Velorio's Downfall-Looking for Players!

Vanessa was greeted by a scythe-wielding female member of the Rebels, a scythe far too huge and heavy for her own good. Another greeting followed soon after, in the form of a swipe to the legs. Thankfully, the Rebel's speech gave Vanessa enough time to brace herself for possible attacks and she barely managed to sidestep away from the scythe. She parried the following attack and slashed her sword in a horizontal motion, sending a wave of fire forward, scorching a few Rebels in the face. Unfortunately, the one with the scythe managed to dodge her attack by leaping backwards, but Vanessa could tell that she was visibly exhausted by merely swinging her scythe.

"Stand down now little girl, we can end this quick, one way or another." said Vanessa in a commanding tone towards the girl. She would much rather spare a young life, but if she were to force her hand, Vanessa would make certain that her next strike be precise.

Vanessa landed on one of the soldiers elegantly, as if her red cape was the wings of an angel. "Hmph, if it was truly ladies first I would've been in your shoes." Vanessa said in jest as she approached the door. She had no interest in political or governing positions, she would much rather get her hands hot and dirty but not through sipping tea. Speaking of which, she cast a spell and flames started to spread from her sword-wielding hand onto her sword, causing it to glow white hot. "Alright men, on my mark.", not a moment after she ended her sentence, Vanessa kicked down the door and took a step forward brandishing her sword, ready to strike anyone in her way.

Of course I wouldn't straight out kill you, but in William's shoes he's getting a once in a lifetime offer and all he gotta do is to put down a thief, to him it's a pretty good deal. But then of course... you're a thief, perhaps you could strike a deal with him instead

Woops I think you got me wrong. In my previous IC post I mentioned that I managed to memorise one or two simple spells from the books, so I was wondering if you could let me know (IC or otherwise) what spells they were.

My Character

Name: Vanessa Schulz

Age: 32

Gender: Female

Appearance:

Backstory: Vanessa was born in the poor districts of Velorio which were plagued by endless protests of the Rebels. Her life was in constant instability as fights can break out anytime between members of the Parliament and the Rebels. At a young age she dabbled in minor arcane arts in order to protect herself and her parents and found that she was quite proficient in fire-based magic.

Unfortunately during her older teenage years, a huge fight broke out and a gang of Rebels decided to hide out in Vanessa's home, her parents refused them entry and were killed without a second thought. In a fit of rage, Vanessa cast a fire spell which burned the whole gang into crisp. By the time the Enforcers had arrived, instead of asking for help, she demanded she be recruited so she could prevent the Rebels from causing any more harm. To her, they were nothing more than glorified bandits.

During training and countless battles, she proved that she was a capable swordswoman and with her skills in fire magic, gave her an edge in combat. She rose through the ranks quickly and became a captain of the Enforcers by the age of 24. Nearly a decade later, rumors of a war has caught her ear, with the same fiery determination as she had before, she hopes to end the Rebels once and for all.

Weapons: A meteorite sword, given to her as a gift for achieving the rank of captain and fire-based spells (fireball, fire wave, etc.)

Personality: Vanessa tries to stay calm in most situations but can be hotheaded when provoked. She usually avoids fighting if possible and prefers resorting to a mutual agreement, but if a fight is inevitable, she will end it quick and clean. She is also a good strategist, which is one of the reasons why she got the rank of captain so quickly.

Other Info: Vanessa is an expert in close to medium combat. Her meteorite sword is able to conduct her fire spells with ease, by casting a spell on her sword which coats the sword in flame, she is able to project a short wave of fire by slashing her sword.

LETS GO, but first, mind if I ask for some details? Just wanted to know whether magic exists in this world, and are fights commonly fought with muskets/flintlocks or melee weapons like swords?

P.S. Mind letting me know which spells I memorised? Seems more random if I'm not the one choosing.
