Voss' CS

"Answerin' dumb questions."

Voss had just crouched down near another body when Negan interrogated him. The sea captain wasn't anticipating another voice behind him, yet it didn't seem to startle him. Voss' response was delayed by a few seconds as he tapped the body with his Jakobs, checking to see if the person was still kicking. It wasn't until he did that when he finally turned to shoot Negan a smug expression and respond. After that, Voss was quick to return to his attempts at plundering, whether or not the body was among the living.

Another short period would pass and Voss would turn back toward Negan, this time appearing annoyed. He'd stop to extend his arms to his sides exasperatedly.

"Huat's it look like I'm doin'? All I've got so far was shite! Folks still haul these things 'round?" As he complained, he pulled out a flip phone he obtained earlier before tossing it aside.

Abbott's CS

Just as Abbott was finally drifting off to sleep, the distant sound of an explosion rang out through the city, startling the young man to the point of him rolling off the bench and onto his face. Once he did, he felt the faint vibrations in the ground as the detonation shook its surroundings. This is why Abbott can never find a moment to rest. It's because of moments like these.

Anyway, Abbott shakily rose from his feet. He was obviously uninjured, but the man was now pumped with adrenaline. Whipping his head toward the source of the blast, Abbott soon spotted a burning and partially collapsed building in the distance. It was far off to the other side of Metropolis, but Abbott could see it clearly thanks in part to the large pillar of smoke in the sky.

As much as he wanted to, taking such a trip across the bustling city would be a pain in the ass. Without a car to drive, and roads surely clogged in response to the disaster, Abbott could only stare in distress. Abbott could walk (or run, more appropriately) but by the time he was there, the situation would likely be resolved. Regardless, Abbott whispered under his breath while keeping his eyes locked on the scene.

"...Holy shit...!"

Voss took note of Luthor's confirmations involving the watch. It certainly gave him a few devilish ideas. Unfortunately - or fortunately, for his team - he was unable to act on it as an explosion ripped through one of the nearby buildings, launching debris high into the air and back down where they would threaten the lives of the civilians below. Superman has arrived, and the newcomers were given little opportunity to dawdle as Luthor's henchmen swiftly escorted them out of the LexCorp tower and onto the streets. Whether anybody wanted to or not, they all found themselves right there on the scene of the still ongoing disaster. It was now their objective to rescue any nearby victims from thugs now populating the structure while attempting to intercept Superman before he flew away. All before the entire building would be set to collapse...

While some members split off to accomplish different goals, Sanford remained on ground zero with Voss as they contemplated their next move. Sanford happened to be next to the Chosen Hunter when he gave his little schpiel and was quick to approach the Hunter to offer his services. Withdrawing his hook, Sanford spoke to him as he pointed his disembodied hand toward the scene to help visualize his own plan.

"Oh, oh! Me, me! Lemme get on this! I just need to get high enough to make scaling on my hook by myself practical." He began to gesture with his hook in a circular motion. "I'll wrangle up anyone I see and lower them onto any safe spots I see, friend or foe. I imagine we'll need to beat one of those thugs for an explanation. As for the big man himself: if I see him swooping by, I'll throw my hook at him and hold on like he's a bucking bull! Aheha!"

In contrast to the grunt's eagerness to assist, Voss was pacing further away, slinking past the numerous civilians and casualties on the streets yet making no effort to help. The sea captain instead took a trip to stay as far away from the rapidly collapsing building as possible. Where few of the newcomers lingered, Voss selfishly began to loot whatever victims' belongings had on themselves and were unable to defend themselves from Voss. Whether they would happen to be alive or dead, Voss sought an opening. He had no interest in remaining in the immediate danger zone, or here in general. Better make this trip worth it, he reckoned. He began to proceed toward his first target, whoever they may be, with a Jakobs in hand.

"They better 'ave somthin' good..."

