The short boy leaned forward with an expectant look, carefully scrutinizing the tickets. "Hmm...Oh, good! They gave you the right ones! Look!" Carefully taking one, he flipped it twice quickly in his hand to reveal a ticket of similar size and shape, though the first one seemed to have vanished. Printed carefully among the swirling design lay an image of the moon and a series of strange lettering, though any actual words were difficult to make out.

With a proud expression, he handed back the newly-changed ticket. "There we go! Here, keep it safe; you'll need this later. Especially if you're going to the show at midnight. I can fix the other one, too, if you like! They should really both look the same when you show him."

"Seven, huh? That is a long time to be hiding out here." If he really thought about it, the story probably got even more melancholy even with just these details. He'd have to remember to come visit more often after this whole crisis.

For the time being, however, he shook his head and gave a goofy smile toward the girl. "Any idea where she lives in the house? If I've had a neighbor here this whole time that I've never even spoken to, I should at least retroactively greet them, right? It's silly, but maybe it's a good opportunity, you know? We could bring some baked goods or a meal or something for an excuse."

I think he was checking how much space was on the flashdrive first, but let me check what I wrote.

EDIT: Yep, he's checking to see if there's any space taken up on the drive first before he downloads anything. No point in pirating anything if there's not enough space available for it, I guess.

Though these stories always inspired sorrow for her mother's loss, she eventually built up her own fantasies from them until she felt the need to visit Earth and make some of those fantasies come true. Sadly, her waits in the bamboo groves have proven fruitless as of yet, and the rest of her time seeing the world for what it is has left her scared and sorrowful. Still, she clings to the hope of her ultimate dream: To find the one true happy ending at any cost!
