, and badly damage the other.
WC: 344 As it turned out, Brigan was unfazed by the fire, for the great giant general burst from the collapsing castle, eyes flaming in rage. Hapu shook her head, before turning towards the others.
It was then that she discovered that their problems were only growing, for the Demon Lord himself, Odin, was arriving with his hellish murder of Valkyries. Hapu saw how swiftly Odin’s strikes upended Fox McCloud and Luigi. Like vultures, the Valkyries circled around and fell towards them, one of them wearing that red cap that Mario was so famous for. Hapu narrowed her eyes. This was a foul omen, but she had more pressing issues to take care of.
For instance, the Valkyries heading straight towards her. Three of them, to be exact. Hapu backpedaled and expanded Mudsdale’s Poké Ball. She saw James firing his weapon towards the Valkyries headed towards her. She gave James a quick nod, then calculated the time it would take to release her Pokémon.
“Mudsdale, now! Come out with a High Horsepower!” Hapu ordered, tossing the Poké Ball into the air. The capsule burst open, and Mudsdale began falling towards the Valkyries. The horse maneuvered slightly, its legs out ready to kick towards the leftmost Valkyrie’s gut. Mudsdale let out a furious whinny, glaring down at the Valkyries as it prepared to strike.
She turned back to James. “With all due respect, James, I would appreciate any further help in keeping these wights from destroying us, for Mudsdale is not exactly the most agile Pokémon on Alola,” she requested. She turned back towards the other Valkyries, and faked right, before diving out of the way in an attempt to dodge the screaming warriors.
The situation seemed quite bad, but Hapu took comfort in the fact that Oswald knew that the teams shared the goal of saving the world from this virus, or at the very least in defeating the infested Demon Lord. Hapu assessed the situation; Brigan may have been a coward and a sneak, but Gwendolyn’s commanding air effectively roped him into this unsteady alliance.
Heeding Oswald's concerns, Hapu nodded in understanding. One does not simply allot a stranger's horse to whisk away their dearly beloved. As the Shadow Knight disappeared, Hapu looked around at the collapsing castle around her. "Indeed, we need to evacuate as soon as possible," she agreed. She was unequipped to strike Brigan's armor, for attempting to do so would likely result in Brigan breaking every collective bone in her and Mudsdale's body. She turned towards Samus and James, who were firing rounds at Brigan's armor to cause as much damage to his defenses as possible.
"We ned to evacuate!" she warned, before hurling her Poké Ball and jumping on the flash, riding Mudsdale towards the exit of the castle. Mudsdale skirted around crumbling rubble and burning tapestry, stamping out any flames under its clay-caked hooves. She doubted that Samus and James would survive such a destructive fire at its core, so she would not break down the walls with High Horsepower until Luigi said to.
Mudsdale grunted as it galloped through the foyer; the horse spun around and with a swift kick it broke the door down, and Hapu and her horse escaped.
Hapu and Mudsdale skidded to a halt as Naija arrived, warning the group of Demon Lord Odin's approach.
Meanwhile, Samus and James exited the castle. Hapu had heard Luigi's call that the fire would make the interior of the castle more dangerous; therefore, with Brigan still stuck inside, it would behoove the team to make him as uncomfortably warm in there as possible. Hapu slid off her horse, and pointed towards the wall of the castle. "Mudsdale, High Horsepower on the wall."
Mudsdale reared, whinnied, and galloped towards the spot in the wall of the crumbling castle. The horse swung around and with a mighty buck smashed the wall in an attempt to feed more fresh air to the flaming castle, and thus help the blaze braise Brigan into a baked barbarian barbecue.
"Mudsdale, return," Hapu said, calling her horse back before it could get too licked by the flames. Fire wasn't overly dangerous for the Ground-type (while it did not resist fire, attacks of its type were quite effective against flames and flaming Pokémon), but the horse would not appreciate getting burned.