Before Voss could get the chance to play with his watch, the others around him and Sanford began to wisely plan their method of defeating this aforementioned Superman. In time, members began to suggest dividing everyone into three teams: Information, Tactical, and Strike. Seems reasonable enough, thought Sanford. Establishing teams built around the expertise of its unique allies would be excellent for coordinating attacks, which would definitely be needed considering the threat level of their target. Sanford was digging the idea. Voss on the other hand…

The sea captain continued to fiddle with his watch. Technology was never really his forte - as you may expect from someone his age - so he never managed to figure out how to use it, much to his disappointment. He had intended to ditch the crew entirely using the watch, but now it seems like he has been forced to direct his attention toward the team-making. Delightful, I know. At least he believed that there was always time to figure things out later. In the meantime, he would try to get himself into the team that would reduce the time he would be preoccupied with something else. And he has just the team in mind when taking the time to observe who is going where.

“Ye ken huat?” The pirate interjected among the crowd as turned on his heel to face the Tactical Team. “Fine. I’ll lend me services t’ ye. I’m sure me military expertise oughta help ye out.” He marched his way toward the group, sliding his striped sleeve back down to conceal his watch. “‘Sides, it’s nay like I got nuthin’ better t’ do…”

VOSS JOINED THE TACTICAL TEAM!

As for Sanford, the Strike Team interested him for obvious reasons. However, given the size of the group already, the grunt chose the next best option, where he would put his espionage skills to good work.

“Aheha! A lil’ birdie told me you need more crew! So I’m here. Move aside, bozos! It’s time to show the world what I'm made of!”

SANFORD JOINED THE INFORMATION TEAM!

Once Sanford attempted to throw his hook toward Luthor, it was almost instantly reflected back toward the grunt thanks to Cole's Shockwave attack. It returned to electrifyingly strike Sanford square in the face, causing him to ragdoll and flip back onto his belly. After a few seconds when the hook finished jumbling on the ground, Sanford unsteadily rose to his feet as he muttered something under his breath.

"... OW! I'm alright...! My lip isn't split, is it?" , speaking to nobody in particular.

Voss, meanwhile, wasn't satisfied with Luthor's answer. The last thing he cared about was home and those around him. What did peak his interest, however, was the watch. Paying little attention to its drawbacks, the sea captain immediately began fiddling with the device. He hadn't activated it to swap places with another user yet, but he was eager to leave a place that - at least to him - lacked the proper consequences to give to those who refuse to cooperate with Luthor.

"... So… I can select anyone on t'is map… an' swap wit' 'em... right now…?" Voss' tone was saturated with delight.

Sanford chuckled yet again but stopped himself once Luthor shot him a glance. His laughter died down to an awkward giggle before hushing completely. While Voss was already by the counter where Kira was, drinking to his heart's contents, the pair watched with the others as Luthor pulled up a hologram to play for the group. It turns out they were all in a city known as Metropolis, which was overrun with superheroes. More specifically, Luthor directed their attention toward one so-called "Superman." To Voss, he wasn't impressed. Superman came off as a very "Gary Stu" type of character and as for Sanford... well, maybe Tricky would beat him in a fight.

Then Luthor showed the gruesome footage. Neither of the two were very appalled - they'd become desensitized by violence and even Voss rolled his eyes at Luthor's reactions - but it did show Superman's capabilities. And, more importantly, it gave the duo a reason to want to pursue Superman. It seemed all fine and dandy to Sanford, but Voss neither cared enough nor was any more frightened. He wanted to be free and go about his own terms. What's stopping him from simply walking out?

Before Voss would do that, however, an emotional Joel pushed himself through the crowd, shoving Sanford among many others, and clocked Luthor square in the jaw. It really was only a matter of time, in all honesty. It was standard procedure at this point. Someone would tell them the plan, everyone fights someone, then BOOM back to work! Even though Luthor had successfully fended off Joel for the moment, he had angered some of the others for essentially holding a child hostage. Again, Voss could care less, but at least Sanford shared some of the sentiment of the others.

"Hey, man! That's not cool! You can't just do that! Where did you put her?" The mercenary spun his meathook again, but this time, he let go last moment to cast the hook. It was intended to use it to attach onto the bald man and fish him closer toward the crowd, but whether or not it would land would be up to fate.

