I posted. I'm definitely going to post more regularly from now on. I won't lie - I did get a little confused between yesterday and today as to whether I missed any posts that interacted with me, but I'm pretty sure I'm caught up now, so I'm fine. :)
~Havoc Matsuda~

Havoc glanced left when one of the other two youngsters - the male specifically - invited him to join them. The other boy seemed very enthused about the whole process and apparently had some familiarity with how this was all supposed to work. Havoc couldn't even begin to imagine how on earth he would be able to catch pokemon while on the deck of a ferry. He he shrugged passively and silently, indicating an "eh, sure" response even if mute. Before he could introduce himself or even signal a hello to the girl the trio was set upon by a man propositioning stickers.

The other boy took one first, but seemed about as hesitant and suspicious of the man as Havoc was feeling. THe man hadn't done anything wrong. In fact, Havoc didn't get a signal the man was dangerous. He genuinely just thought the sticker looked tacky and corny but he felt guilty about passing it up because it was for a good cause. Havoc reluctantly opened up a hand to receive a sticker and reached around his waist for his pokeball. He looked at the sticker one last time pensively before he pasted the sticker onto the pokeball. His lips maligned into a brood at the sight of the sticker now on the ball. He put the ball away. The other boy spoke about wanting to catch pokemon. Havoc didn't really care too much about it but it would be good to see how something like that even works.

"I'll go with you." replied with a nonplussed nod. Besides, it presented a good opportunity to walk away from the creepy old man and the lab assistant.

After hearing Holly's detailed, monotonous rhetoric Havoc found himself with no questions to ask. The information Holly gave was already enough surprises for him. Frankly, Havoc enrolled in the trainer program simply as a means of acquiring his first pokemon. While she spoke he reached in and clutched the pokeball that materialised from the terminal. He glanced left and right at the other trainers receiving their pokemon and sending them out while on deck. He looked at the ball intensely but ultimately decided against doing the same and stowed the ball on his belt buckle. He could do all of that away from prying eyes. He was in no rush. Not the kind they were anyway.

Havoc shook his head to Holly and received the pokedex. He began to twiddle it in his hands as he contemplated to concerns that he needed addressing. It seemed that there was in fact a consequence and condition to receiving the pokemon and it gave him a requirement towards this Professor Palm. He had intentions of being a free-roaming vigilante, but to act on the Professor's payroll would automatically make him a sanctions sellsword instead.

...But maybe that wasn't a bad thing. While Vuduin and Arren conversed in front of him, Havoc reflected on his opportunity. If he told his parents he was going to become a pokemon trainer, it would throw the scent off his vigilante ambitions. He could still do that much.

As soon as Havoc's feet ascended on to the gangplank his spirits began to lift with him, as if he was literally rising above all his cares in that very moment. It made him glance backwards at the upper end of the gangplank to look down at the ground. In the midst of boarding crowd he saw a variety of young adventurers, including a boy and girl near enough behind him in conversation. They all had a mix of trembling and excitement, the kind one exhibits on a rollercoaster just before the first drop whereas Havoc was all out of excitement. His 'drop' was his escape on foot to the ship. All he had in his heart was relief.

“Hello there! Pleased to meet you. My name is Holly. I’m Professor Palm’s main research assistant.”

For such an exotic look, Holly spoke more monotonously than you’d expect.

“Professor Palm is looking forward to meet all beginning trainers over a complimentary dinner this evening, if you’d be so kind to accept.”
She smiled, but it almost seemed conceited, or forced. Or maybe she just wasn’t quite sure how to smile.

“In the meantime, please make your way to the Terminal Lab in the lower deck. Spaces have been accommodated for all passengers.”

Havoc's eyes trailed Holly as she left, noting that she gave near enough the same speech to each succession of adventurers in turn the moment they boarded the ship. Havoc followed those in front of him. Was he a trainer? Technically. That's about as much as he could honestly lay claim to. It's not as if he had any deep desire to be a world champion - he didn't need to go that far, but there were many trainers in these days who raised and groomed their pokemon for all manners of dreams and goals. It was a lot easier to understand rearing and capturing pokemon through these officials means than it was figuring it out in the wild. Afterall, they gave trainers the first pokemon for free.

Following her directions and some signage, you were able to find your bearings and navigate toward the aforementioned Terminal Lab. It was surprisingly clean for being part of an aquatic vessel. Though, it was apparent that the salt had began to take over as it did all things. A white grime was encrusted on the sides of several terminals. They were lined in rows, like slot machines in a casino. Each one had a black, rotating stool to sit in, with just a few people in line for each one.

