The interrogator in the pod had told him to come help the commissar which was expected. What was unexpected was that the moment he dropped from the pod the jungle came alive with screeching and yelling noises. Quickly unslinging his rifle from his back he chambered a round. "Hey guys this may not be the best time but I would say we have a problem!" Adrian yelled while climbing back on top of the life-pod to have a better vantage to snipe from.

Wanting to help the proctor but also being given an order to go back conflicted Grav's thinking. On one hand, the proctor could possibly die due to the amount of mutants he heard in the brush, and on the other he could go and get help and possibly save him.

"Fink Grav fink! you got to make a choice! than it hit Grav, activating his personal vox-caster to the interagrater he sent a message to him, satisfying his need to fallow orders and protect the ally.

"Mutants! Need back up!" as he let loose Daisy and peppered the foliage with ripper fire as he started to move in.

Adrian sat astride the life-pod rifle at the ready and his muscles tensed. Suddenly he heard the roar of gunfire in the jungle "shit" Adrian muttered as he raised his rifle scanning the undergrowth for movement. "Where are you come on show me something" Adrian said to himself while he scanned his teeth gritting and sweat starting to break out on his skin. "Anybody got eyes on a tango?" Adrian called to the others as he slowly lowered the muzzle of the rifle.

Honoria gave no indication of having heard the warning, continuing her merry woodcutting activities and carrying yet another log down to the beach. Not yet having been alerted that there was in fact a town to cannibalise for parts--or possibly just get a ship off entirely--she had no inclination to stop just to mess with a bunch of mutants. What did she look like, a soldier? If they came to her, then there'd be charred meat... but until then, she was going to continue doing something useful.

The howling from the woods wasn't a good sign. The hairs on the back of Ray's neck were prickling. Suddenly Ray's commbead squealed again, "Mutants! Need back up!" Grav was clearly distressed. Sure enough, the sound of his ripper gun could be heard in the distance.

"Fething Warp! Everyone, Gaius and Grav are having a bit of a mutant problem. You, sniper, stay where you are and slot anything with more than two eyes. Commisar, Igam, go out and find the Proctor and the big guy and get them back here. Take these commbeads, and set them to frequency alpha-red." Ray tossed them to the two. Everyone else, set up a defensive perimeter around the pod. That means you, techpriest. If it doesn't look human, shoot it, but I don't want you hitting our guys."

"Grav, you okay? How many are there? Respond, Grav."

Grav was having a hard time, several mutants had jumped on him and he couldn't get them off. Their weapons couldn't do much but they were annoying. As he stomped one underfoot he began to hear the interagrator's voice.

"Grav, you okay? How many are there? Respond Grav?" The interagrator ordered.

"Der is one...two...free...OUCH! quit biten ya runts!" Grav yelled over the vox accompanied by the sound of crunching bone and squeals of pain.

Grav started firing Daisy into another group closing in on him as he yelled "Sorry Interagrator, ders just to many to count!"

It was at this point that Grav lost his temper and started to swing around, causing the mutants crawling over him to fly in odd directions. With a deafening bellow, Grav charged into the remaining survivors of his burst of fire, crunching and turning the squiggly things into paste under his boots as he went.

Igam caught the commbead, and jammed it into is ear, glad to finally have orders. "Yes sir," he spoke up, and slowly pulled himself to his feet. He started to make his way to his allies in the forest, leaning heaving on his staff. Igam made a point to avoid the soldier in red, and gave her as wide a berth as he could. Igam kept his eyes down, simply following the sounds of gunfire and screaming, when a mutant appeared in front of him from the forest. The oblong non-human screeched at Igam, and brandished a crude wooden cudgel. Igam flicked his eyes upward to give a withering glare to the mutant, before drawing upon his telekinetic abilities, and with a gesture, pull the creature into the air. Igam thrust his staff forward, hurling the mutant into a nearby tree, nearly breaking the thing in half.

