Code Veronica is still one of my favorites of the classic RE games. I'm less critical on the "action era" of Resident Evil, but I definitely see the issues and I actually prefer them to Capcom ripping off Amnesia and similar games when they made 8.
Agreed, Alyson Court is actually a really cool person too. I didn't get a chance to interview her, though I did sit in on the interview with D.C Douglas. A lot of people disliked Code Veronica because it had too much backtracking, allegedly. See, here's an unpopular opinion for you - more games need backtracking in them (and tank controls). I still play RE2 even today, twenty years on. They should have kept Alfred on as a recurring antagonist, he was amazing. He chewed the scenery and loved life.
Oh, and fuck the Albinoid. They overhyped that thing, all these files saying "Whoa, it's some really dangerous shit that'll mess your day up!" and it's just some salamander thing in a pool that jobs out.
