Terri damn near dislocated Ryuuto's shoulder with her vigorous handshake, but Ryuuto didn't hold it against her. If anything, he should have expected it, given that she was strong enough to carry all that luggage on her own. He also had a bit of difficulty understanding her through her thick accent. "Ranch, eh? I guess you've got plenty of other things to worry about there, but you don't want the 21st century to leave you in the dust. You'd be surprised how much easier your life can become once you learn how to properly use technology." He grinned and took out his new phone, relishing in the chance to show off his techno-wizardry. "Here. Let me show you--"

He was cut off though as the welcoming ceremony began. "Ah, guess I'll show you another time. Best of luck with your classes though."

@clanjos
@tipssyCalibrator Unless you want 20 posts of, "He stopped what he was doing and looked at the mysterious lady, wondering what was about to happen," you can probably get on with it. lol.
@clanjos Is Terri going to acknowledge Ryuuto's existence, or is she gonna leave him hanging?
@Yuuta I already had Alexei offer to carry stuff for Terri.

Oops! Must've missed that. Lemme fix.

Ryuuto immediately perked up when Freyja mentioned that she would be mentoring some of the new students. He looked up at her for a moment, trying to catch if she was looking at any student in particular, then looked to the crowd. However, he couldn't seem to discern who among them would be lucky enough to have Miss Leden as their mentor. Now, Ryuuto didn't mind the fact that she would be mentoring other students; it was an inevitability given the faculty to student ratio. However, it was likely that he would be working closely with whatever students she would be mentoring, and he was very curious who would be joining him in their lessons. Anyone but the redhead, Ryuuto thought. I'll be okay with anyone, as long as it's not her...

As he scanned the crowd, though, he saw a rather interesting sight. A young girl, probably one of the youngest students that had gathered around, was hauling what looked to be twice her own body weight in luggage. His initial reaction was amusement. She was just so small; how was it even possible for her to carry all of those things... Fortunately, Mr. Pavlov decided to go an offer the girl some assistance. Still, it seemed as though she could use a little advice from an upper-classman.

"Looks like you should make the switch to e-textbooks," Ryuuto said as he approached Terri. "They take up less space, they're less expensive, and you can use ctrl F to find the specific phrases you're looking for. It's an indispensable feature when looking up key terms for homework." He smiled and adjusted his glasses so that the sunlight glistened off of his lenses. "I'm Ryuuto, and I'm guessing this is your first year here." With that, he waited for Mr. Pavlov to take some of her things, and offered to shake her hand. After all, she could very well be the new student that Miss Leden would be mentoring. It would be best to start off on good terms if that was the case.

@clanjos@Hammerman
She couldn't see him getting a girlfriend at this rate.

Ouch! Shots fired!

Ryuuto crossed his arms and shook his head when he heard all the talk about apologizing and making nice. "She's clearly an emotionally unstable and volatile individual. Even misconstruing what you said, a rational person would just tell you to get lost, or at worst, slap you. The best predictor for a person's future actions are their past actions. Do you really want someone in your life that's going to explode at every little thing? I know I don't. I say you just let her be and have her go blow up on someone else. Forget about apologizing." Ryuuto adjusted his glasses, causing them to gleam briefly in the sunlight. He smirked, proud of his assessment of the situation, and determined to have as little to do with that violent redhead as possible.

@Azereiah@Hammerman
In fact, could I get a recap?

The staff and students are gathering for the opening ceremony. Some are chatting it up, some wanna be left alone, Shin is upset that he can't experiment on them, and Hondo wants everyone to shut up. Our resident ninja made a dynamic entrance, and our resident sailor is lost as fuuuuck. Yasu thinks the sailor should stop being lost and start shutting up. Natsuki showed up like a beam of sunshine and started off introductions, sparking Akiko and Brock to both declare that they want to be King of the Pirates the best fighter in school. John had the audacity to say hi to Akiko, but unfortunately his choice of words was less than perfect... so she punched him in the face. Teachers rushed over to figure out wtf happened and John is just like "Ow. Sorry."
Finally added a theme song to Ryuuto! I know I probably took the easy road but... meh. It works.

Ryuuto took a deep breath of fresh air as he made his way to the institute. He was wearing his Sunday best, complete with tie and fully buttoned-up shirt, and walked with an air of confidence and dignity about him. There was something gratifying about having full knowledge about what was going to happen while other faces looked on in awe and wonder. By now, this was a rather familiar sight to him. The new students were all squawking at each other about whose power level was higher, or rambling on about friendship, or other generic newbie stuff. Ryuuto, however, decided to remain quiet, and calmly observe from a distance. It was amazing what people would reveal about themselves when they didn't think someone was listening...

"Ah, Ryuuto, welcome back. How was your holiday?"

"Oh, hello Miss Leden," Ryuuto said, looking up at her with a small smile. "It was... Mmm, you know." It was quiet. His parents had decided that he was old enough not to need a sitter anymore, so that meant his time away from school was mostly time alone. He had probably spent about a week of his break with his parents. Combined. And most of that time was spent being quiet while they were on the phone. But, at least he had a 72" TV with subscriptions to every streaming service known to man, unlimited internet, and a gaming PC with maxed-out specs. So, who was he to complain?

He was about to divert the conversation to something string-related, but their reunion was cut short by somebody getting punched in the face. Somebody he knew very well...

Ryuuto let out a sigh, rubbing the bridge of his nose in exasperation, as he approached his friend. "You just had
to be the first person to pick a fight this year, didn't you?"
Ryuuto smirked. Even though John got rocked pretty good, Ryuuto knew he was more than tough enough to take it. "I suppose I should thank you for the data though. I'm filing that redhead under 'powder keg.'"