"im on it" Adrian replied to Rays order. He now brought the muzzle of the rifle back up and scanned the tree line again waiting for his first target.

As already the furthest person from the pod who was still around the pod, Honoria cheerfully ignored the order to set up a perimeter and kept working on hacking the collapsed tree to more manageable pieces. She noted with interest that the guardsman girl had gone to wake the psyker, but he'd rebounded with remarkable alacrity for one unconscious less than a minute before.

Then a mutant just had to interrupt her work. Annoying pest. Sadly, the white-haired tech-priest couldn't get the axe out in time to rip the thing in two... and that left but one option for killing the thing. Well, one option that wasn't to take a surgical chainsaw to its throat, wherever that might be under this... fatty, lumpy mess.

The smell of burning flesh joined the unpleasant atmosphere, as electricity arced through a mechadendrite claw and into one terribly unfortunate mutant. It collapsed to the floor, twitching for a brief period, as Honoria finally finished cutting through the log and freed the axe. It looked like pest control would be taking priority...

Adrian heard the hiss of electricity and spun to see the tech-priest frying a mutant in a moment more started appearing out of the ridgeline. "targets 6:00!" Adrian yelled as he let his first shot fly the round slamming into a mutants chest and throwing the abomination of its feet as a pink spray enveloped the area. Chambering another round Adrian smirked and muttered to himself " and thus first blood has been drawn"

By the time Gaius had rended the first mutant with his power maul, several others had emerged from the bushes. Grav had lunged into them and was smashing them apart, no longer relying on his weapon. Gaius continued to back toward the camp, keeping his shield up and facing toward the bushes. Another mutant came at him with a sharp, jagged stick, which snapped on his shield. Gaius retaliated with a swipe of his maul, taking the thing's head from it's shoulders. Still more kept coming, with Gaius' shield and maul deflecting and counter-striking respectively. However, even with the Ogryn and the Proctor, some of the mutants were getting past, and into the makeshift crash site/camp. Gaius heard a zap and a shriek, and then the boom of a high-powered rifle as the mutant to his right was blown off it's feet in an eviscerating explosion.

Now that he was in the camp proper, he stopped giving ground to the mutants, and began the righteous task of decimating them with his power maul. On the offensive now, he charged one of the mutants and drove it to the ground with his shield, discharging the shield's shock-plate, and frying the creature. Another approached him, and he hurled his mace at it, landing a blow center mass, throwing the mutant onto it's back. Gaius stood up, leaving his shield on the mutant corpse, and drew his shotgun from it's holster, pumping the action with a deliberately loud noise. If they came any closer, they would get a face full of amputator shot.

Grav hated these mutants. They were fast, weird, and ugly...just like the cultist on that one planet. Maybe they were cultists? That made Grav mad, how could they just refuse the Emperors call? With that in mind Grav redoubled his efforts and threw Daisy at a mutant, completely crushing it. An exceptionally tall one leaped onto Grav and brought its weapons down, the first shattered on his armor but the second found is's way into the gap between the neck guard and the shoulder and lodged it in their.

With a roar of anger more than pain Grav grabbed the offender and squeezed, causing it to shriek in pain as its bones and organs were acquainted with the crushing force of bionic arms. As he did this, two more tried to sneak up on him and occupied as he was, he didn't see them coming.

Trooper Alexis Radclyffe

Orders were orders, Alexis supposed, and so at the Interrogator's command she went over to check on the prone Psyker. No sooner had she reached him, though, had he sprung out of his seat and rushed off. It was almost like he didn't want to be around her... Then again, she got that a lot. Even the Interrogator seemed to want to get rid of her as soon as possible.

Well, she was used to it by now. She'd grown up in a Hive, after all. Even if she was lucky enough to live in the Hive City and not in the Underhive, it was still a harsh place to live, and it seemed like everyone was out to get you. She could count the people who weren't hostile to her on one hand, and even then most of them always seemed kind of on-edge whenever she was around. Alexis had learned to deal with people not liking her no matter what, really.

