Vespera Spindel

As the spectre turned to get a look at her, Vespera tried to do likewise to no avail. The strangers face was also concealed in their cowl. She had never heard anyone speak like it before, but she wasn’t satisfied with it’s response. In all likelihood I could have told you that. There were only a handful of people at the academy she had a smidge of respect for, and she whoever this was wasn’t one of them. “Sure you are… except one thing. I’ve smelt you before.” The first time she remembered doing so was a few years into her stay. At the time she was too nervous to investigate further. It’d come up up every now and again, but she generally didn’t try to track it’s source. She assumed that however it was would eventually slip up and unveil the mystery, but it never happened. Until now that is.

“I’ll find out one way or another, there’s only so many people you could be.” By a process of elimination her suspect would have to a long attending student that still hadn't displayed their power. The figures height was inconvenient though. No doubt a transformational power, which gave her no physical insight as to who was under the mask. Vespera moved on to the next thing she wanted to know. “Are you at least able to tell me what brings you up here? It’s always just been me and my lonesome.” She had enough of the rain, so she created a makeshift umbrella for herself. As soon as she’d done so the stranger moved so fast Vespera was unable to sense where she had gone. There was always it’s scent trail, but in the rain it was going to be washed away too quickly to be of use in tracking it.

Vespera clamped her jaw in frustration. Next time they met there would be a reckoning. She'd wrap her quarry up and unmask it by force if need be.

Poppy Flanagan

Kristen and her walk on the beach was cut short by the weather. Still it didn’t get the older girl down, and the same went for Poppy. So long as they were together. It was too early to retire quite yet, so she settled on the lounge. As soon as she got out of range of her pheromones she wasn’t so sure anymore. Still the rain was enough motivation to get under the overhang. There she sat outside, her hand shakily resting on the nob. As the emotions from earlier came rolling back it only got worse. It was cold outside and she wanted to go in, but she was afraid of what might happen. On the same token the last thing she wanted was somebody to see her glued to the door handle. The result was that she froze and started getting worked up. Only when the first tear rolled down her face did she stop to get a grip. Wiping it from her cheek she forced herself through the entry with her eyes half shut. She zeroed in the the nearest sofa and pulled herself onto it’s soft leather folds. Only then did she take a nervous once over of the room and it’s inhabitants before locking her gaze on the floor before her.
Karlie Davis and Seth Maxwell

“Why’s it so bright…” Karlie mumbled as she squinted her against the harsh light above. She sat up and looked around at her sterile white environment. Whoa, what am I doing here? The last thing she remembered was emerging into a clearing only to become frozen in fear. Locked in combat with Henry and a tall hooded figure was a demonic beast. A monster. Then the ocean suddenly got much closer. In the form of a roaring wave bore down on her, and knocked the wind out of her. That explained it, but there was something seriously wrong.

Where’s my kitty costume? And for that matter the backpack with the rest of the outfits she had brought along. There was no need to look to affirm that she was pantiless in a patient gown. She had to know what had become of her beloved clothing, and furthermore she had to get into some of them. The faster the better. Although, Karlie couldn't deny that the soothing, regenerative effect the gown was granting her wasn't at all unpleasant. The tenderness from her flop off the falls was well gone. Recovery time was over nonetheless. After all she didn't even do anything. It was eating up her normal cheery self. Whenever she really wanted to help out in a meaningful way she screwed up. Eventually she stopped even trying.

The least she could do was drop in on Henry. Which lead her back to square one. Where were her stuff. Sitting around wasn't going to do anything, so Karlie pulled out the IV and slid out of bed. It wasn't at all unexpected when her skin healed in it’s wake. This wasn't her first time being in a hospital since acquiring her power. She marched into the hall, flagging the closest staff member she saw. A tall sharply dressed man with oily black hair. She considered inquiring if whoever dressed her liked what they saw, but she decided against it. “I could use my stuff, and a place to change”

“Right in there.” Seth motioned a little ways up the hall. “Hold a moment.”He then disappeared into a nearby room emerging shortly with her backpack. It was soaked and smelled of salty brine. Seeing the look on the girls face he added “My apologies.” For the good it would do. Which wasn’t very much. His gaze tracked her beneath the lenses of his glasses. Such a fascinating power.

