TIME SKIP

Devin walked into the hotel bar with refreshed soul. Both mind and body were thankfully showered, and his clothing changed from last night’s activities and the skip in his step mirrored this. He was always the guy that walked into a room smiling. Be it the morgue, a night club, or his apartment the one thing people counted on Devin for was a smile and some optimism. Looking around the floor plan he saw his friend James sitting by the bar talking to a group of women while ordering a drink.

Walking over to his law school friend he clapped his hands and initiated the time old tradition of being an embarrassing wing man. "O my god Jamie!?!" He called out "Jamie is that really you?" He lifted his hands up and gave his friend a massive bear hug. "Holy cow man what has it been? Four years?" From the silent screams to stop written across James face Devin could only see one direction ahead and that was deeper into the scene.

"O my gosh man let me get you a drink!" He then called the bartender over and gave their orders. "Haven't seen you since my little sister dumped you! Let me get this round." Putting his arm around James and looking over at the women he was talking to he began the dance of being a wing man "Best boyfriend my sister has ever had!" Just then the bartender came by to take his order. "Tears of Llorona for me... and Jamie here I believe his drink of choice was a Old Fashioned! Yes, just like his gentlemanly ways. Seriously I know the older brother is supposed to hate everyone who dates his little sister, but the romance and care that this man gave Erin won the whole family over!"
“James I thought you said we were going to meet your old law school friend…” one of the women asked with a quizzical tone.

Crap… Devin thought with a look over to James who clearly had made plans within their plans after he invited him out to a drink with his coworkers. He wasn't sweating but James clearly looked a little nervous.

“Yes, this is Devin. We went to Law School together.” He was speaking a little too fast as if in a panic. “He was doing this thing where he dresses me up as a really great boyfriend. Normally he is a little less…” He then leaned over and asked in Devin’s ear. “Are you still drunk?”

Collecting himself and smiling at the women Devin started things over. “Sorry about that. I just saw a friend and thought I would help. Name is Devin Coal.” Devin watched as the group began to attract other men in the bar. They seemed happed enough with the attention but seemed focused on James and Devin. He smiled as his orders were delivered by the bartender and the group made a toast. “To an enjoyable story to share at the water cooler tomorrow.” He added and then excused himself and James to a booth.

"Same badge same team people." Devin said loud enough to draw most peoples attention. He figured the only way to stop Joel was to put him center stage. The rumor mill was not being friendly to him or Harper, but when she wants to be left alone by him he figured he would run from the spotlight.

He watched Joel go quiet and kept the gas on while also throwing his partner a life line. "So the joggers didn't see much of anything really. They heard some gun shots and then saw a guy run across the street." Devin then looked down at his notes. "They didn't actually see the shooting though as I guess there was some sort of vehicle in the way..." Something clicked in his head and he started to look around.

"Hey Joel did you see a vehicle parked in front of the apartments when you got here?" Again this was loud enough that he had to answer and get further drawn into the work in front of them instead of the drama behind him.

"No when we got here the place was only full of spectators." He said with a slight clench of his body.

"Well then that means we have a missing piece of the puzzle I think. Lets get your badges over to traffic and see if you can't find any cameras posted around here that could have taken some video. I am sure we already have people doing that, but lets see if they can learn from you how to force an unwanted conversation?" Devin didn't give Joel the time to reply as he walked over to Jordan and motioned for Harper which gave her the exit she desperately needed.

"Honestly the only thing about that man of note is his ass." Jordan said to Devin. It made him smile. "You know when we first met you were mentioning my ass. Your eyes aren't wandering are they Jordan?

"I was talking about your head sweetie." Jordan said with a flirty laugh. She then turned to Harper. "So what did officer can't read a scene want? "
Thank you to everyone who has gotten their character sheets to me so far. Those that are due today you still have time to get it to me of course. I plan to review them tomorrow and get them accepted and posted in the character sheet before the end of day Saturday.

As far as the second part of the character sheet this will require some cooperation. Since all our characters spent the better part of 5 to 7 years together, they must have some sort of history! Each person will be required to draft a small summary of their characters thoughts and interactions with each other accepted character. They don't have to be super long but should at least tell us the following.

How well they know each other.
Are they Friends / Acquaintances / Enemies?
One short story of something they have done or been involved with together.
A basic idea of what they think of the person now.

Below is an example.

