As if God himself wanted to throw a curveball to the situation, out shattered a nearby window and out popped a very familiar looking older figure. A smile perked up on Anyon’s face as she gave a few quick stretches, getting ready to join in. “Oh shit, looks like I don’t have to look for him now.” Both of her hands went into some strange pockets on her garb, and them came out with a power of golden knuckles, firmly on her hands. With a sprint and her staff out, it seemed like a more fun challenge was a foot. Well, it seemed that way anyway.
Despite a good blind and a few impressive moves, it didn’t seem like Mirt was going to win this single handedly as they both quickly figured out. One quick smash into a nearby wall with an accompanying blood smear made sure of that. A small groan came out her mouth as she looked at the wolf. Looks like she was doing this solo now and needed to figure out how to get Mirt out of there. Her staff hand extended as she went to the side as the knights ripped the creature’s front legs. “I got you, just give me o-!”
Ironically, like with the previous wolf, she was cut off from attacking as another group of knights descended upon it. In only two casts, he already managed to freeze the creature solid. She shrugged this time as she ran over to where the wolf’s body was and, subsequently, where Mirt was. Him chewing those others out barely registered, outside of the mention of her being a civilian. She was too preoccupied with removing a certain someone from the carcass. She put a hand to it, feeling that, at least where he was, the body was still a tad warm. Might as well make him comfortable instead of lying him on the dirty floor. She tugged him off of it pretty simply, put her over her shoulder, and gave a wave of her free hand.
“Al Huma.”
Instead of the usual spear, a clean sheet of ice, sharp as hell, slit the portion of the body he was stuck on, very cleanly in fact. It slipped onto the floor nicely on the meat portion, leaving the fur portion out and about. She lied him back down on it gently as she placed down her staff and extended her hands. The other man already healed him, but it made sense to at least top him off, especially since there were still some scraps and bruises. “Huma.”
As she did so, she looked back towards the other end of the hall. Those other three had already run off. A glare popped out of her eyes as she looked over there. “Cowardly bastards…” With that, Mirt was almost completely patched up, save a few scratches. Anyon sat back giving a shake of her head. “It’s funny how I thought about bringing you to help deal with this bullshit, and not 6 minutes later, you pop out like we had a fucking psychic link or something.”
It seemed like a rhetorical statement, if those even existed, as she stood straight up after saying it and looked over towards the gas-masked knight. She was far less mad with him as she was with the previous knights as, technically, he was right. Warriors they were, they were also technically civilians while in this country. That and healing Mirt obviously sweetened the deal. Though, she really could care less about this “Sir Walter” or whoever he was. There was shit she wanted to deal with. “Hey, did you know those 3 fucking cowards who walked out of here? They looked like they were fighting the wolf or some shit. With shards of glass no less. Then the douches went and booked it the second he came to help out.” She said as she pointed her thumb in Mirt’s general direction when she said the "he." Those...whoever they were somewhere they were clearly not supposed to be and then just ran. Whatever their reasons were, fine, but she wanted to give them an earful cause it was still a pack of stupid fucking reasons.
Aaaaand done with the behavior part I think. Most important note, never try banging a Panther Wyvern in heat. They will "Jurassic Park" you and it will hurt.
I think you're fine. The measurements go aligned with their beastial form. Just make sure to use it only in very dire situations that require it so that you can have other people actually partake in stuff lol
If she saw them transforming, she'd probably have a mild heart attack before calming down and rationalizing it. Specially if she doesn't realize they're kaiju.
Literally every dragon, or dragon-like character has a second/tertiary form but Nephele now.
Local Cave Dragon is content being a secretary for life
Funniest fact was, I initially made the whole "go insane from transforming" thing cause I figured "Eh, I like the idea of being able to switch to full monster, but it might be a too OP to have some huge monster able to smash things at any time. Don't know the power levels here, but probably should put some limit on it." The irony is delicious, is it not?
Teelfa: Nother cup of coffee Nephele, if you would.
Would be cool to see how she deals with Nephele I think.
Also Titanica and Morgan, but that's beside the point lol
Looks cool man!
Thanks man and lol Yeah, real talk, I was debating what monster girl I wanted to use until I saw nargacuga personifications on danbooru. Pretty much made it a guarantee. Especially with how much fun writing out the species lore was.