Today really wasn't her day with water. Karlie turned and sulked off oblivious to the mans creepy staring. Once she shut the door and dumped out it’s contents Karlie knew exactly what she was going to wear. The florescent green of her lizard costume. It was full body featuring built into foot covers, gloves, and a headpiece. So much for wringing anything out. She didn't have the motivation to try, and even if she could get one dry it’d still have to be washed later. At first the damp cloth against her skin made her cringe, but she got over it. That had to be a sure fire way to show her support, right? Only one way to find out.

When Karlie was all geared up she headed out and towards the elevator. The man from earlier hadn't moved and was looking over documents. He called out to her as passed. “Allow he to introduce myself. I’m power instructor Seth Maxwell, but you may call me Seth. That’s an interesting choice of attire, but I understand your reasoning.” If she had been more fully clothed he’d have pressed for a name earlier, so he took the opportunity to do so now that she was. He didn’t foresee this though. Her power appears to change with her clothes as well. I wonder to what extent. Her choice in a lizard costume might involve Henry.

“Hello, again!” Karlie waved inside of her reptile costume. “I’m Karlie Davis, nice to meet you. Do you know where Mr. Henry is?” Technically he was a doctor, but she called him that anyways. She associated that word with uptight people

“Likewise, and he’s on the floor below.”

“Thanks, see you later Mr. Seth.” With that she sprinted off before she could get sidetracked too much.

“May I accompany you? I've been meaning to check in now that he’s awake.”

Karlie shrugged, it wasn't really her place and she didn't care either way.

There was an older man inside the elevator when the door opened. Presumably a doctor, what she did know is he gave her the strangest of looks. Whatever. From there she migrated towards the room with the most commotion. Seemed like a good bet to her, Henry did have a decent following. Sure enough he already had visitors, Adam and surely others before him. She filed in past him with Seth following in suit. Neither of them said anything at first, which was uncharacteristic for Karlie. It was hard to see Henry in such condition, even if he was going to make a full recovery.

Vespera Spindel

Once things died down after the fight Vespera vacated the lounge. She needed some real entertainment. If cracking skulls in the arena wasn't an option she’d find something else to get her blood pumping. There were some inhuman sounds coming from the jungle. They made her shiver, but were no where near enough literally and metaphorically to phase her. Nothing but experience would convince would convince her anyone or anything was a true threat. A challenge perhaps, but that’s what she lived for. Or so she thought. So long as she wound up on top everything was fine.

Then it had to start raining, which was inconvenient, but wouldn't put too big a hamper on her plans. It was tempting to go indoors, so she reminded herself that most spiders are only functional in moist environments. She wouldn't get very far as a predator if getting a little wet stopped her. However, too much of a good thing was a bad thing. Any body of water large enough to emerge herself was a totally different story.

Unfortunately there wouldn't likely be anyone outside to spy on, but it didn't change where she was going. The rooftops. It was the one place on the academy she could rely on for solitude. When she was younger she spent a lot of time atop the dorms, sometimes she’d spin webs, much to the displeasure of the staff. All of that was behind her now. It was no her perch from which observed the other residents from on high. Her self declared seat of power in the wretched world. Except this time she wasn't alone.

As she neared the top she caught the scent of a foul creature and instinctively braced for conflict. Exactly what it was was unknown, she was sure she’d smelt it before though. In any case this was her territory and she wasn't one for sharing. She pulled herself up sauntered over towards what appeared to be tall cloaked figure stopping at a distance. The idea was close enough to talk, but not so much she couldn't defend herself. An important measure since she had decided not transform. Yet.

