1. I'm in school to become a physical therapist assistant! (Did it!)

2. I will quit any roleplay that has been inactive IC for one month for any reason. I've been in too many Schrodinger's RP's and I'm not doing that anymore.

"I'm in," Penny announced with a solemn nod. "It's been a long while since I had the opportunity to truly use my abilities for their intended purpose."

The golden-eyed woman turned to The Detective with a concerned frown.

"I trust when you say you're prepared for your Sleep, but are you certain there's nothing any of us can do to make it safer? Or at least a little more comfortable for you?"
I'll post something but there's a chance it will be short and bland, since the current prompt is "payment and acceptance of the mission" which Setepenre pretty much covered in her last post.
Personally, I know that I'm not very good at detective/sleuthing/figuring out stuff. It's perfectly fine to have this as an element, but I may be unable to contribute a lot of forward momentum until we get to something I'm better at like combat.
Hi everyone. I'll be spending the weekend camping. I don't have any good ideas for making a new post so soon after my last one. So unless someone makes a post that I can piggyback on by mid Friday, you can expect my post on Monday.

Penny screwed up her mouth in discomfort at the offer of powerful magical protection for her descendants... for an as-yet unnamed price. These charismatic contractual types could be dangerous, feeding off the desperate and feeble-minded and other such negative traits that Setepenre would not stand to emulate.

Glancing through the files on these Innocent victims, however, gave further weight to the opposing argument. So many teenagers reduced to photos and words on a stack of paper. Just the age to possess that dangerous cocktail of believing they are old and wise enough to make their own choices, and really, really not being wise enough. Penny considered how tragically easy it could be for her beautiful talented 17-year-old to be led away by supernatural villains. Heck, Penny was a little surprised Marwa hadn't already started to date a vampire or some other attractive, definitely dangerous bad boy just to spite her.

No. Penny's children were obviously among the most precious and innocent of Innocents. If they hadn't been targeted yet, it was only a matter of time. They in particular needed protection at all costs.

Penny couldn't help shooting a momentary sharp glance toward Albert. 'Out of the goodness of his heart.' Mmmhm. Was that going to be the verbiage in his so-called contract?

"What I have to lose," Penny began with a soft growl entering her voice, "is the same thing that would be at risk if I did nothing. I have deep connections to Innocents - particularly kind and talented and thus at-risk Innocents, I might add - within the City. The thought of harvesting the souls of children, even those not of my own blood, makes it boil with rage. If I want to protect the Innocents I love, I will strive to stop this threat as soon as possible."

Penny paused for a second. She retracted the small bits of claws that had subconsciously begun to unsheath. Then her posture and voice softened a bit as she turned to the Detective.

"Of course, I don't intend to take part in this battle for a net zero at the end. I must admit I've been having some trouble with... ordinances, licenses, all that bureaucratic nonsense the law requires of me to care for my youngest son. I imagine someone as influential as The Detective may have some way to wave it all away."
I'm totally ready for this B plot of Albert @DawningAurora wrangling children in his magic house while the others are in the middle of deadly action combat
Lesser Sloth is not prepared for a 2-year-old XD
Posted. :) And thanks to @duskshine749 for making a post that's easy for anybody to react and respond to. Good idea. Anyone who hasn't posted yet, you can feel free to ignore Setepenre's last statement and keep responding to Cain's prompt if that makes it easier for you. Forum RP gets a little timey-wimey sometimes, anyway.

Penny quieted her mind as well as she could to take in the solemn information The Detective presented. The news of these Outcasts threatening Innocent souls was troubling indeed. But that was why she was here in the first place, anyway, to protect her descendants and others who did not deserve such a fate.

The apparent team name of this group of seven powerful beings, though... 'Lesser Evils?' Penny couldn't help but scoff a little. None of Setepenre's line were ever lesser at anything.

The young phone-obsessed girl beside Penny spoke up about the possibility of connecting dots between The Outcasts' victims. Penny nodded along in approval. She couldn't help but feel a bit of kinship with the girl, who reminded her of her own daughter. Frustrating as it was to try to interact with a person who had their nose on a phone screen 24/7, some of these young folks could pull off certain kinds of magic with the internet that Penny could only begin to fathom.

"That's some good thinking," Penny replied to Juniper, starting a little side conversation. "If it takes us a long time to prepare to take these Outcasts head-on, at least we might be able to protect the Innocents better in the meantime if we can identify which ones are most in danger. Or even, if push comes to shove, pick the most suitable bait for a trap..."

A bit later, one of the team members spoke up about his powers, met by a table full of silence. That... was a very bold move indeed. The more one supernatural being knew about another's powers, the more opportunity they gained to circumvent them and pose a serious threat. Of course, this Cain fellow was certainly not telling the whole truth, nor did Penny really expect anyone at the table to reveal their full hand now.

"I am able to wield the strength of a lioness in battle," Penny addressed the table. "I can transform into a lioness, a human, and anything in-between. Regardless of my form, I have enhanced strength and speed, and I am a skilled swordswoman. My roar inspires supernatural bravery or fear, depending on the situation."

Penny left a few stones unturned, most importantly, the source of her powers. Any being imbued with divine power could be hamstrung by interference with their connection to the divine, and Sekhmet already seemed to have a tenuous grasp on the world in this era as it was. Penny felt a pang of guilt for choosing not to publicly praise the glory of her goddess in this instance. She would find a way to make it up to Sekhmet later.

Penny frowned as she turned to The Detective. She had a burning question that she couldn't help blurting out.

"And, sorry to interrupt the current topic of conversation, but are there any magical or otherwise protections we can put in place to mitigate the risks of these Outcasts immediately identifying us as threats and targeting the Innocents closest to us like a pack of cowards? I understand that most of our... certain variety of people don't tend to keep close connections with mundanes. And I know the risks all of us made just by choosing to walk into this room. But if there is any chance of concealing our identities for as long as possible, I think that should be a priority for us."
Thank you, I appreciate the two-week windows for now.
