Kingdom Hearts: Dirge of the World Eater is an alternate-universe Kingdom Hearts roleplay created by Kurai and Wayward and centered around an original cluster of Worlds. It will follow a Keyblade Master and his group of apprentices as they try to seal away an ancient terror, all while striving to become masters, facing a menacing villain, and fighting Heartless along the way. The tone will be similar to the main Kingdom Hearts series (KH 1 and 2), perhaps slightly darker, and Disney worlds will be featured. While the main roster only consists of eight slots (one Master and his three apprentices, as well as one villain and his three apprentices), original characters will still be welcomed and we will do our best to work any and all participants into the story.
I will be playing the Dark Keyblade master and Wayward will be playing the Light Keyblade master, so the apprentice slots are what we're looking to fill. The RP will be focused around the apprentices, while the masters are there mostly to guide the story and facilitate the apprentices' character development.
Glad you asked! Here's a short summary of the back story surrounding this RP:
50 years prior to the start of the RP, a monster of darkness invaded the cluster of worlds the story takes place in. Within only days of it's appearance it had devoured four of the eleven worlds, earning it the name "World Eater." Making its way to the fifth planet, the Keybearers of the cluster knew they had to stop the beast. They met it in battle in a world called Ancient Desert. However, the beast was too powerful and they were not able to kill it outright. So, in an effort to keep the worlds safe, the Key Bearers locked the beast into a prison of light that rose into the sky over the world they fought upon. The light was made from the Key Bearer’s hearts, and as long as they lived the prison would hold. The world was renamed Hero’s Requiem in honor of the battle and the fallen Key Bearers.
Much has changed during the fifty years between the Battle of Ancient Desert and the present. The Key Bearers, once known unanimously as stalwarts of justice, are now split into two distinct groups. On one side is the former enforcers, vigilant in protecting the cluster by any means necessary. On the other side lies the Key Bearers who wish to use their power for personal gain, darkened by the years of twilight that followed the imprisonment of the World Eater.
Meanwhile, a shadowy presence claws at the edges of the worlds as it appears Heartless have returned to wreak havoc on the cluster, but the Keybearers are at a loss as to why.
All the while, as the Keybearers that fought in the Battle of Ancient Desert begin to grow old and pass on, the World Eaters prison grows weaker and weaker...