“Who might you be?” Vespera said in neutral tone loud enough to be heard clearly over the downpour. She would see what this intruder was about out of curiosities sake before sharing her roost, or more likely prompting whoever it was to return their rightful place bellow.
Woot, finally back on the 13th IC page. Was annoyed with not being able to follow the direct link to the latest post.
Karlie Davis

Karlie looked over the edge of the waterfall, then down at her outfit. "Well poo..." She took off her hat followed by her boots and socks. I wish I had known what we were doing ahead of time... Oh well. All the other costumes were animal ones, all of which were more cumbersome than her safari getup. Some were even full body. That meant it was good as it going to get, with the exception of stripping down more. If this group was a smaller gang of friends she very well might have. Then there was the fact that this outing was headed by a teacher, who was already in the water. Wonder what he'd think if I dropped down in my panties. She chuckled a little as she tossed her backpack to the side. "Well, here goes nothing." Karlie rolled her shoulders back and tilted her head side to side before running off the edge. In the brief moment before she hit the water she realized something. All the other times she had done this sort of thing the swimsuit she wore made her good at it. Time she sorta just flailed in midair as she plummeted into the water bellow. Were this at a public pool there would have been a loud smack, likely accompanied by flinching from onlookers. As it was the sound of the falls drowned out the noise. Her toes all the way up to her belly were on fire. She scrambled for the surface, a few tears accompanied the droplets that clung to her face. Karlie used to be a decent swimmer, but she didn't give her power proper credit in that department until now. Gritting her teeth she struggled for the shore. She was going to be good not cliff diving for a while. On the bright side of things at least she could say that she did it. Henry was the last thing on her mind until she reached a rock she could hold on to, only then did she begin to scan the surface for him. All the while she clutched her abdomen and rubbed it gently.

Vespera Spindel

Does this girl have a deathwish? Vespera's tracked Shannon coolly. She was stone faced the entire time, in fact she didn't move a muscle. When she left she sneered contemptuously. Let her think that she can just walk away. All I have to do is wait until later. Then she'll see just how much I like attention. Not very much. At least not undue attention. She was a little ticked at being singled out by someone other than her target. They were roommates so there was no escaping her. Well to start off with I can make the room much more... homey. That's not the word most would use, more like a lair. Blocking the light from the window entirely and draping her webs all over the place. In the past she had done things like create a cover for the light that had shapes cut out of it. This time she had the idea to hang an effigy of Shannon in the doorway. It wouldn't really resemble her all that much, there were limits to her power. Still it would be clear who made it, and it really couldn't be for anyone else. No no, I'll have to confront her first. Save that for later.

Then she became a little more alert as a clear bestial type entered the lounge. Vespera moved around the table to get a better view, then made contact with the cue ball once more. Her speech was so unrefined that were it not for her visible power she'd have turned away. Figures that she's friends with the mute. She looked over at blacky to see how he was reacting to being ignored right in front of him. Everything flipped when she indicated that she smelt bad. The pool cue in her hands started shaking a little. On the first day of school she had been made a fool of not once, but twice in succession. Her eyes briefly flashed and she shuddered as her skin momentarily began to darken. During her little disconnect the two newcomers had stood up and were heading out the door. Good riddance. Now maybe she would have a chance, though she was beginning to get the idea that it'd be more entertaining to string him than chat him up. Vespera was still a little conscious of the previous comment, so cut her pheromone excretion in half before approaching him. "Hold your face like that much longer and it might stick. Imagine how much a charmer you'd be then." She didn't look at him entirely when speaking, and she flicked her hand as if she was trying get something off it.

Seth Maxwell

Adam ran after Poppy, and Seth followed much more casually. A brisk walk aided by his long slender legs. He didn't have to go that far, it looked as if another student had managed to pacify her. He leaned forward and adjusted his glasses. Pheromones. A coincidence he assumed. Nobody could have planned this safety net, not even himself. By the time he got up to Adam the girls were nearly out of view. Things seemed to be going nicely and he surely wasn't going to follow them forever. I wonder where they're headed... Then he snapped back to Adam. He couldn't lose his train of thought. While he was curious they were less important than the task at hand. "I presume everything is under control, for the moment at least." It wasn't the topic top of mind, but as a teacher he had other priories on top of his own. This whole island might as well have been a giant experiment to Seth. So long as he was high and dry he was content to let things run their natural course. "Next power training I'd very much like to work with her. It was unfortunate I was otherwise occupied earlier." From his stand point it sounded like things had gotten out of hand.
Kristen Schwally, Poppy Flanagan, & Adam Blackmore.
(Written in collaboration between Ciphra, True Night, and Mr Allen J)