She is 5’10’’ in height in both human and Were State, 1100 cm in her Wild State. Name: What did she just say? Age: 27 Race: Panther Wyvern
Transformation: This specific species of wyvern are famous due to a particular strange ability they have that not many share. Panther Wyverns are one of the few known monster girls who are still able to naturally transform until they’re original state, even having the same large size they once had. On average, they are 900 cm-1300 cm(29 ft -42 ft) in length in their Wild State, as its known, and are between 170 cm-230 cm(5 ft 5 in-7 ft 5 in) in their Were State, their more commonly seen monster girl form. In their Wild State, they are immensely strong, far more durable than average(though they were known to be more fragile than most when all monster girls were simply monsters), are fairly good at concealing their appearances despite their size, and are incredibly fast. They also are able to functionally fly in this form, whereas their Were State can only glide despite the talent in said gliding. In their natural environments, they are easily considered an apex predator.
However, this transformation comes with a steep cost. They cannot stay in this form for any longer than a few minutes at a time, for if they do, they risk being driven into complete insanity. When insane, they’ll revert back into their Were State, but will be nothing more than an insane and violent beast. Studies have also shown that they can no longer go into their Wild State due to this, largely believed that they’re simply too mad to trigger it.
Despite efforts, there’s few reported records of them recovering their minds afterwards, though even those incidents only succeed due to it being shortly after the mind break. What causes this is still being researched, but it’s generally believed to be a mixture of hormonal imbalance, various chemical changes from their new monster girl forms, and possibly some unique, special magical trait linked to their transforming ability.
Combat: As for battle, Panther Wyverns are a race well known for three aspects that make them a fearsome monster: agility, stealth, and aggression. In their natural environment or environments suited for their armored body parts, spotting them is incredibly difficult, let alone tracking them down. Even then, they’re sheer speed can cause trouble for most anybody, as they’ll quickly dash around branches or other parts of the territory, wounding opponent in quick bursts one after the other. In fact, they actually are a practitioner of their own unique fighting style that exploits this hunting method, usually running in and out of cover or distance to give a death by a thousand cuts. However, to maintain this speed, they tend to trade defense to keep it and the pressure up, usually leaving them vulnerable to many attacks at a time. On the magical side of combat, fire and lightning are their most natural weaknesses and are magic types that they cannot use. Water, ice, and wind magic, however, they do have a natural affinity for and tend to be the ones their species use. Though, seemingly as a trade off for their transformation, these elemental spells lack the same potency as most other dragons and wyverns. The old belief of "a cat always lands on all fours" is also very, very true as these creatures can have all but one limb broken, yet survive almost any fall from a height due to the sheer flexibility of their joints and amazing reflexes. Their eyesight, smell, and hearing are also heightened far more than most other creatures, though their taste and touch are only slightly above average. Shockingly, large mana pools and a natural affinity for magic was shown, but they did not display any use of said magic when they were still monsters. Nowadays, it's rather common to see mage Panther Wyverns. It's generally believed that they could not truly realize how much mana they had at the time.
Important Misconceptions: There's quite a few misconceptions when it comes to these monsters specifically. Contrary to the "cat hates water" myth, they adore swimming and regularly do it for exercise. They actually just hate rain due to feeling uncomfortable by the continuous soaking, not too mention the lightning frightening them immensely. They even used to believe that gods were trying to smite them, knowing their weakness. They also were not as intelligent as one might expect back when they were full-fledged beasts, though at least not in the way other monsters were. Unlike most other dragons, they did not display many complex societal structures, ancient knowledge, or even know how to communicate with other species outside their own. Instead, it seemed as though all their thought processes were focused on hunting and problem-solving involving their resources. Their eyesight is naturally amazing and they actually have night vision. Do not make the mistake of thinking their night vision is only active when their eyes glow, for all the glow does is heighten their sight very slightly. It's primarily used as an intimidation factor.
However, the most dangerous mistake is when they are in "heat" or more importantly "unrestricted heat." These happens 5 times a year, last about a week, and, to help control it, are held in place via certain drugs and specially developed magic by the Panther Wyverns. It was developed as soon as possible after the sheer destruction caused by their first season of heat when the monster girls were made. This terrifying event was called "The Weeks of Snatched Skies" due to the sheer amount of them that descended down upon nearby villages. Panther Wyverns in unrestricted heat are not what a normal human should be near. It is not an invitation for "plentiful love" as some ignorant adventurers think, but a practical death sentence. They will screech and howl as they search the skies for mates, with their smell enhanced even further than it was previously to sniff them out and even mark their territory in attempts to attract them. They are incredibly aggressive lovers to other species, with them only being even remotely "gentle" towards closely related species. Unlucky people tend to be torn apart during mating, though rarely eaten entirely. This is due to them simply tearing into them as a means of stress relief due to the immense heat, agony, and stress caused by their estrus. They are required to take some form of relief for these heat periods, which lets them stay overall unchanged in behavior during these heats. Not many Panther Wyverns have had complaints about this due to how unenjoyable the experience is.
