Good. The chances are highest when the trauma is highest. The closer you are and the more sudden the death, the higher the chance. And there's no telling what techniques either or both of your eyes will have, or whether they'll be past techniques or brand new ones.

It does not. Though that would have a higher chance of activating it. It'll be some time before your eyes adjust and are able to awaken to that form anyway, so don't go killing your friends very soon.