After the capture the flag match had ended Kristen had quickly rushed out to get the bugs off of her. She hated bugs, well most bugs. She loved butterflies, but anything past that and she wanted them dead, or at least not touching her in any way. Better yet just leave them out of the same room. Of course these bugs were already dead, which actually made it worse. Luckily Kristen was able to clean herself pretty easily and get dressed again. Unlike everyone else though, she had taken her time to do everything. She was hoping to meet up with Gabriela and Jake, but she still had to see Adam.

Before she left to go see Adam though she decided to braid her hair again. After doinng so Kristen rushed out to head over to Adam to finally get the help she had needed for so long. She was actually quite excited. Of course there was still the problem of demonstrating for Adam. Kristen giggled at the thought of how uncomfortable the teacher had gotten now that she was looking back on the whole situation. Now to get some answers! She was almostst to the door when she heard someone running. Kristen raised an eyebrow and just as she did a girl ran out of the door and ran right into Kristen knocking her to the ground. "Ow." Kristen squinted in minor painas she continued, "You alright?" Leave it to Kristen to be worried about the other person!

Poppy hardly looked where she was going as she fled from the training hall. It was mostly a straight shoot so she didn't run into anything though. Except when she exited the building there was suddenly a person in her way. The two collided and wound up on the earth. She clutched her head and wiped her eyes to get a look at whoever she bowled over. A rather pretty girl with blonde hair and pretty blue eyes. "I'm so sorry..." Poppy sniffled. For whatever reason she wasn't feeling as distraught. Normally she probably would have picked herself right back up and wouldn't have stopped until she was back in the dorm room. This stranger made her want to stay. "No I'm not alright." After being babied by everyone in her life she didn't think anything of the other parties concern. Even if it was her mistake. "I'm Poppy" she added unceremoniously once again shirking her last name. There was clear evidence of crying across her face, though she was begging to calm down. Shocked out of despair by the surprise encounter. That and something in the air.

A few moments of pure running made Adam stop to catch his breath. God damn, I used to be better than this. He needed to get back into the chase. He can't give up when Poppy is charging. He was down the hallway, right at the exit. Poppy was right in his sights... And so was Kristen. He didn't know what happened, but his intuition said she stopped Poppy. It was risky, but he pegged Kristen as an easy way to end this situation. Her pheromones cause others to mirror her own emotions. Which meant that Poppy would feel any emotion but the one she's currently going through. Adam choose to stay in the sidelines, and give Kristen a little advice... If anything goes wrong, he would be the first to act. Adam switched to his telepathy power and sent Kristen a telepathic message, Kristen, do not be alarmed, it's Adam. Can you use your power to calm Poppy down? It's important. He didn't want to mention the immense danger Kristen could be in. He didn't want to pressure her, after all.

Kristen giggled. "How rude of me. I'm Kristen! Kristen Schwally. It's a pleasure to meet you Poppy!" She could tell Poppy had been crying and wondered what was wrong, and why. Of course it wasn't her place to press the matter, if Poppy wanted to talk to her then she would. Of course after she already decided to try and cheer up this girl Adam decided to pop into her head. God that was creepy! Kristen now understood why people didn't like people with mind powers. They could just pop into your head and mess with you! Luckily for Adam though, Kristen thought he was an okay guy.

Kristen stood up and offered Poppy a hand. "Well let's not sit around getting dirty Poppy! Wanna go for a walk or something? Get to know each other a little better?" Kristen figured she might as well make a new friend, plus now Adam would owe her one. Though it did irritate her a little that Adam wanted her to use a power she had no idea how to control, and the way he put it made her feel like she was supposed to manipulate Poppy, and she hated the thought of that, but luckily she was getting more excited at the prospect of making a new friend!