Behavior: Panther Wyverns tend to differ in how they interact, depending on the environment. In more wild or rural areas, they stay in fairly large packs, with usually 30-40 members, possibly more. In cities and urban areas, they tend to be more solitary, with average groups only usually being of a nuclear family at best. However, there have been instances of them staying in their large packs in more "family-centric" cultures. They are both immensely proud of their monster origins and of their enhanced senses. They are a proud pact of hunters and tend to prefer eating raw, freshly killed meats if they have the choice. Curiosity tends to happen due to inspecting new parts of their environment or when observing prey. Reputations of them also are also less than stellar due to The Weeks of Snatched Skies and reports of insane Panther Wyverns causing havoc. They instinctually feel at home in largely wooded areas and tend to be more uncomfortable in other areas, though they can adjust well enough. Claw marks and bite marks tend to indicate the territories of the wyverns, though usually just in the wild.
Magic/Abilities/Equipment: Besides her racial abilities, Teelfa is an excellent practitioner of wind magic, specifically cutting wind magic and “breeze” wind magic. She primarily uses the breeze wind magic to increase her speed or suddenly change direction, giving opponents dodges and moves that hard to predict. It also can be used on allies to give them speed buffs, though due to her being so much less experienced in buffing, the increase is very short, only a few seconds. She’ll also use breeze magic as a quick distraction, specifically blowing strong gusts into people’s faces to disorient or catch them off guard. It can even be used to temporarily make her “levitate”(not so much fly, there is a difference) and make her harder to hit overall. Adding to it, she’s able to send gusts of pure wind pressure out of her attacks, both magical and physical. It’s also possible for her to detect other presences by sensing changes in the overall wind, though it can be evaded by being particularly stealth, not being in the area she’s sensing, or simply via other magical methods. On top of that, she needs to be particularly focused to sense them out.
Her cutting wind magic, while good, isn’t nearly as well rehearsed as her breeze magic. She can obviously create vicious slashes of wind to send out against opponents. She can even make a temporary barrier of cutting wind magic, but she needs near perfect concentration to avoid accidentally cutting herself with it. Concentrating more and using far more mana, she can even create small tornadoes, but they tend to exhaust her heavily and only last for a minute at best. Besides that, there’s not much else she can use it for.
As for more personal physical abilities, the martial arts she learned as a Panther Wyvern are deadly, but poor in defense. Mixed with her wind, it all is dependent on quick strikes over and over, while simply moving too fast for opponents to properly counter. Of course, if they can keep up or read her attacks, the plan falls apart, but she tries to make up for that using her gusts as either distractions or as a “poor man’s defense.” Her equipment is simple in terms of what she brings on an average quest. She has knives and daggers to accentuate her quick strikes and even an arm mounted crossbow for long range attacks, specifically due to how quiet it can be. She also adores her pair of retractable heel blades, able to swing out from the inner side of her heel. A few healing potions are also on hand, though usually just as a precaution. To keep her appearance masked, she does not exhaust in the “security” of it. Specifically, she has a headband, an armband on her right arm, and even a keychain on her waist, all of which are individually able to keep her Panther Wyvern traits in check. On top of that, she also has a passive magic kept on herself, of which she renews once a week, to keep her appearance masked as well. These can all be shut off if she uses a code-word to disable them, letting her true predatory form free.
Personality: Teelfa is one of the most laid back people most know. The casual smile that’s on her face 80% of the time is a big indicator of that. While not one to go out and make conversations, she’s still pretty affable and friendly when talked to. Her ideal use of her idle time is peace, quiet, and something a bit mentally stimulating, such as a book or some research. Despite this, she doesn’t mind spreading her more “actiony” wings here and there. Money is also a casual love of her life, something she doesn’t fawn over but knows she needs and therefore wants it. On quests and in daily life, it’s rarely mentioned, but she tends to be strict about only doing tasks that pay well and getting payment, both before and after the quest. While far from an addict, she also enjoys the occasional smoke and drink, both for calming nerves and just for enjoyment or taste. Her true passion is, surprisingly, in music. She absolutely adores singing, regarded even as having amazing talent there, and even knows how to play a fair amount of instruments, though only she's only a professional in a few. Relationships with people younger than her tend to have her act as an “older sister,” protective and informative with playful teasing, and silently agreeable to those who are much older than her.
