So, as the title of this interest check states, this is to see if anyone is interested in a possible Castlevania-based roleplay. I'm a huge Castlevania fan, and I've been toying with an idea after replaying two of my favorite titles: Aria/Dawn of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin.
The premise is this:
Throughout the ages, the legendary Belmont clan had stood as the defenders of mankind from the tyranical rule of Dracula and his legions of the damned. But as with all things, these defenders of man would one day cease to exist. It is in this time that a new threat to the world arose...
A group of scholars studying the occult, including the various occurances whihc brought up the countless ressurections of Dracula and his dark castle, stumbled across a peculiar trio of tomes said to contain the secret to the Count's power. Each book, written in ancient lettering different from the others, were spirited away from their resting place within Europe to a prestigious university specializing in the study of dead civilizations and their cultures. Within the darkened halls, late at night, the secret of the tomes was slowly uncovered. Words translated to English from the lost tomes filled a series of notbooks within the office of the university's Dean, who then began to slowly piece together if and how the tomes were connected. The research made leaps and bounds as the weeks went on but as is the way of all things, history is doomed to repeat itself yet again.
The uttering of certain passages within each tome opened three gateways across the world. Through these gateways poured the dark legions that once roamed the world in the days of the Belmont clan. The Dean, however, seemingly disappeared with the tomes without a trace.
Now, fast forward two years.
The world is in a state of ruin. Creatures of the night, both living and undead, stalk humankind with an endless thirst for blood and death. It was during this time that the remnants of the Lecarde clan, who aided Johnathan Morris' father in repelling the threat with the legendary Vampire Killer whip, sought out and gathered many youths to be taught and trained in the ways of utilizing both blade and magic to combat the threat and act as the escutcheon that defends mankind.

Now, with that explained, the heroes of the roleplay would each be recruits of the Lecarde Liberation Syndicate. their journey will start where the origins of Dracula were born...the Romanian countryside. There are no limits to the place of origins for characters, so they may be of any human racial background. The weapons and magic that can be used/learned are entirely open for creative measure. The only true requirement is that magic does not inherently be all-powerful. That means no utilizing some spell that can incinerate an entire town...at least, not immediately. Much like a trade skill, magic slowly grows in strength as the user uses it.
For weapons, those available throughout the Castlevania games are the focus for combat. that does not mean, however, that a specially-crafted rifle that fires bullets etched with elemental sigils for special damage types aren't possible. The only restriction for weapons are as follows:
>Vampire Killer - Due to only being able to be truly wielded by the Belmonts (who have long since disappeared from our world)
>Spear of Alucard - An enchanted lance wielded by Eric Lecarde during his battle alongside Morris against Dracula
>Unique 'subweapons'
-Grand Cross: A special skill that only the Belmonts could produce (with the exception of Johnathan and Charolette through immense concentration
-'Soul' Abilities: These are classified by the abilities utilized by Soma Cruz during the crisis in which Dracula's ressurection was to occur, and his Dominance power was awakened due to his destined role as the reincarnation of Dracula
Aside from that, the story will focus around the heroes as they work together to erradicate the threat to mankind once more. Now, I do hope to get a few people to partake in this with me. Do not think that you can only play the part of the hero, though~
Anyone who would be interested in playing the part of a villain, feel free to PM me so we can discuss it in private. This will help keep things in the storyline fresh and exciting. :D