Voss, on the other hand, would wait for the chaos to calm down somewhat. Or, at least, enough to allow the sea captain to approach Luthor without being mauled. Voss had detached the bayonet at the end of one of his Jakobs. While he proceeded toward Luthor, he fidgeted with the blade in one hand while he still had his bourbon in the other. When he was finally given the opportunity to speak, Voss twirled the blade across his fingers casually.

"Alright, alright... All that sounds reasonable an' all, but... huat if I don't want to? Huat if I donnay care? Like, huat I mean is, huat's stoppin' me from jest up an' leavin' ya? Huh?"

At one point in their ordeal, the dull woman from before returned in a noticeably different outfit as she directed the others from the cage to a lift. There, the man who was only known as “Mister Luthor” would await them all. Voss didn’t seem to worry at all, at least, not at the moment. He lagged behind the group, allowing himself to be one of the last ones to leave. The sea captain also got out of his way to catcall the woman on his way out, too.

Sanford, on the other hand, shoved his way toward the front of the group and thus was one of the first to exit. Though he didn’t interact with much verbally, all his obnoxious pushing aside was definitely getting unwanted attention. He could’ve sworn a handful of the strangers gave him the stink eye or shoved him in return… Or both. Just to spice things up to start.

Regardless, not much happened in the time the two of them were on the elevator, as an unusual silence had taken over the majority of the squad. Very few actually dared to whisper, and the dull woman kept her mouth zipped. Sanford excitedly looked about the elevator interior in wonder in this period of time while Voss simply stared at his feet for a few minutes. When the lift had taken everyone where they needed to be, the duo returned to their original formations, with Voss in the back and Sanford in the front.

The room they entered was far nicer than whatever it was that they were kept in. They were even jealous, in a way. At least, Voss was. Smack-dab in the middle of the room was a large desk, at which a bald man was sitting. He made sure to introduce himself quickly, seeing as he was in a bit of a rush, it seems. He was Lex Luthor, and he waited eagerly for the others to relax enough to listen…

… Good luck, Luthor.

Sanford marched his way toward the man in green, pushing more folks aside and making sure he got close to Luthor’s face. At least, close enough to see the man’s head. He made a variety of silly faces to see what the reflection of Luthor’s head looked like.

“WHOA! I think I can see my future off that, dawg! And I thought Hank’s head couldn’t get any shinier!”

Meanwhile, Voss walked about the room aimlessly. He was mostly taking in the scenery as he waited for Luthor’s desk to become less crowded. Maybe he could find the time to threaten the bald man to take Voss home. He rested a hand on one of his Jakobs holsters while he wandered toward where Kira got himself a drink. The old man didn’t sit down, but he did select a bottle of bourbon from the cabinets to pour into a glass. He sipped on it occasionally while staying somewhat attentive toward Luther. Voss heard Kira talk by himself, and the captain huffed before grumbling something in response.

“Hmph. No use in delayin’ the inevitable, I ‘spose…”

In contrast to Gotham City, Metropolis has always been a relatively safer place to set foot on. With the sheer amount of superheroes patrolling the city 24/7, hooligans simply don't see committing these crimes as worth the trouble, so they migrate toward cities more vulnerable - cities like Gotham City. The only villains who even attempt to rear their head toward the various forms of protection are the supervillains who can, at least, match the superheroes’ level.

It was a nice change of pace for Abbott.

Centennial Park was the most calm the ex-sailor had experienced in a long time. Even after returning home for a short period after his encounter with Voss in Chicago, Abbott could never truly let his guard down. Even within the capital city of Shell Island, any previous members of the Phantoms were continuously hunted down by city police. He was always migrating to new locations with the Osteon once their cover was blown. Which was… every few months, if they were fortunate.

Even being out in the open was frightening enough for Abbott. He's become somewhat used to it now over the past few days since he'd arrived here, but it still makes him shift in the spot as passersby gawk at him. He had to convince himself numerous times that it wasn't because he was a Phantom: he was not of this world. He didn't belong here, and neither did Voss.

