@Xan the G Let me rephrase. They know it's 3v3, but they fight it as three 1 on 1s because they are inexperienced in battling.

Well that creates an interesting proposition. My character knows next to nothing about pokemon battles specifically, but he has experience and training in combat, so ideas like guerilla tactics, pyrrhic victory and team play are all natural to him. Keeping the Poliwag busy while the others win their battles will be common sense to Havoc.
@Xan the G It is a 3v3 situation, but beginner trainers like the Sailors don't quite realize that.

Even though they were the ones who suggested it XD. I'll edit my post in about 1 hour to take out the water sport part.

~Havoc Matsuda~

Seeing the blue, rotund tadpole pokemon appear in front of him, Havoc unconscious puffed out his chest a little more than before. This pokemon had looked the least intimidating of all the ones he had witnessed so far. This had to be a good sign...right? Havoc decided to use the pokedex that Holly gave him. He reached into his backpack with his open hand, pulled out the Dex and pointed it at the dancing, energetic tadpole and flipped it open. He pressed the 'scan' button and almost instantly the pokedex began to whir before pinging. A picture of the tadpole appeared on the screen.

"POLIWAG - POLIWAG HAS A VERY THIN SKIN. IT IS POSSIBLE TO SEE THE POKÉMON'S SPIRAL INNARDS RIGHT THROUGH THE SKIN. DESPITE ITS THINNESS, HOWEVER, THE SKIN IS ALSO VERY FLEXIBLE. EVEN SHARP FANGS BOUNCE RIGHT OFF IT. THE DIRECTION OF THE SPIRAL ON THE BELLY DIFFERS BY AREA. IT IS MORE ADEPT AT SWIMMING THAN WALKING." Havoc narrowed his gaze from a laxed glance to an intense glare. <It can't even walk properly?> mused Havoc, thinking he hit the jackpot. He stopped juggling his pokeball in left hand and arced his left arm about his face, temporarily masking his lower face.

"Rook - Kakatte koi!" commanded Havoc as he threw his pokeball at the ground. While in his head he expected his houndour to appear to him at the ready, battle-born and focused, in actuality, the first thing Rook did was yawn, then shake its body as if waking from a nap and then proceed to hop back and forth simply taking in his surroundings. Havoc had no response at first for how happy-go-lucky his pokemon was behaving, but he soon came to his sense. "Rook!" he called, trying to snap his pokemon's attention. Rook heard the call and instantly turned to Havoc before immediately running to his training, tongue lapping. He leaned up against Havoc's leg with a big smile and excitement. Havoc sniggered instinctively, finding Rook humourous in how oblivious he was to the situation. He stooped down to pat Rook on the head as water drizzled into Havoc's clothes and Rook's fur. Rook simply shook off the excess before going back to enjoying his trainer's hand nuzzle his chin. Havoc looked straight at his houndour to not give away to his challenger that he was mulling over what that technique was and why he shushed his friend. Havoc was a ninja apprentice. Subterfuge were elements of battle he was well versed in. Even if he didn't know what the trap was, at least now he knew he was being set up. Although, he realised that the dampness spread to more than just the area occupied by Rook and the Poliwag. All six pokemon were caught in the area. Havoc remembered the initial stipulation and ultimately understood what his goal should be.

"We'll catch up later. Right now we got a challenge. I say we give'em hell," spoke Havoc.

"Roof!" replied Rook. Havoc was amused at Rook's acceptance. He didn't seem to quite get it but was interested to do it nonetheless, much like Havoc. Havoc put out a fist towards Rook with a nod.

"Okay champ. Let's make each other look good," Havoc wagered. Rook headbutted Havoc's hand gently to imitate a fist bump. With his pokedex in hand, Rook scrolled through to the entry it had specifically on his own Houndour to see what it was capable of. "...Ember...?" spoke Havoc. He was more talking to himself but he was in range of Rook's hearing. Rook took in a large, brief breath and expelled a fireball from his mouth up into the air. It fizzled at a short way. Havoc put two-and-two together. "Oh - [i]Gōkakyū no Jutsu[i] - Got it. Rook! Go for an ember, and don't hold back!" commanded Havoc, to which Rook looked to the poliwag that Havoc was pointing at and heaved in the biggest breath that he could before spewing out an ember.

Here's to not getting two-shotted by a Magikarp!

XD I don't know about a magikarp, but I'm hella-fraid of this poliwag. Though I think the loss will do a lot of character building for Havoc and his houndour.
@WhimsleyIs the Gleampier situation 3 1v1 battles or a singular 3v3? I don't mind which I just thought it was a 3v3 situation at first.