"It's nice to meet you too!" Already Kristen's pheromones were counteracting her bodies raging chemicals. If she stuck around for much longer her body would stop producing stress hormones all together and liken to the older girl. At the mention of dirt Poppy became self conscious and rand her hands across the part of her skirt that would have been soiled for good measure. "Okay... Where should we go?" Don't they have a campus tour or something. Unless they expected little her to be able to read and make sense of map boards around. They'd only just met and already she was feeling a closer connection with Kristen than she had with anyone else. Theresa included. Enough that she was eager to head off with her on a moments notice. Everything she was feeling only minutes ago felt like a distant dream. One that she would have to face again one they were over with their venture. She found herself hoping that they'd stay together for as long as possible. All the way up until curfew if she let her. Poppy wrapped her arms around Kristen's waist and would cling to her until she started moving.

Kristen smiled down at the girl and held her for a moment. She was glad that Poppy wanted to spend some time with her. "Well I just got here before class so I don't know too much about this place yet, but what about the beach?" For Kristen she always loved listening to the water, plus it was a beautiful sight to see. Then there was the part where she hadn't known about the jungle tour, whether that was due to her being late, or the fact that she never paid attention to anyone but her friends or unless she wanted to. She wondered if Adam would follow them though. If not then Kristen would feel more comfortable talking with Poppy. She would feel like she was actually a friend and not a spy.

It seems that things were going well, but Adam knew that Poppy is still a risk. Not one he'd let out of his sight easily. He was going to tail them. Just for a little while. He stayed out of their way as he followed. He would be in the corner of their eyes until something requires his immediate attention.
Seth Maxwell and Poppy Flanagan

A tall smartly dressed man walked briskly out of the teachers dorms. He was wearing a well pressed black topper coat with matching slacks. Since being invited to the academy, Seth had quickly become a valuable member of the staff. Unsurprisingly since when there was an odd man out his ability allowed him to take their place. At first he was the go to for when a substitute teacher was needed. However, after being there for a couple weeks he got his foot in the door enough that he could fill all manner of positions. Nothing high level, but the sort of things that require extensive education. When the school year began he shifted his primary focus to what he had come here to do. Though he was still very interested in things like working with and diagnosing difficult students. There was a lack of instructors that could teach any kind of power. The only other he knew of was Adam Blackmoore. He was a very sensible man, and Seth shared some things in common with him. In fact it was him who he was on his way to see.

Taking the most direct route across the grounds he entered the training building. While there smaller rooms, Adam was most likely in the main one after teaching a class. At first it looked empty, but sure enough there were a few straggling students. Two of which headed out as he approached. The remaining one was a barely adolescent little girl with a large, very messy head of hair. She was shaking enough that anyone could tell that she was nervous, and her chemical levels confirmed it without a doubt. This one was a no brainer, she was instinctively looking for comfort and guidance. He didn't have to form a deeper analysis of the situation to determine the best course of action. Seth increased his footfalls so that there was no doubt that she would here him coming. His bore a pleasant smile. "There's no need to fret. I'm Dr. Seth Maxwell, though you may call me simply by Seth." Titles were trivial to him, but a good measure to inspire confidence in his abilities. Which may seem even more vain, however it was them who were going to help this child. She's the one who needed to be convinced.

Theresa's drug had worn off, then to Poppy's horror she had to comb her hair free of bugs. It took her a long time in the stall and everyone once in a while there was a high pitched outburst from within. Inside she began to think about what had happened earlier. The warning about feeling funny earlier. Had she been altered by her most hopeful outlook for a friend? She wasn't sure how to feel until Dana and her skipped out upon seeing Adam. She didn't even acknowledge me... Now feeling alone with a hint of betrayal she was considering heading back to the dorm and not coming back out. That is if she didn't break down right in front of Adam. Needless to say she was not going on the jungle trip anymore. Then she heard somebody coming up behind her. She turned and listened to what he had to say. He was younger, and seemed nicer than Adam did. Looks could be deceiving, but she didn't have anywhere else to turn.

"What might your name be?" Seth knelled down greatly diminishing their gap in height. The last thing he wanted was to seem imposing. He offered his hand and waited for her to take it before leading her forward.

