Current I'll tell you what's wrong with society. No one drinks blood from the skulls of their enemies anymore.

History Fact: Caterina Sforza was a complete badass, who whilst under siege made a point of bombarding the houses of her enemies from the walls of her castle.

State-sponsored Piracy? Should be good fun! :P

How far do your corsairs go @Ophidian?

Not sure, presently, they're probably pretty thick along the south however. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears.
Work continues!

I've decided to really run with the Ottoman theme-been reading up on the pirates of Barbary. Make sense of a decayed empire to rely more on corsairs then it's own navy-and it gives me some leeway for the main plot I'm planning.

Anyone here familiar with Barbary?
@Verdaux O.o E-everyone?

....It'd take some fairly extensive surgery to get Kastrati remotely interested.
@Ophidian

BOY HAVE I GOT A TREAT FOR YOU

That is ironically why I went this route.

MY BROTHER.
Brief blurb on the basics of the faction (provided in quote form). To make sure it meshes. Working name, currently, is the Siyah Suzerainty.

"Hmmph. A true tribute to the Suzerainty of old, whose weaknesses sunk as deep as it's great walls rose high. Know that the curse of the Suzerainty lingers in hearts of their younger kin...."March for the Age of the Serpent," said the Suzerainty to it's warriors...as they walked to lonely deaths in far-off lands...."

"We could rule the world. The old Suzerains did. They took the Army of the Black Serpent to the farthest reaches-there was nothing left to conquer! The world was ours.

....But my forefathers are dead. The Suzerain is shriveled and broken...and so now we live in evil days. Our Beys turn on each other, instead of their proper enemies. Our treasuries are barren, our resources wasted, our armies demoralized and our civil services sterile.

My fathers must weep, if the dead are capable of it. If not, I shall weep for them. But...I shall also hope. What was, may well be again. Time still marches. The great god Yig, the Snakefather, still watches over us. Protects us.

And...perhaps...perhaps now the Snakefather wishes for his children to be great again. Perhaps a new Suzerain will take up the sword, the gun and the bow.

....Perhaps."

Ended up drawing vestigial empire elements. The Ottomans turned into a major source of inspiration.
@Ophidian - did you want that whole area, or very specifically just the tiny island by #22?

@Willy Vereb I'll wait to add Ophie, but I'll get to work on distributing that region.

The whole area would be nice, but if someone else is interested, we can work out a division. Don't want to keep anyone else out of the game!
<Snipped quote by Ophidian>I think it's free.
Isotope once claimed it but then he decided against it. Aside from that I don't remember anyone else taking it.
It seems to be close to the desert/savannah line so the environment is like that. You have freedom to invent the rest.

Excellent.

I'll get a write up done.

I'll be going for a sort of Congoese-India-Arabian theme I think. Because throwing cultures together at random always works.

Glad to hear you're still open then!

That little...island by #22, would that happen to be open? And what is it like? Geography informs alot about a nation after all.
You still accepting applications? Happened to catch my eye, and I've been sitting on a possible nation of Ssssssssnake people for awhile now....
There. A stream of consciousness look into Kastrati's inner workings.

I'm not paying for the therapy bills.