Character X and Character Y were sorted into the same house, so they knew each other from the get-go. Not friends or enemies they both had plenty of overlapping friends but were rarely if ever seen hanging out together without other people. The classes they shared had closer friends, so they didn't often partner together for class projects. One thing they do share is a love for their schools Quidditch team. Both would be the one taking their friends to watch practice and they never missed a game. The closest they ever got was in their 6th year when their house was in the Quidditch championship game and they were the two biggest leaders in getting the house ready to cheer their team on.

Since then their remaining time at Hogwarts would be spent with study heavy calendars they did try and go to the games together when they could. Since graduating their lives went in different direction; however, both are positive a nice conversation about Quidditch could be struck up if they saw each other again.

There is no immediate due date for this but once all the characters are completed and taken, I will start giving more specific expectations of a due date.

Jordan remained silent as Joel walked over and began to talk to Harper. She never liked the guy and when everything went to kingdom come she held nothing back as far as voicing her distaste in him. She always had a good sense for people even if they normally were dead. Still She knew what he wanted to talk about. Damage control was always on his mind these days.

"You sleep with a Bodega Bimbo and all of a sudden your worried how that reflects on you at work..." she muttered to herself. Jordan couldn't completely hear what they were talking about but she was sure it was yet another installment of 'I think you are over reacting and lets figure something out so i don't look like a bad guy even though I am totally the bad guy' play he had been trying to write with Harper for the past month.

-------

Joel nearly walked off after Harper tried to blow him off and saying she was busy. How many times when she first arrived at a scene did she come and talk to him before even go to the body? He knew she was just avoiding him which was why they weren't working things out. 'Why the hell can't she just listen to me!' he thought in his head.

"You didn't reply to any of my texts last night." Joel said harshly. "I thought we agreed we would talk last night and then you blew me off?"

Of course Joel was the only one who had agreed to this meeting he planned. Every time one of his calls went to voicemail or his texts go unread it annoyed him more and more. She was a detective and they had to have their work phone on them when on call and Harper was on call at least twice when he called and texted.

-------

"Normally I run the north south route on Central Park West" Devin said. The women told him what they saw, but quickly the conversation seemed to go in the direction of jogging. One had asked if he ran and he was happy to say he did. "Every morning except Sunday." he added when he could tell the next question was what days did he run.

The women continued to chat him up now seemingly completely over the trauma of what they might have seen. From what they had told Devin it turns out there wasn't as much of a scene made than Joel had reported. A few things made him wonder, but the women seemed pretty upfront and he wasn't worried they were lying.

"If you give us your card maybe we can call you if we remember something?" The attractive Indian woman said with a smile. This earned a smile back from Devin who would have given her a card no matter what, but could pick up the vibes and felt good.

"Would be my pleasure." he said handing the cards out. They all took them and then after more than one tucked it under their sports bra another beat cop showed them out.

Devin walked back towards the scene to find Jordan waving him down to come and save Harper. "I guess we don't need another body..." He muttered as he saw Harper and Joel speaking in hushed tones that were getting louder.

Devin Coal

Age: 26

Gender: Male

Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff

Professor of: Care for Magical Creatures

Biography:

Born on April 2nd Devin was a wonderful addition to an already busy household. An only child, his family had very firm roots in the muggle world with his mother being a middle school principal and his father working as a professor of Zoological Medicine at university. This meant it was impossible for Devin not to fall in love with animals of all kinds through his father. In his younger years everyone was oblivious to his magical awakening due to the fact that animals were often the only ones to witness them. One time he was walking their dog and a bigger dog came barking at them. Scared of the oncoming threat Devin started to run and hide only to watch as his families dog suddenly grew twice its size and scare off the attacking dog. By the time his parents were home the dog had returned to its normal size.

When his parents received his letter to Hogwarts it was a shock to them both, but mostly to his mother. Sure, she was learning that her son was a Wizard, but even more she was now learning that instead of attending her school there was an entirely new educational system in store for Devin. This was not immediately decided and after earning a very rare and short tour of the school Devin’s mother finally accepted that her son was not going to muggle school. Instead he would be attending Hogwarts. As well as a muggle summer school she selected. That was her one stipulation. The extra school happened right away and the summer before attending Hogwarts was one of the most accedemically brutal times in his scholastic career.

When Devin first arrived at the train for Hogwarts he was excited to see the magic world in full force. He was nervous of course, but soon enough he realized there were plenty of other ‘new to the magic world’ students and even more students wanting to make friends he quickly. As soon as a bat can turn Devin found himself a part of several social groups to pass the time in the halls and study sessions between class. In his early years he would often visit the Owlery and sketch the owls which he would send home to his father who loved them and kept every one. Over time he started to get pretty good and requests came in to make copies and send them to the owls owner.