"Poppy..." Then she remembered how the teacher had introduced himself, which was how she was taught as well. "Poppy Flanagan" She quickly added. "It's nice to meet you Mr. Seth." This got a an amused smile from the man and he rose to his full height. Then he turned to Adam.

"How should we proceed?" He would get the point of his visit once this students needs were met. While he had several ideas of how to go about evaluating a new student Adam was the senior instructor. This was also his way of gauging how truly competent the man was beyond his initial impressions.

Vespera Spindel and Karlie Davis

Upon Adam disbanding the festivities the curtain of darkness dissipated. "We'll finish this another time, Asae" (I'm assuming she would have introduced herself). With that she slithered off with haste. A fast paced, graceful strut almost unbefitting of a human. Vespera always had a sinister, self righteous air about her. However, unlike some of the schools other egomaniacs she didn't need confirmation from anyone else. Thus there was no need to stick around. Same reason she opted out of capture the flag. Her suit was already put back in it's proper place when most of the others started filing into to the lockers. Then she was off back to her room. It was unusual to not have a date in the arena, but it didn't bug her nearly as much as people like Amanda would like to believe. Still she needed to make an impression some how. Vespera went through her trunk and produced a slender black gown. It's neck came to a V above the breasts, and silk-like material hugged her body. On the left side there was a part that exposed her leg and fishnet stockings. High heeled shoes, her ever present necklace, and veil completed her look.

Word of a jungle trip had spread around the school, however Vespera had no interest in such things. Arachnids thrive in just about every non-arctic environment, but she liked to think of herself as the urban spider. Masquerading in society was much more up her alley than living as a reclusive monster. In a lot of ways she was like a modern vampire. One that would be unleashed when she grew tired of the academy. For now it was off to the lounge. At the very least she could gather more information if nobody there was interesting. By the gates she passed a group centered around Henry who must have been getting ready to head out on their fools errand. She continued on narrowly avoiding getting ran into by dress up girl.

Karlie was no exception to hearing the rumors and was hopeful to be included. She donned her safari outfit and set off to find Henry. The lounge seemed a good place to start and sure enough there he was. In her excitement she barely noticed the woman she was shoving past was none other than Vespera. Her outfit was classier than usual, however it was ultimately her carelessness. There weren't many Gothic dressers and Vespera bore some distinguishing marks. The spider woman hissed under her breath and created a shadowy tripwire in front of her path.

"Hey guys! Mind if I come along too!" Karlie was dead set on going, but it wasn't polite to assume the right. Oh man, this is going to be so awesome! I've always wanted to hang out with Henry, and even better out in the wild. I wonder if he'll be like crawling along trees and stuff... Packed away inside her adventure backpack was a couple other costumes. One of them happened to be a lizard suit. Wonder what he's going to think she giggled to herself. Then she felt her leg abruptly jar as if something was caught on her foot. Next thing she knew the ground was coming at her and she hit it with a thud. What was that?... Karlie grumbled and got up. She brushed herself off and looked at the smooth ground. After a moment she passed it off with a shrug. It wouldn't have been the first time she's slipped on stable ground. While it could have been one of the others there was no use pointing fingers.

"I was... I was planning on that." Karlie grinned fully knowing that she wasn't fooling anyone. Though there was the possibility that somebody among them caught what happened. "Ooh, I know! Maybe I could ride on your back! That way that won't happen again." Many times she had seen him give rides to Theresa and Dana, then earlier Victoria. She didn't want to miss out on the full 218 experience. "Pretty please" she added before shuffling left and right with her hands behind her back. As she turned her body back and forth she kept her gaze on Henry. She bit her bottom lip a little. When she had her answer she would introduce herself to the others regardless of the result.

