So you guys have been in pokemon roleplays before, yes? You play the trainers or the pokemon...but never the bad guys. No one seems to want to play evil characters in Pokemon. [strike]Probably because it's a kiddie game and I'm way too old to still enjoy this[/strike]Call me crazy, but I want to play the bad guys.

So here's the idea: In a Pokemon world heavily based off of the games with some anime/manga influence, our characters are one of the common groups of travelling trainers, trying to collect badges through Kanto and reach the Indigo Plateau. They're just starting their journey when some of the characters (about half) somehow find a Team Rocket member(s).

And they get talking

And suddenly they're recruited.

BUT...here's the catch. They CONTINUE the journey with the group and perform TR jobs on the side. None of the TR members know who is a member and who isn't (at least, not in the beginning of the RP. They may reveal themselves later on.) and the good guy trainers are getting suspicious. So, the object of the roleplay is to continue being evil for as long as possible without getting caught. At least, evil like Sandman and Mr. Freeze are evil. You know, a villain you can bond with. Hopefully not in the way that Sandman and Mr. Freeze bonded with sand and cryogenics...

Members will probably get one good guy and one TR guy. Maybe more, if not many people join. No one will have the same pokemon as another. So some people can have the Kanto starters (no other region starters, since this is Kanto) and some won't. (I won't.) I will have a Normal-type character and a Grass, Bug, or Poison type character.

NOTES ON THE WORLD:
My vision of Pokemon is not at all like the anime. The pokemon are relatively sapient (smart) but humans aren't quite sure just how smart they really are. Pokemon don't say their names over and over, either; they make animalistic sounds that make sense for the animals they resemble. Pokemon eat eachother. Unlike the anime, most pokemon are not omnivorous. There's a wide variety of carnivores, omnivores, herbivores, frugovores (eat fruit, seeds, nuts), insectivores (eat insects), autotrophs (photosynthesize, aka the more plant-like Grass-types) freakin' Venus Fly Traps(the Bellsprout line)...The more humanoid ones can parrot human languages, but not well.
And yes, people eat Pokemon here, and most do not have a problem with that. I would gobble up fried Octillery in a heartbeat. (My favorite food is calamari.)
And yes, all the pokemon and generations are available. However, the non-Kanto pokemon are really rare. We won't find them as often.

Continuing my last comment:

Yep, all the pokemon will be available. Kanto pokemon are the most common, then Johto since the two regions share a land border, then various flying and water types of all regions since they migrate, then Hoenn/Sinnoh/Unova/Kalos all at the same rarity amount. The pokemon of different regions will be found in similar places, like Bug/Grass in the forests, Fire/Ground/Fighting/Rock in the mountains, etc. I assume all the ghost types will converge in Lavender Tower in one big Ghost-pokemon rave party.

Cause you know all those ghosties are raving up there. ;)

Omg~
Playing the bad guy is my specialty.

Question: Can I has Ralts? Or maybe a Meowstic. Man I love those two pokemon xP
Or better yet, what kind of pokemon exactly will we be starting with?

EDIT: Also, will this just pretty much be a standard journey, with us just doing evil bad guy stuff on the side?

Sorta a standard journey. We'll start out around Cerulean/Vermilion. We'll have one-two pokemon at first. The main plot of the story is to eventually stop Team Rocket, who will be doing evil things left and right. I kinda want it to be a suspenseful RP, where the good guys are trying to find out exactly what their friends are doing, some trying to help them get out of TR, some wanting vengeance/justice, and the bad guys constantly trying to keep their lies straight while satisfying Team Rocket and their friends. Like Breaking Bad in the beginning, when he actually cared about Skyler.

As for Ralts/Meowstic...I'd say whatever's more common. I know Ralts is really rare in Ruby/Sapphire. And Meowstic looks cooler, but I'd have to be an Espurr for now.

Ah right, I meant Espurr. Was a bit late last night and I typed the wrong pokemon's name xP
So, Espurr it is then I guess~

Dunno about Breaking Bad. Never watched it.

So wait, would we be trying to stop team rocket? I thought we would be playing the bad guys?

The good guys that we play are trying to stop the bad guys that we also play. We play both regular trainers and Team Rocket trainers.

Well, I'd like everyone have two, but it's not mandatory. I'm playing two, a Normal-type trainer and either a Poison or Bug TR guy.

Psychic here :D

Steel/Dark are my next favorites, though I usually keep a varied team with no more than two of the same type on it.