Around his fourth year Devin began to invest more time and energy into some of his classes. It came as no surprise that Care of Magical Creatures earned the most attention. Soon enough he began to self study his way beyond the school curriculum and dove head first into self academics. To keep him busy the professor would more often have him assist with classes than actual be a student. With the help of the schools network as well as some friends of his he received several recommendations from Hogwarts which allowed him to start taking summer internships with different members of the magical creatures’ field. After getting the green light from his parents he began to spend part of every summer working with a research group around Europe. These opportunities helped Devin decide to commit to the field and graduate with an impressive resume.

With school behind him Devin was able to find work quickly in the magical world. He spent his time working with several different ministries drafting and providing subject matter expertise for a new sweeping agreement to better protect and assist with large sized magical migration creatures. The role meant traveling a lot which he enjoyed immensely. His travels allowed him to continue his own research and has given birth to a new hobby of his – Muggle Bird Watching. When he got the letter from the new Hogwarts Headmaster inviting him to take the position of professor of Care for Magical Creatures his initial thought was to politely decline; however, curiosity got the better of him and he decided to accept.

One week before school was to start he was more nervous then he was when he was about to start attending as a student. He wrote several letters to his old professor who happily shared his teaching guides and notes. Wanting to make a good impression Devin had begun to completely redraw the entire lesson plans for every year. As quickly as he could he drafted his mothers help who was excited to help her son in a world that she still knew little about. Obviously his father was happy to help as well and to prepare for the new role he ended up staying at his folks place for the rest of the summer.

Favorite Hogwarts Memory:

In his 3rd year Devin was given detention for skipping class with some friends. Their punishment was assisting the groundskeeper and Herbology professor with some basic gardening and gathering in the Forbidden Forest. During their visit to the Forbidden Forest the group happened upon a meadow where a small group of Unicorns were grazing.

Devin was unbearable for nearly a month after this as he talked about it nonstop. His obsession was part fascination over the beauty of the creatures and some parts the fact that his wands core was a unicorn hair. Needless to say detention had to get more creative due to the fact that for a week after Devin was doing nearly all he could to get the same punishment.

Bex 'the Hex' Bierman. An aptly monikered nickname for the Bierman girl. Given at first as an endearing code name from her elder siblings - as all siblings tease and pick on one another, it was bound to happen regardless. However, as Bex continued to grow and experience more that life had to offer, the nickname no longer became something she cherished.

Nor did anyone else for that matter.

The night of her 10th birthday was like any other. As her family settled in for the evening, everything seemed right. It wasn't until she was choked awake by the suffocating, smoke filled air around her that she began to panic. The house had caught fire in the early hours of the morning. Her parents and other siblings rushed outside to get away from the dangers of the smoke and fire and ash. Bex, however, was not so lucky. She and her twin, Dani, were trapped upstairs. Beams from the ceiling had collapsed under the weight and strain of the burning roof above it falling onto the staircase. Engulfing the area in green flames. That was something that Bex would never forget. The odd color of the flames that encased their home in the early hours. Such a strange color, she remembers thinking. It acted like regular fire, but there was something about it. Something different. Something that resonated with her. Something sinister and dark and foreboding.

Eventually, her brother, busted through the debris and flames to rescue her and her sister. He escaped with a few minor burns and scrapes, but Bex would forever be scarred across her back having been trapped beneath fallen roofing. The next few days after the incident were strange and flew by in a blur. The only thing keeping her sane was that they were all still together. Mother, father, Mickey, Molly and of course, her twin; Dani. Bex had wondered why the others seemed to ignore Dani after that incident. And anytime she brought up Dani they would cry, or tear up and furiously send Bex away. One time she mentioned that Dani wanted to plant some more gerber daisies - her favorite. Poliannah Bierman did not take kindly to that sentence and slapped her daughter hard across the face. Bex didn't understand, she was 11 at the time. Still learning what she can about the world.

The summer before attending Hogwarts for her first year, introduced new horrors to the Bierman family. The first would come as no surprise due to the shady under dealings that her parents were or were not involved with. Her mother was "caught in the crossfire" between a few Death Eaters and was killed. She was just "at the wrong place at the wrong time" or so the detectives claimed. But he knew better. It was a depressing start to the summer for everyone. The second would come to them in the form of realization that Bex suffered from Paranoid Schizophrenia.

