I will be making it my responsibility to ensure that the Rangers remain balanced. While the Ranger Corps is indeed heavily influenced by the Rangers Apprentice series, and I do enjoy many aspects from it, I intend to ensure that this Ranger Corps is a little more heavily invested in realism. For that matter I hope you can trust me to keep up the realism aspect. But if you ever have questions or concerns just let me know.

That having been stated, I wish to repost my CS as is

@Lucius

can i take a moment to admire your icon? its a freaking bunneh! *mind blown*

thanks for the feedback! i'm one who accepts criticism and i do see what you mean by the armor being a bit out of place and too form fitting. though i guess i just overlooked the fact that this is a different time period with different styles of armor. i suppose i'll look for other pictures tomorrow when i'm fully awake. i wish i could provide you with an essay like you've written me but, im actually struggling to see straight.

anyway as for the sword and shield, i suppose i was not paying too much attention to wether it looked too nice to use (if thats basically what you were saying. if not please clarify.) i guess i was looking for something pretty and not realistic. Um, but really will it affect the rp at all? i dont see how something like that would be a problem. she knows people. ^^

so yeah thanks for the feedback! i would like to hear a GM's opinion on the matter and i'll gladly change anything that desperately needs to change. ^^

well would you look at that. i've written a small essay!

I have nothing against a cool looking weapon. It's simply a matter of practicality. I've yet to see a sword like yours as a longsword, and armor's like hers seem a bit too thin to serve in the heat of battle, unless we have advance metalurgy techniques. Also just about everything will be made of steel unless we discover titanium.

Generally form-fitting armor is a bad idea, especially for women. If your armor were to be dented, the armor may have managed to protect you from the blow that dented it, but now it is harming you with the dent since it is form-fitting. Medieval armor generally worked in layers - you'd have your mail shirt (optional) on the bottom, then your gambeson or arming coat, and then you'd attach a series of overlapping plates directly to the gambeson or arming coat via the use of several straps. Thus, you have plate armor. This way, if your plates are stronger as they are overlapping, and since the armor isn't acting as a second skin, if it is dented it won't be directly pushing into your body.

At least, that's how it was explained to me. Hope I helped.

You always have 2 essential components to armour:
A hard exterior layer that keeps the actual weapon out
A soft internal layer that absorbs blunt trauma and makes sue ytour own armour won't scar you.

As a result (and then again what layers are included varied wildly, due to design of armours and the advance of armouring technology itself) you usually put the plates on the outside, the chainmail underneath, and under that always a gambeson/doublet/aketon/... (Unless your armour had padding rivetted or sewed into it, such as some greaves and helmets)
So yes, you are correct, safe for that mail doesn't go under the gambeson, unless another gambeson is worn underneath.

This post made me waste 2 hours looking up stuff about armour. Holy shit.

Ah, on topic of your armour:

I will admit that it's incredibly hard to find what you are looking for; an armour that is practical and worthy of using, aswell as fantasy and to your liking, so I'll just give you some general rules for describing it along with a picture.

Before that: Armour stops the weapon from harming you, but blunt trauma can still kill. Quickly explained: You have a plastic container of jelly. Stab it, slash it, the countainer holds. Hit it really hard with something, the container still holds, but upon opening your container your jelly will be ruptured and in general a soup of sploosh. Now translate jelly to your brains and container to armour.

A) Armour IS bulky (note, where it has to be bulky. Look up 'Maximillian plate armour' or '1460 English plate armour' on google for examples) , because it works. You wear padding underneath to protect you from blunt trauma, and as such form-fitting armour is not good, since it does not allow for proper padding (and will just get you killed evenly fast, only in another way: Instead of dying to grievous cuts you will die to grievous internal bleedings). Additionally, any battle-damage will obviously obstruct you.

B) Armour guides blows away from the body, and as a result it is shaped 'aerodynamically' as I tend to translate it. It's healtheir if you get hit and the sword glances off (aka, not getting a good angle on your armour and as a result transfers hardly any force through the plate and padding into you) you will be much better off than if it hit your squarely. As such, boob-plates who direct blows to your plexus are suicidal. It traps all force of an attack to hurt you.

C) Armour needs to protect you, aka; cover as much as possible. If that isn't possible, cover the most vital parts so you might get wounded in for example your forearm, but it'll take a lot more to outright kill you. As such, using a breastplate that doesn't cover you sides, belly, or collarbone area is just a waste of material if we are looking at it from a practical point of view.

With that in mind you can adequately describe/imagine any kind of fantasy armour that works. Also, yes, the sword is fine now. I'll just let the shield pass as an ornate buckler or something :P

@Roran

hello! i dont think we've spoken before. if we have im sorry for not remembering. its not you its me. ^^;

why does Alice call you tummy cat? Are you secretly a really nice person? how many toes do you have? whats your favorite color? do you like one direction? how come our new gen characters havent met yet? do you eat grapes? ...have i asked to many questions? dont yell at me, i'm cute! *runs away*

I am 22 year old guy, work in the fast food industry. My co-workers continuously make fun of me, and I really can't do anything about it becuse my boss is an obnoxious jerk who only cares about the money. I barely earn enough to sustain myself and the only recreation I have is doing things with the only friend I have, who is fucking mentally retarded. I've been trying for years to get my driver's license, but I always fail the actual test and have crashed my car during it twice already. At home my only companionship is a lousy cat that only sticks with me because I feed it, and I sleep on a heap of matrasses because I can't afford a real bed.That's why I'm on here, to vent about stuff that happens to me in real life. Also, I live in a pineapple under the sea.

So, I just want to apologize for not posting in awhile. I just haven't had the time to sit down and think for like two seconds. Also, I have no idea what I want Elora to do, but I will try to get one up some time today.

EDIT: Post is up and Edna's picture will be replaced when I find something better. I just thought it was a pretty funny stand in.

Now I'm left to wonder what to do... Probably shouldn't have had Leeson left the Boot Buckle, but it's piratically a grand melee with how many people are there. I guess I could have Lucilia find Melisa, but... Meh.

No! Don't fuel the Roro'ing! It will bring ruin on us all! x3

Also, I will try to make sure that some event or news will be spread around. Those who aren't sure what to post or what to do, can try to react on that. Or in some way hear of it and then react to it. Not directly as nobody can influence the event or spread of the news. >:3

Yes, that is why there is a certain limitation on how you can start. Everybody has fallen into my dirty plotting- I mean... nothing.

I love it, it's like I've created an RP within an RP. RPception. Haha. Ah. A............... fuck I hate my life.

Righty'o, time to go see what everyone's complimented everyone else on, and insert a subplot where Jymson embarks upon a magical quest to uncover the pint that doth not empty.

EDIT: That all being a joke, in case someone was sharpening their keyboard.