And then the comms suddenly burst into life, emitting cries from outside about attacking mutants. Well, that just made everything perfect, didn't it? Seperated from her squad, stranded on a backwater planet, and now they were being attacked by some Emperor-forsaken twists. Sure, having grown up in a Hive she was a bit more accepting of them than other members of the group, but from the sound of it they weren't exactly Old Three-Eared Billy from down the hall. Slinging her lasgun over her shoulder and grabbing her flamer, she headed outside to secure the perimeter, as ordered. Soon enough, three mutants had already been incinerated with relative ease as she stoically held the line.

Igam took up a position a little behind the proctor, and drew his las-pistol. He started taking potshots at anything that moved in the forest. He noted with disdain that a number of the shadowy figures were human shaped. "How debased a human life is by associating with mutants" Igam thought as he put a hole through one of the human brigands. The numbers of the foes seemed to be thinning out considerably, thanks to the efforts of the Proctor and the ogryn.

Igam watched as the guardswoman in red hefted a flamer and quickly made short work of several mutants. He shuddered at the thought of her presence, and was secretly happy to see she took up a position distant from himself. Igam turned back around to see a pair of mutants, led by a normal human in metal armor burst from the trees and charge toward the came. Igam was going to leave the trio to either Gaius or Grav, but they both were occupied with assailants of their own. Igam lifted his staff, and slammed it down into the earth, sending a shockwave through the ground, which overtook the three, and the ground swallowed them up.

Adrian was picking his shots carefully choosing only what he deemed the high threat targets. a mutant grabbed the ogryn and appeared to wound it so Adrian focused his efforts there. The ogryn grabbed the monster and crushed it but others were coming and Adrian rapidly worked the bolt on his rifle as mutants erupted in sprays of gore, One after another he shot them directly in the chest his absolution rifle tearing their muscles and breaking their bones.

Psyker action, power maul, a flamer... for a randomly assembled group, they had quite the concentration of firepower. On a feudal world like this, it was highly unlikely that anything could be more than a minor inconvenience as they made their way towards whatever seat of power and technology might happen to be located on its landscape. Though Honoria didn't think it would make dealing with the foolish brigands and mutants any less tiresome.

Speaking of mutants, another was lumbering towards her with malice in its eyes--all eight of them. The enginseer stretched out a hand, concentrated briefly... and lightning shot from palm to beast, like a god striking down a failing worshipper. Another mutant collapsed to a twitching death, finished off by a boot through the head as the muscled female made her way to the outermost edge of the camp.

One mutant got the drop on her--quite literally. It fell from the branch above and, latching on, began beating the tech-priest with scrawny fists. Sadly, it had chosen entirely the wrong priest to attack, as her mechanical insides took absolutely no damage from the pounding. Instead, it set itself up to have its head crushed by a mechanical claw, and the semi-decapitated carcass fell lifelessly to the ground in time to reveal something that could conceivably hurt her, with more sharp claws and spines than she'd ever seen on so little area.

A single pass of her chainaxe separated claws from body, and the electricity crackling along it stunned the creature temporarily. At this point, it was almost guaranteed to bleed out, but why take chances? Another split it at the waist, the two halves sliding and the top bouncing away from the legs. Clearing her robes of all the blood would be annoying, she didn't want them to stain an unrecognisable colour...

Fire.

That was the last thing she could remember.

That, and something about a big bang. Then blackness.
Serah groaned softly as she came round. Even though her vision looked like she was underwater, she could make out the smashed and twisted remains of a lifepod, with daylight streaming through the cracks.

Along with the sounds of combat from outside.

With another groan, she heaved herself to her feet, and looked around for her lasgun, which by now was hidden under a buckled metal plate with only the stock visible.

With a good, solid wrench, Serah freed her weapon from the debris, and, mindful of the fact that she could barely stand, staggered out of the remains of the pod, looking for the source of the problem.