It was during those many trips that she would accompany her father to the tattoo parlor that they owned and just sit and watch and learn the trade. One of those happy summer days, the light streaming in through the shoppe's front windows, the smell of ink and hand sanitizer and leather and sweat filled the walls around her. She sat with Dani at their father's station towards the middle of the shoppe, just doodling away on her own skin with a permanent marker. A Gerber daisy; similar to her father's. When Mickey swung by and asked what she was doing and why that flower she simply replied, "It's Dani's favorite. Right Dan?" Bex had even turned to face her twin, who was mimicking her own actions. Her brother seemed disheartened and worried. Here was his younger sister, sitting there drawing on her skin, talking to a ghost. A fading memory for everyone else but the twin who was no more. He had had his doubts for awhile now. At first humoring his sister - thinking it was just a coping strategy for her. It wasn't until Bex would turn 12 that they would come to find out, officially, that she suffers from Paranoid Schizophrenia. And that her Dani, was just a hallucination derived from the illness.

Even to this day, Bex can't believe, or rather doesn't want to believe that all her interactions with Dani have been hallucinations. That growing up with her twin all these years, has just been her and her alone. It's a sad thing, a twin growing up alone in the world. She was placed on some medication to help her cope with her hallucinations and episodes, however as a teen going through different changes without the help from a severe conditions, Bex didn't like what the meds were doing to her. She wasn't eating, all she did was sleep - which granted she needed - and the most important thing that bothered Bex was the fact that she never got to see her twin. So, without the knowledge of her family, she stopped taking the meds by the end of her 4th year. Everyone around her even noticed the drastic change. They assumed it was because she finally got acclimated to her medications and they continued on as usual.

Mickey was the only on to not follow in their parent's footsteps and join the Death Eaters. Molly jumped at the opportunity, being a wicked copy of their mother. A true golden child of the Bierman's. Hell, even Bex is torn between the ever prominent good vs evil. She would honestly rather sit back, relax, smoke some ganja and listen to some Zeppelin on vinyl while tattooing customers. Wouldn't that be the life?....

Rebekah Bierman | Slytherin
“A life of hardship and a mind of it too, there’s something about you that keeps you going, wake you up through the morning and pumps you through the day. Oh that’s it - your strength. Bex you’re tough as nails, you know those Hufflepuffs couldn’t withstand even a sliver of what you’ve been through, but we don’t need to tell you that, because you obviously already know. But you’ve got something we’ve never seen: the mind and physicality of an artist, an inspiration. Do not ever question, these two traits of your are keenly intertwined, and can only be sharpened, refined, shined in the best house for the hex, Slytherin”

Bex 'the Hex' would become a universal name within the Hogwarts walls after the first year of her arriving. Those students whose families were also Death Eaters would know her name well by familial reputations only. Nothing ever solid. Those who were friends, obviously. But the main reason she would become famously known is from any of the number of incidents that took place that first year.

The potions lab blowing up 2 months into the semester
The Mandrake screams of May 13th - a classic
Exploding puff pastries in the Great Hall
Numerous puking hexes going off throughout the corridors
And of course, let's not forget the time when, for whatever reason, the transfiguration professor, got stuck after showing off her own transfiguration that she couldn't revert back to her human state - at least for 6 hours

And what did these events, and so many others, have in common? Bex, the Hex, was present and accounted for in each scenario. There are some who state that it's just coincidence. But Bex knows better. Bad luck runs deep in her veins. It seems to follow her around like the plague. As of late, she's owned that moniker and tries to work on the crowd control aftermath anytime something seems to shift blame in her direction. She's too laid back to jump on anyone for stupid shit that happens. Though, with her lack of sleep and mind coming and going from 0 - 100; it's becoming increasingly difficult to stop her mouth before she spouts out insults and a prickly attitude follows......