As he waite for his terminal line to open up, Havoc glanced at the other lines, noting the changes in expression for those at the front. Some jumped with joy when they received their pokemon. Others hung their heads in despair. It caused caused to raise an eyebrow, confused at how this could be a disappointing moment. Weren't all pokemon good? Some people even called for a assistance to settle their disputes with the machines, pointing to kids that used the terminal before them. He saw two other kids that looked like brothers scrambling over a single pokeball before being separated. Another child refused to move from his stool, shouting that he "doesn't want a magikarp" to the assistant at the terminal. Eventually, the line in front of Havoc fell away and it was just him and the terminal.

[REGISTER] Read on the screen, just above a thumb print. There was no turning back from here. Did you accept?
[@Whimsely]

Havoc paused, hesitantly. His thumbprint and full name would put him right back on the grid, at least for the time being. He wasn't sure what might happen if he registered. At the very least, he might stay safe the rest of the journey by sea. He inhaled deeply and press accept.

Blue lines traversed the screen. In patterns, sporadically, dashing in their inconsistency. The cogs in the terminal whirred as the lasers performed their show, before they came to form words on the screen.

[IS THIS CORRECT?]

CALCULATING...

First, a hex grid of wireframe. Black in the inside, green as the structure, a Poké Ball formed in a pocket below the screen, held by a sort of basic upholder apparatus. A green laser, in the fashion of a 3D printer, began to bring the Pokéball to life. Layer by layer, the second dimension gained another perspective. First green, then a white bottom, a black, middle rim, a white button on the front, and finally the cherry ted top. The button glowed a dark pink and hummed a synthetic tune before fading.

YOUR POKÉMON IS... HOUNDOUR

[WILL YOU GIVE HOUNDOUR A NAME?]

The screen asked you.

Havoc scratched his chin, looking at the image of this pokemon "Houndour". He would forget that very quickly, but the image showed a stoic, fierce looking young pup with a skull covering its scalp. It seemed valiant and serious. Havoc's hand reached for the terminal and began to press letters.

[R-O-O-K-ENTER] - A Rook. That's what the image reminded Havoc of; not the species of bird obviously, but of a unit that would stand rank&file at the side of the king - the chess piece.
@BlueSky44@Xan the G Yall want to socialize or get straight to getting our Pokemans :?

@Eklispe - Yeah I'm fine for interacting. I would skip me thought as initially, Havoc won't pay attention to either of you, but if you interact, it will pull him away from just focusing on getting on the ship and respond. Plus, I don't we'll be getting our start pokemon on the ship anyway.
~Havoc Matsuda~

Havoc was tense. There was no way around. Not now. He had been on the road travelling by foot since early three mornings ago when he left his family home to pursue his life dream. He had anxiety about not knowing where when and if his parents started looking for him. Each step he took, each break pause or rest he made could be his last with his parents or anyone that might be helping them being just round the corner to drag him home - or to juvie. Havoc was sitting in a tree with his back against the bark dangling his legs with side of his chosen branch. Unable to sleep, unable to think, unable to relax in any meaningful way, his left had twiddle the pokédollars he scraped together to make his delinquent trip wondering, hoping that he had enough to cover his ticket away from the port city. The other hand rested neatly atop his knee but twitched without cease, as did his eyebrow furrow and quiver incessantly. Havoc locked on to each sound as they hit his ears. The lapping of the waves, the squawks of the wingulls coming in land for the day. Even as the cruise ship docked, Havoc didn't move a muscle until the foreman call for the passengers to depart. Havoc opened his eyes, exhaling deeply.

Finally, the call was made for boarding. Those on the boardwalk and on the shore began to part from their families lining up to dock and leave. Havoc slowly put his right hand clasped on his right knee and lifted himself to his feet. He was currently dressed in three-quarter shorts, a t-shirt and a cloak with his single-sling backpack hung diagonally over his left shoulder. Inside lay his alter-ego - at least the costume thereof. He took a step forward, off the branch and down towards the grounds below, ending in a roll to take away some of the momentum.

As Havoc found his place in line he leaned out one last time, looking over his shoulder and the mainland he was leaving behind and the path he had hitchhiked to get right here. THis would be the last time he would be able to look over his shoulder and still make out familiar landmark. After this, all he'd be able to see was the blue of the ocean.

Just so I'm clear - the third group have Gleampier as their hometown and are boarding the SS Expedition to Leave the port town, not disembark at the port having just arrived there?

@Xan the G @Eklispe @BlueSky44

Go ahead and pop all of your sheets into the Characters tab! I will note that two of you have a Poochyena. This is fine, but if you wish to switch to another, non-rare Pokémon, that's fine too. At the moment, I'm not going to ask for a co-GM, but if I become too overwhelmed I will consider it. I'd rather keep the story and mechanics contained to one individual, as that's the easiest way to do it.

@WhimsleyI'll switch to houndour
@Xan the G @Eklispe @BlueSky44

There is interest there for a third group to set out from Gleampier Port, but I need confirmation from all three of you in order for this to happen. Is this what y'all want?

Also,

@sMoKe

Were you going to finish that application?

I'm interested. I finished my profile either way.