Havoc took his place at the rear of the group when they initially set off once again to the upper deck. In quite the ironic turn of events, Havoc went from wanting to play an active role in events and being sidelined by the arrival of the guy with the fiery dog pokemon to now simply wanting to hang back and being called to the centre stage for a battle. At first, he just watched from a few steps back as Vuduin was set upon by the three frat-stereotypes. Once the challenge was made to include all six present parties, Havoc had no intention of letting the side down.

Havoc walked around from behind Vuduin and Arren to stand on Vuduin's open side as Arren agreed to participate. Havoc reached at his side, withdrawing his pokeball with a similar "P" insignia and began tossing it up and down in one hand.

"I'm game." he added with a soft, acute smile appearing on his face. He had never actively watch a pokemon battle before, nevermind participated in it, but he imagined after seeing what the fiery dog of the other guy could do that maybe his own flaming hound might be similarly effective, and he was quite honestly excited to find out.

For once Havoc actually felt in the know. It was when the archetypical figure of a scallywagging sea-venturer came onto the scene, giving orders to Holly and praise to the for youth including Havoc. It was Palm. He figured as much because it was the face on the flyer Havoc read which told him about the pokemon giveaway aboard the SS Expedition. It would make sense that he had the image of a sea captain. Knowing who he was only lifted Havoc's self impression so much. Being invited to attend a meal with Professor Palm by the leering eye made the invitation so ominous that Havoc couldn't tell if he was being praised or reprimanded. He looked through everyone else's answers - he would have to keep being passive until he could get on his own feet, figuratively in terms of being a pokemon trainer, and literally as in reaching dry land.

When the mysterious hero accepted first in amongst the blush of applause from the onlookers Havoc tilted back and forth from heel to heel.

"Yeah, sure." he responded briefly.

The moment felt like it was getting a little awkward for him. He looked around at all of the assistants, the grown ups, the officials who effectively ran away when they were set upon by the crook.

It was for moments like these that he set out to be a vigilante in the first place.

@Xan the G Um. The problem sort of already has been dealt with. ^-^'

I edits my post to reflect everything else. My mistake. I thought it was going to be a longer thing.
[Site crashed on me and made a double post]
“Arbok, grab the pokemon and their pokeballs! You damn kids should listen better to your elders!”

Havoc turn back at the ominous threat only to be faced with the expanded hood of a purple snake-like pokemon. Being at the back of the group, Havoc was the first in line to "meet" the arbok. His ninja training kicked in and he dive-rolled to evade the pounce of the Arbok. After safely rolling to the side and resting in a crouch, he waited to see what would happen next. As he watch, his sense of balance perked up.
He felt light. Havoc glanced down at his waist to see that his pokeball had gone. What's more the Arbok had a pokeball wrapped in it's tail. Havoc growled under his breath realising he had been duped. Granted, he had just been swindled out at sea in front of a bunch of witnesses under government supervision. A rational thinking mind would have appreciated that this old man would not get away with this for all too long, but Havoc's pride took the offence personally. All Havoc could think about was how he specifically would get back his pokemon.

As he stood to his feet and took his first step towards the Arbok, willing to challenge it unarmed if need be, a voice echoed from across the hall:

“Use ember on his tail, and stop the trainer.”

Before he knew it, Havoc was sidelined by the arrival of another trainer. His partner was nothing more than a small dog with flames spewing from its fur, but it moved in a way that deftly handled the larger snake pokemon. Havoc was surprised that things such as weight, size and other physical characteristics didn't seem to limit the potential and power of pokemon. His astonishment went up another level when the mystery hero made a jump kick at the assailant.

<...He's pretty good at this,> thought Havoc to himself, on the subject of heroism. He was flashy at the very least, and managed to get the job done, all while Havoc failed to act and even lost his pokemon in the midst of it all.

“Are you all okay?”

His call drew Havoc's attention, but Havoc thoughtfully declined to respond right away. Instead, Havoc walked towards the thief, pausing as he reached his pokeball about a foot from his unconscious body. Havoc stooped down and retrieved his pokeball, stroking it with his thumb. He caught an edge of the sticker and peeled it off slowly before flicking it into the air above the thief. He watched it flutter down and he exhaled long and pensively. He turned to walk back to the others. He held up his pokeball and nodded gracefully to the new guy as a means of thanks for his help.