While she’s generally good at handling stress, she has a breaking point. It’s never been a good or pleasant sight to see her during her breaking point, especially with how hard the stress hits her. Her Wild State is something she’ll refuse to use unless it’s the most dire of circumstances, considering it a last resort. She’s also rather peculiar when it comes to learning new things, specifically that they need to relate to something she already knows in some way or shape. Otherwise, she outright will refuse to learn it. Forgiveness is something she practices heavily, unless they’ve done something to someone she’s very close to. In which case, running and bodyguards are the advised move. When revealing to people her true race, she will certainly make them swear to not tell a single soul, almost always making very legally-binding contracts just to be certain, with the consequences being severe. Practicing law all these years did pay off for something, after all. Also, while not very racist, she tends not be all too fond of humans, especially human women. She tends to be distrustful of them.
Background: Teelfa’s past is interestingly checkered. Her childhood is simple, having been born to a mother that was pretty much single not long after her birth. According to her, she does have a sister but when her father left, he took her with him. With his whereabouts unknown, hers were too. Her childhood was fairly average despite this, with her mother doing her damndest to support her, and a fine job at that. Friends were aplenty and her time was joyful with them. The rare moments her mother could play and entertain her, however, were some of the best moments of her whole life. To this day, she even has a few collections from those times spent with her mom.
Her teenage years, specifically 12-19, are where things become a blur. She knows, obviously, but no one else does. Any probing forth into it is usually met with scorn, harsh no’s, and, if still insisting, any sort of lie to get them to shut up about it. It’s the one thing that she’ll even get physical over just by attempting to discuss it. Afterwards, however, her life continued as normal with her deciding to go into scholarly studies. She began to practice law, magical studies, financial strategy, and other things that got her brain revving. Around this time, she found the magic for keeping herself into her human guise. Her Were State was even given a nickname to throw people off the trail(Monica to be exact). Once she learned her fill, she went out to explore the world once again, having only one goal in mind. All she wanted now was to gain enough money to simply live comfortable, as she would like, for the rest of her days. It didn’t need to mean untold riches, nor feasting like a queen every day. All it meant was simply having a cozy life.
Some years later, she was mostly settled down. A steady job, with the occasional singing in a tavern or even concert, and a reliable place for her to sleep is pretty settled after all. It was, for this time and age, a cozy living. Soon, she heard tell of the strange Bart and his invitations of guild quests. While she laughed at some of the man’s ideas, the idea of guild quests did raise a good possibility. Should she gain enough treasure from it, simply pawning it off could be the quickest possible route to her preferred lifestyle. Besides, her species were not-only made for more grueling quests, but she could probably handle the more simple ones in a human guise. And if people, say, were to spill the beans on her? Well, she had just enough wealth, willing “informants,” and knowledge to make it so she’d either be getting rich or ruining their lives for it. It was time for a new age of adventure.
Themes:
Best Monster Girl is pretty much every demon girl. I'm probably going where they live anyway, so I at least have a connect on the way down. That and flying while fucking just sounds terrifying but cool.
The Panther Wyvern description isn't quite done, but the important parts are pretty much out there. Just have to do a paragraph about behavior. Let me know if I need to nerf anything, but I think I expressed the whole "fast and strong, but physically weak" part well enough. And if the pictures are or aren't working.
@ZekariVoblis: I think the weapons are still excessive. I'd cut it down to a few easily-hidden things.
Alright. Brought it down to just a pistol, rifle, 2 knives, and some flashbangs, not counting the magical items. The only reason I didn't edit those out is because, well, I figured the Japanese wouldn't be too concerned with some "trinkets" in their eyes. And the rifle I rational by him just taking it apart and putting the pieces as covertly as possible in all his luggage(gotta do multiple bags so it's easier to hide all the parts). Also it's partially cause if I get rid of that too, he's kinda boned against most magical people if he can't use Nagi for whatever reason. Cause they're main character magic as opposed to mook magic.