Cultivating her own personal garden and learning anything else about Herbology she didn't acquire while in school. Bex absolutely loves gardening, she always has. She's always had a sort of green thumb when it came to the different flora she was exposed to.
Aside from gardening she finds work in her family's tattoo parlor - inking up customers both maj and no-maj alike.
Bex is still visited by her twin, though now as she's gotten older and more things take up her attention she has come to find her deceased twin's visits fewer and far between.
She is sporadically taking her meds - because she does want to see her sister and she still hates how she feels when ingesting the pills.
Bex spends as much time with Mickey as possible. However, since he is constantly on the move, traveling to different places, she never knows when exactly he's in town and when he will pick up and move again.
Bex has a great relationship with her father, despite his Death Eater ways. She honestly thinks he doesn't know that she knows, so she leaves it at that. They get along well, living not far from one another. She also spends a lot of her free time with him at the tattoo parlor so, they get a lot of father / daughter time
She has recently been given the opportunity to teach her favorite subject at her alma mater - so this should be interesting~

Noah Edward Cooper

Age: 27

Gender: Male

Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff

Professor of: Transfiguration

Biography:
Pre-Hogwarts
Born on Tuesday 18th August 1992, Noah had a stable childhood despite growing up during the Second Wizarding War. His parents, Neil and Jane Cooper both worked together for the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes at the British Ministry of Magic, the former a member of the Invisibility Task Force, the latter an Obliviator. Frequently working together around the country, the couple enjoyed extensive travel before settling down in South London to start a family.
Family life with baby Noah was bliss until the events of June 1996 when the couple, newly pregnant, realized that their children were in danger through their proximity to the Ministry. Now both highly revered in their respective departments, the couple successfully applied for sabbaticals at the Federal Bureau of Covert Vigilance and No-Maj Obliviation at the MACUSA headquarters in New York. During the Second Wizarding War, the couple repeatedly returned to the UK in order to support the Ministry, comforted in the knowledge that their children were safe in the US.
The couple returned to their Balham home in 1999 and (using their American experience) assisted in the restructuring of their departments during Kingsley Shacklebolt’s term in office. Noah continued to learn about the magical world from his parents until he received his Hogwarts letter in early August 2003.

Hogwarts
2003-04 - Sorted into Hufflepuff, Noah remained a bookish child but intensely hardworking, discovering a natural aptitude for transfiguration, an interest in DADA, a love for Herbology and a particular fear of flying.

2004-05 - His second year continued in the same vein as the first, with Noah cementing some strong friendships, demolishing any extended reading list and refusing to try out for Quidditch despite his father’s urging.

2005-06 - Forbidden from taking Divination by his parents, Noah elected to study Arithmancy, Care of Magical Creatures and Muggle Studies in his third year. He also developed a keen interest in Animagi.

2007-07 - His studies continued with him excelling at switching spells and spending Christmas that year in New York.

2007-08 - His uncovered skill at learning vanishing spells in his fifth year would eventually lead to his future career, but at the time warranted his promotion to Hufflepuff prefect.

He swiftly dropped Advanced Arithmancy Studies and was upset that not enough of his peers were sufficiently interested to run an Alchemy course. He successfully gained his apparition licence.

2009-10 - Studying hard for his N.E.W.T.s meant that Noah didn’t really make the most of the social side of his final year, with all his spare time taken up with his study in the library, prefect duties and practical work in the greenhouses.

Post-Hogwarts
2010-12
After graduation, his mother quickly secured him a clerical position in the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad, Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes, where he remained for a couple of years with only small promotions but learning the intricacies of the Ministry’s inner workings. His well-honed ability for Untransfigurations and Vanishings was only truly noticed after he dealt with a particularly strong Pullus jinx accidentally cast in a corridor, swiftly transforming all the poultry back into their original objects and sweeping the hallway clear of droppings and downy feathers in seconds. His school record was quickly pulled and the connection to his parents was made. The next day they were intensely proud as their son was swiftly promoted onto the squad proper.

2012-16
Noah spent the next few years travelling the UK, and Europe when needed, reversing accidental magic, specializing in Untransfigurations. In 2014, when his sister Ellen graduated Hogwarts to become a herbologist, Noah was asked to start writing a more in-depth field guide for Untransfigurations in the field, with the purpose of sharing knowledge amongst wizarding authorities with increasing muggle populations.

2016-18
His research and practice lead to a trip of Europe and then a secondment to MACUSA’s Federal Bureau of Covert Vigilance and No-Maj Obliviation, in the footsteps of his parents.

2019
The Calamity occurring led the Ministry to recall Noah from the USA to help with the cover-up of the ever-increasing number of Foundables and Confoundables, and to be an information liaison with MACUSA regarding Untransfigurating Confoundables. His systems and processes were all set up and in place when he received his second letter summoning him to Hogwarts. He was initially wary, not prepared to give up his career. But realizing it was an opportunity that no one would dare pass up he has accepted, glad to still be able to continue his writing and research.