Abbott knew Voss was somewhere here. At least, somewhere in this world. He'd tracked the sea captain down and took a second chance at rehabilitating Voss. That time in Chicago was nothing short of an absolute failure. But he's determined to give aid to Voss, even when the other Osteons doubt him and Voss shows signs of no return. After all Voss did to Abbott over the years. Foolish? Probably.

In any case, Abbott took this excess time alone to treat himself and enjoy the peace and quiet. The young man was anxious to find Voss, both in a positive and a negative way, but Abbott knew it was probably best to take in the beautiful scenery while he still can. For the last hour or so, Abbott lay across a bench facing the Superman statue, where he was close to falling to a peaceful slumber. It was tempting, but his underlying fear in such a strange place was keeping him from doing so.

Here's to hoping nobody else wants his seat.

QUEEN's CS

As the QUEEN minded her own business (which she really wasn't, she was actually in everybody's business on the sidewalk) she somehow sensed the gun being pointed at the back of her head despite not being able to see it. Instead of reacting like a normal person, you know, screaming and panicking and the like, she laughed yet again before slowly turning toward Terrance.

*Blunt I S-

QUEEN couldn't even finish her sentence before being interrupted by yet another mugger. This time, this one appeared behind her when she had met to face Terrance, armed with a rifle. However, instead of targeting the much bigger gun at QUEEN's head, it was aimed toward the first mugger. QUEEN shut up for a few seconds as she looked back and forth between the two. Eventually, after everyone on the sidewalk fled in terror and they were alone, QUEEN cleared her throat and returned to facing Terrance.

*... Blunt I See

She waited a few more seconds before laughing it all off again. She turned on her heel to face Alex this time.

*Sorry Loser First Come First Serve

QUEEN, much to the surprise of the two, pulled out what resembled a wallet, except it was made entirely of steel and incredibly thick. If either of the two had to infer, it looked like it weighed a ton. She looked toward the street this time at no one in particular as she handed this unusual wallet toward Terrance.

*Since You Asked So Kindly

Should Terrance choose to take this wallet he would suddenly experience an electric current overtake his body upon contact - like one of those electric buttons you wear on your hand to electrocute someone. QUEEN would try her best not to let go unless either of the two pull with considerable force. Regardless, she stares at Terrance blankly, waiting for him to make his next move.

Voss and Sanford's CS

"Who am I?” Sanford finally turned to face Grey and, subsequently, Thomas. His constant chuckling and overall attitude so far came off as very jock-ish to the two. It's a wonder how the grunt could be so enthusiastic when he visibly has these wounds across his face and body that drip black tar. He pouts.

“I'm Sanford, A.A.H.W. butcherer extraordinaire! That's a fancy way of saying 'mercenary.’ If you need someone like me to snuff a life out for ya and you got the cash, I'm the man! Aheha!”

For emphasis, he withdrew his signature meathook and grabbed it by the wire to spin the hook around like a fan. He rotated toward Thomas while still spinning the bloodstained weapon.

“Director of a spy agency? Doc would love you.”

Voss started to cringe heavily as Fret didn't let off on the questioning. If he could, without risking to experience what happened to the guy with the bat, he'd shut Fret up the only way he knew how: with good ol’ violence! Like grabbing him and shaking him like a newborn baby! Of course, threats could work just fine, but Voss had a feeling Fret was so dense they'd fly over his head. Thankfully for the hateful captain, he never really got a chance to answer, as Fret instead focused his attention on the answer Tosai got, and then discarded the curious nature entirely. Voss swiped his brow in relief.

"Phew! Aye, the pirate life, it's… uh… pretty cool I guess…” He almost brought that last part to a whisper before immediately returning it to his normal boisterous volume. He caught a glance of a blur flying across his peripheral and began to look around for where it came from. Voss rotated and stopped and rotated again in place several times in confusion, until eventually spotting Fret speaking to Negan in an angry, naive manner. Voss mindlessly followed Fret, now taking the role as the curious one. What exactly happened here?

“Ey ey, let's settle down, aye? Who threw huat? Who said huat? Gimme the juicy details!”