How clueless. Vespera took a meager glance behind her to see that blueberry wasn't phased by her fall. It was rather disappointing that it didn't get her down. No matter. Inside the lounge there were a few small groups. Most of which didn't interest her. Freak child has found a fellow, this academies standards are quite low. Over by Shannon was a hunk of a fellow, who seemed to be communicating by writing. Her conclusion was that he was really shy, or had an impairment, which instantly quashed any interest she might of had. That left one of African decent who was playing pool with Deborah. Vespera wen't over to their side of the room and inspected the pool cue rack. She placed her finger on the tip of the cracked one remembering her first time playing the game. Her plan was to hopefully be noticed and invited to join. In aims of achieving this she upped her pheromone generation. No doubt that Deborah would prefer not though, and her scent wasn't going to help. On the other hand this new comer would hopefully be more susceptible if her natural beauty wasn't enough.
Why are you casting magic missile? There's nothing to attack here.

I thought we wen't over this.
Poppy Flanagan

The moment Theresa responded, Poppy tired to get a hold of herself. Or a better hold of herself. There was no way she was going to be comfortable until this awful 'game' was over. Even now there was plenty of commotion going on across the playing field. Especially the bright flashes from those with energy powers. Since they weren't nearby all they did was make it difficult to get accustomed to the dark, not that it'd help her all that much. She might have been able to see her roommate though. "Theresa? That you?..." she choked. Her words were cut off by an unexpected embrace, one that she didn't fight in her current state. Afterwards it would surely be awkward, but in the moment it was calming. Then she felt something she was sure she wasn't supposed to feel. My neck, it's wet... What the heck was going on If it came from Theresa it was something she wasn't looking for from her, or anyone. That also begged the question of what exactly it was, and why.

"Wha-" Poppy pulled away for a moment then relaxed. The world around her lost it's edge, her frazzled nerves took a rest. Even time itself seemed to be moving slower, which would have been a bad thing moments ago. However she now found that she was enjoying herself. It felt nice. Theresa's warning about feeling funny didn't click with her right now. "I feel different." She shifted her weight and felt something crunch underneath her. Feeling around on the floor curiously there were many more. Had she a normal mentality she would have freaked out, but right now everything was so interesting to her. Poppy got up a little shakily, then she stomped her feet in place feeling the pops and cracks underfoot. "Hey, what's all this crunchy stuff?" she asked in slightly nasally tone. Then she clomped her feet again and giggled. Unbeknownst to her they were insects, and her hair was full of them too. "Is capture the flag over? Maybe if I find out what my power is I can play next time... Where's Adam?" She remembered they were going to see him after class. "They should turn the lights on already."

Karlie Davis

This was the moment Karlie had been waiting for, except she wasn't exactly sure what good grouping up was going to do for her. If she were to use her ability even a little bit she would blow past Deborah and this other girl. Speaking of which, there was something up with her. She could barely see her in the dark, yet she wanted to get friendly with her. Kristen's pheromones amplified her natural tendency, so she didn't question it herself. One moment she was half considering taking the lead, the next she was content to go at whatever pace she was going. "So what's the game plan? Is Kristen our secret weapon or something?" When it came to Deborah she was thinking the same as usual. We won't be getting the flag with her power... but she must know what she's doing. There was the possibility that this plan hinged on her ability too. That prospect made Karlie equally excited. What would be better yet though is if it somehow involved both of them. If I could grab the flag it would be awfully hard to stop me... Maybe rather than charging there she would on the return trip.

Vespera Spindel

As she felt the vibrations from footsteps getting closer Vespera's lip curled. Not only had the new comer accepted her invitation, the game of capture the flag was turning out to be a bigger spectacle than she had anticipated. Valjean was doing his thing, nothing to see there. The one eyed chick from earlier was getting it on with flashlight girl using bright red lasers. If their displays of light were used to show affection she'd say they were quite intimate. Chihuahua was running over to them. Nothing significance from her observations. Yet. She gnashed the inner workings of her mouth in an inhuman fashion, but ceased once her company arrived. "Forgive me for not making proper introductions, I wanted to make viewing accommodations as soon as possible. I'm Vespera." She gave a few moments for the name to sink in, and so she could briefly turn her full attention to the proceedings bellow. Something littered the floor, but she couldn't tell what. Two more bestial meta's. One looks to be aquatic, the other has a something growing out of it's back. Their threat levels would have to be accessed in person. Those who she knew well or weren't visibly displaying anything were paid little heed.

