I can't wait to get this started and see where it goes! I am excited!

I'm looking through some Japanese tales right now, since I have a book of them in my room, but if I don't get any inspiration from that, I'll probably go with one of the less popular Grimm tales. I'm going to try to bring in some male characters, since I still don't have a lot of experience with female characters yet, but I could probably switch over if needed.

Lets see, as of right now we have 5 males and 4 females. I'm still waiting to hear from Rainmaker, RPGGamer and FoxFireOfDawn so I'll let you chose what gender you want to be as of right now.

Pretty sure I'll go with Ariel, unless anyone with a prior claim has objections. If they do, I could likely do something with Tinkerbell, Ursula, or some more obscure fairytale. Reading them now, actually.

Pretty sure Ursa said that they didn't mind you taking Ariel. The only thing I'm somewhat concerned about is how that would exactly work since everyone else is on land lol

Well she could have the ability to change in and out of fish form at will.

Yeah, I was thinking if I went with the apprentice sea witch or something, Ariel could perform that trick and be in the process of learning more. She could be on land for information - finding sailors would be easier that way rather than swimming around seeking.

Or the Twelve Huntsman story - the princess who hires 11 girls similar to her and kind of stalks her beloved. Kind of an elite team thing, though I'd have to do something to remove them because screw NPCing 11 others. Maybe not.

Hmmm...I do like the apprentice Sea Witch thing, but as we all know...Magic always comes at a price *troll face* What would the price of using this magic be? Like, is there a repercussion for each time she transforms?

Of course. Going with the Grimm version, it'll be constant pain in her legs. Easily dehydrated to the point of ill health? A requirement that she be submerged in saltwater for a while every 12 hours? Hmm.

The power just went out here, so getting my research done is going to be difficult for a little while. I'll come up with something and post some ideas tomorrow.

Ariel

A daughter was born to King Triton in the image of her mother, with hair of flame and a song that could entice even the most forbidding sailor. As was the coming of age gift, Ariel was allowed one visit to the surface. During that visit she witnessed a ship being pummeled by a storm and swam closer to save one of the sailors - a Prince Eric. Having saved him, she also became thoroughly enamored and sought the Sea Witch's magic in hope that she might join the prince on land. The price for legs was constant pain, the threat of absolute death without true love's kiss, and the loss of her coveted voice. Ariel returned to the prince, but eventually he fell in love with and married a girl who pulled him from the shore after Ariel rescued him.

Although she despaired, Ariel's sisters sought the Sea Witch and made another bargain that would return Ariel to the sea: Prince Eric's death. When night came and she stood over the sleeping couple, Ariel only briefly wavered before slaughtering the prince in his sleep - after all, he had scorned her. She returned to the sea by dripping the blood on her legs and feet and then apprenticed the sea witch. She learned to walk on land, a trick that cost her much but gave more, including the death of the princess who allowed Prince Eric to believe she had been the savior. Although Ariel rejoices in dragging sailors to their watery deaths, she is never quite satisfied.

I'm debating whether I'll keep her a mute or not. Perhaps she'll be granted a voice, though not one of her original quality. Hummhum.

She should prolly have stolen the voice of the princess as well.

Night speaks in a very soft yet smooth voice, or else is entirely silent while passing through human towns. Day/Dawn converses easily with people, and has a very charismatic voice and tone. Sun is loud, her voice is powerfully passionate...ranges from being like a lion's roar, to a seductive and piercing tone of a siren.

Anywho...list of characters people have expressed interest in RPing...

I kind of like the idea of keeping her mute, at least for now. It would give her a dynamic that no other character we have has...but it's up to you lol

How powerful is Ariel? Obviously she knows a bit about magic, where would you say her skill level is at?

She can always steal a voice at some point, which will be fun to bring about. I don't see her being particularly powerful, since her initial power resided in her voice and without that she'll be a lesser witch, especially since otherwise she's not a strong, natural-born witch but is rather driven more by determination. Perhaps start her out fairly weak and have her progress, but at her peak I don't think I'd want anything especially powerful. 1-10, peaking at maybe 7?

Maybe she can...steal voices of people by killing them, but it only lasts temporarily? Or, perhaps, she regained her ability to speak...but much like the nymph Echo, can only repeat word that have already been spoken out loud?

Tanderbolt, FoxFireOfDawn, TheRPGGamer, YamiCuoreLaroux, I'm still waiting to hear from you guys as far as your involvement/interest in this game. However at this point we will be moving forward to start talking about the actual games plot so just get to me as soon as you can alright?

As for everyone else, I have a main question: Do we want to start this whole thing off while everyone is still in the fairy tale land to get a general grasp on our characters?