Favorite Hogwarts Memory:
“Oh gosh. Erm… Oh wait I’ve got it. Definitely Christmas of my sixth year. Mom and Dad were in New York visiting friends and took Ellen, but I wanted to stay at Hogwarts because I’d gone with them the year before. It turned out that a few of the other prefects were staying as well so… We got lots of booze in from Hogsmede and had a huge pool party in the prefects’ bathroom, inviting loads of our mates. The one and only time I broke the school rules intentionally. I’d had a couple of late library books. And also my first real kiss. I wonder if Ellis Ackroyd remembers that or whether he was too drunk…?”[/INDENT]

‘Engaged yea but no date was set or even seemed discussed.’ Devin thought as he watched the two women walk away leaving him with jolly Joel. Forcing himself to look away from Harper and the goofy shoes he brought himself back to the conversation. “So, did anyone get a good look at our shooter?”

Joel was even more out of it than Devin. He was still looking and seemingly shooting daggers at Harper when the question was asked. Without looking back at Devin, he kept the minuscule amount of conversation going. “Like I said they think they saw the person run into central park.”

“Think they saw?” Devin put his notebook away. Anytime he was told someone said they think they saw he knew it was likely BS. Most of the time the think they saw translates to I think they said because I can’t remember. It meant Devin was going to have to repeat the interviews Joel was too distracted to do correctly.

As he passively thanked Joel for his time and where the people who witnessed the murder were standing, he saw a small collection of women seemingly out for a jog. God Bless Yoga Pants he thought as he walked over to them and began to interview them. "Hello Ladies my name is Detective Coal. I am so sorry your morning jog was interrupted, but could you answer some of my questions?" He flashed a classic all american smile that earned some friendly replies.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Jordan bent down and looked at the body. It was weird that there wasn’t that much blood. Three shots in the chest usually makes a body bleed. Especially since she could tell there was exit wounds on the back. What is more there didn’t seem to be that much blood anywhere else.

“The lack of blood is…. Odd.” She said finally. "The shots were the kill points, but I won’t know more till a full autopsy. As for where he was shot, I can’t see this being an easy man to move. Must be at least six feet tall and likely never passed on a free meal.” Jordan stood back up and watched Harper start to case the space around the scene.

“Welp my job is done till we get him on the slab. So now can we talk about more important things?” her question was very much rhetorical as she barely paused to listen to any sort of reply. “Am I supposed to plan this drinks plan tonight and not show up or are you going to chick out and not show up unless I do?”
In Blue Shield 5 yrs ago Forum: 1x1 Roleplay
Devin let out an audible moan at the fact that he had been roped into the plan for drinks tonight. His head was in no mood to comply with this expectation, but he also knew there wasn't an alternate option. The team, by which he meant Harper, needed him so he would show up even if he had to order a virgin rum and coke to save his liver.

Devin chuckled at Harper's seemingly comforting play. Maybe she knows I'm not fit to go out tonight was what he thought, but then the kiss made it very clear this was likely a stage. O god I am stuck in the middle of this break up somehow.

"Wait you own a wedding dress already?" Both him and Jordan said somewhat surprised. Only Devin said it way louder and was immediately chastised by Jordan who jabbed him in the rib with an elbow.

Like clock work within a few minutes the two were back at it and making fun of his dating patterns. "The only one sent to the moon are my dance partners." Devin said in response. "Besides Mia was running a little to fast for me. I mean who invites someone to their parents house after 4 months of dating?" Devin said this in a tone that might have convinced some but didn't convince his current audience. Still it was a mostly rhetorical question. Looking down the team saw the crime scene in full view now.

Jordan pulled the sheet off the body and the course of cell phone cameras taking pictures began as the beat cops kept people away from the crime scene tape. One or two were familiar faces as journalists or crime scene fans. The doorman was on his back with three bullet holes in his chest. The blood was minimal as it was likely mostly trapped under his body around the exit wounds. He was in uniform so they knew he was the one on duty. They hadn't gotten notes yet so Devin had to do something he wasn't happy with. "Joel!"

Harper's ex walked over obviously reluctant. "Yes Detective?" he asked obviously not looking at Harper and only barely looking at Devin.

"Radio said you were first on the scene give me the summary?" Devin said in a very matter of fact tone.

"Just like I radioed in as well Detective." Joel said with a pretty cold voice. "Witnesses say the doorman was working the door. Then suddenly a man ran up to him shot him three or four times in the chest and then ran into the park. By the time they called it in and we got on the scene he was long gone."