"That's good intuition. I have attended this academy for most my life. Certainly make's a good safe haven for those who can't fit in with society. Which is why I was surprised when Tetsuya left, even more so now that he's back." She wasn't going to ask directly, but she was very much interested in the reasoning behind his return. This morsel he'd brought with him made it all the intriguing to her. Of course she was going to treat her with respect, until there was reason to do otherwise. Many people automatically got off on the wrong foot with simply because of appearances. Considering that was not the case, in fact she deemed it quite bold her to have follow her into her makeshift lair. "And who might you be?" Vespera turned towards her as a courtesy, then she fixated her gaze once more on the playthings beneath.
Poppy Flanagan

This capture the flag match was nothing short of terrifying for Poppy. She could deal with the jokes about being used as a human shield, but as soon as the siren sounded everything went to hell. First Amanda charged off shouting, then loud offensive music started blaring. It wasn't like anything she had heard before, and she might have been okay with it if it wasn't so loud. That and it was cruder than she had ever wanted to be, even at her most rebellious. It hurt so she she stopped listening to the lyrics and protected her eardrums. If that wasn't enough the lights went out. Thankfully the music died down otherwise anyone near Poppy would have flanked by the shriek that followed. She panicked and tripped. Although she was padded up, hitting the ground felt anything but pleasant. In fact it hurt quite a bit. Enough to cause a tear trickle to run her face. Since she couldn't see where she was going if she got up, Poppy remained on the ground whimpering. Then she heard Theresa call out to her. "I-I'm, I'm over here." Her voice was heading in the wrong direction, and she heard her talk as if to somebody else. "Theresa!" Poppy cried out in a high pitched wail. "I don't want to do this anymore..." Whether this was a regular occurrence or not, it didn't matter. All she wanted was to get out of this place. Lights or no lights, it was all too much for her.

Karlie Davis

Who the heck is this metal guy? Karlie didn't have any reason to dislike him, other than that he was totally raining on her parade. How the heck am I going to drive if I can't see... damn everyone's going along with it. Right now she was a headstrong race car driver, but she wasn't stupid. If she couldn't see where she was going she'd run the risk of hurting herself. Damage reduction made it so she wouldn't kill herself, though that didn't mean slamming into the wall would be fun. Then of course there was the chance she'd run somebody down while they were unaware. That could end up being even worse. Reluctantly she stood by with the others who were waiting to rush. Which team she got put on was irrelevant. Valjean was back, and actually doing something useful for a change. Everyone else she could deal with, so far.

Vespera Spindel

This game of capture the flag was sure out to be quite the display, and an opportunity. More so than power training. Seemed just about everyone was participating, which meant it was to observe and take note of abilities and tactics. Vespera was thwarted in her attempts when the metal doctor she had become acquainted with earlier sapped the electricity from the arena, thus cutting the lighting. Normally this wouldn't have bothered her, but that was when she was in the arena. The viewing platform was on it's own grid, so her eyes didn't adjust whatsoever. Instead the pane became a refractive wall of black. All she could see were the teachers, and the woman who had showed up with Tetsuya. This wasn't going to do, and so Vespera decided to make a large display of her power than she normally did outside of combat. Only because most of the peopled she cared about seeing were inside the proving grounds themselves. The glow in her eyes flared slightly as midnight strands formed before her finger tips. They came together forming a black viewing booth up against the glass. Inside it was just as unlit as the arena, which with her darkvision would allow her to spectate once more. Before she entered Vespera beckoned absentmindedly in case anyone else was just dying to see what was going on. Granted that they had eyes sensitive enough for them benefit. Perhaps Ms.Raven, or if this newcomer cared for her fury companion. As verbal bait she deliberately mentioned his name in her invitation to her. "You wouldn't want to miss out on how Tetsuya is doing, would you?" With that the solidified shadows parted like a curtain as she walked through them. The question was whether she was the type that would be so quick to follow a stranger into a gloomy booth at either the offer of better viewing, or the fact that she once knew the pandaman.
No better time to come out of the shadows. Hello, and welcome.

Sounds like he would be an extra-sensory and possibly cerebral type.
