It all happened so quickly. One moment, the sergeants were barking orders for the troops to form up for disembarkation, the next, chaos. Alarms started blaring, the speakers repeated the same monotone evacuation warnings, the ship was shaking and people were climbing over each other to get in the life pods. On the one hand, you were lucky. You managed to make it onto one of the life pods. On the other hand... you're separated from your unit, dropping onto a planet you know little about with people you know even less and you don't even know what the hell happened. All you know is that you're safe... for now.

Emperor preserve us in the days to come.
So, here's the premise: You are a passenger on the Kestrel of Luggnum, an Imperial troop transport, either a member of the Imperial Guard or a member of an Inquisitor's warparty. The ship suffers critical damage from an unknown source and everyone is forced to evacuate to the life pods. The PCs all end up in the same life pod and it is launched into the unknown. More information will be revealed as the RP progresses, but for now, I want to keep the party in the dark.

Character sheets:

Name/Rank: (Your character's full name and rank, if applicable.)
Age: (I will accept nothing under 18. Minors don't belong in the Guard.)
Gender: (Duh)
Organization: (What groups does your character belong to? If IG, include regiment.)
Appearance: (Pic or paragraph, your choice. Or both if you want.)
History: (At least a paragraph.)
Personality: (Same as above.)
Equipment/Wargear: (List it now or forever hold your peace.)
Skills/Abilities: (Can you speak Ork? Can you drive? Can you perform the rite of percussive maintenance? If you can answer yes to at least one of these, you have skills. Except for the last one.)
Other: (Anything that you want to add that doesn't fit in the other categories.)

Rules and Guidelines

Rules:
#1: Don't be a jerk. Or you will get BLAMMed. Forum rules.
#2: Please have a working knowledge of the 40k universe. If you're already here, than you've most likely already succeeded at this rule. I've seen and been the kinda guy who mucks with 40k canon out of ignorance so it becomes more of a 40k fanfic, and its usually gone wrong. Please don't be that person.
#3: Please post at least 1 paragraph once every two days to keep things going. This is the only rule I am willing to be flexible with, but only if you follow Rule #4.
#4: If for whatever reason (work, personal issue, too many RPs at once, absence, laziness) you cannot meet the 1 post every 2 day requirement, LET ME KNOW ASAP. This is so I know you have an excuse and aren't just leaving and/or so we can work something out.
#5: If for whatever reason (same as above) you do not want to continue in this RP, LET ME KNOW ASAP. Well, not exactly ASAP, but just let me know.
#6: NO SPEEDPOSTING. OR YOU WILL GET BLAMMED. I've seen and been this kinda guy enough times to know its not cool.
#7: No Godmodding, Mary Sue/Marty Stu crap, etc. I WILL call you out on it.
#8: Have fun. That's an order. (Bonus points if you can tell me where this comes from.)
#9: To make sure you all read the rules (the important ones are #2, 3 and 4), I ask that you add the following phrase to your Character Sheets, either at the beginning or the end, it doesn't matter.
Ave Imperator. Morituri te salutant.

Guidelines:
-If you want to include inter-character romance, go ahead. Just keep it PG-13. Forum rules.
-I would like all your characters to be believable/realistic/not ridiculously overpowered. If I think you aren't following this (or breaking rule #7), I'll let you know.
-Feel free to post casual conversation on the OOC. It doesn't have to be 40k related either.
-If you want to bring something to my attention (say I haven’t reviewed your CS yet) you can always PM me. This may be more reliable than the OOC if we're stocking it with open chatter.
-I want this to be a fun RP, so have fun, and try to follow the rules.
+++IMPERIAL RECORDS OF HIS MAJESTEY’S HOLY INQUISITION+++
+++WARNING: CLASSIFIED DOCUMENTS. CLEARANCE INSUFFICIENT FOR FULL RECORDS+++
+++IMPERATOR PROTEGIT+++

Name/Rank: Interrogator Rayvius Skalterion

Age: 36

Gender: Male

Organization: The Inquisition, Ordo Xenos

Appearance:

History: Rayvius Skalterion was born on the world of <REDACTED>. At the age of 14, he was taken to the Mechanichus Seminary of <REDACTED>, though he was ill suited for the life of rules and religious contemplation. He entered <REDACTED>'s world of data hustling and cogitator cracking, and slowly became arguably the planet's best cogitator wizard. In the year <REDACTED>, he was befriended by Inquisitor Henerius Case electronically, seeking assistance in an investigation. After Rayvius rendered aid above and beyond what was required, Inquisitor Case offered him a position in his retinue. Taking to the work, he became Inquisitor Case's Interrogator.

Personality: Ray is an informal person, rarely referring to someone by title, rank or honorific and often applying nicknames to his colleagues; he simply calls his Inquisitor Mentor 'boss.' He generally shows a disregard for the rules, especially the little ones he considers pointless. The reason he hasn't been kicked out of the Inquisition is because he loves what he does and he's damn good at it, and Inquisitor Case appreciates the kind of drive he possess. He enjoys puzzles and will often shut out the rest of the world to solve them. Normally, if he faces an obstacle he cannot overcome, he simply tries harder, though with Inquisitor Case's advice, has learned to step back and take a break, which more often than not, refocuses him on the task. Ray is not much of a fighter, and doesn't relish the idea of taking someone else's life, but he has done it before, and will do so again.

Equipment/Wargear:
Laspistol with 2 extra clips.
Augmentic Eye, implanted (left eye), customized to show data feeds, built in comm-bead.
Mind Impulse Unit, implanted (spine).
Interface Mechadendrite, implanted (left arm).
Inquisitorial electoo (left hand).
Modified Storm Coat.
Flak Armor, custom fitted.
Bodyglove, black.
Portable Cogitator, customized, reinforced environment-proof case.
Lho-stick case with built in lucifer.

Skills/Abilities:
Cogitator Whiz: Rayvius knows cogitators inside and out, how to hack into one and do whatever he wants with it.
Basic Combat Training: Ray has received basic combat, hand-to-hand and firearms training, but is by no means a fighter.
Binary Literate: Rayvius is familiar with the Mechanicus language of Binary. He cannot speak it and he cannot understand spoken Binary, as it is spoken far too fast for unaugmented ears, but he can read and write it, though far, far slower than a true adept.

Other: Ray likes smoking lho, but hates drinking amasec. He also thinks he looks better clean-shaven. He enjoys Holo-dramas and holo-simulations, and has quite a few stored among his personal files on his portable cogitator.
Name/Rank: Inquisitor Henerius Case
Age: <REDACTED>
Gender: Male
Organization: The Inquisition, Ordo Xenos
Appearance:

Few people have met Inquisitor Case in person, including many of his agents. He instead prefers to communicate with then via a series of Servo Skulls.
History: <REDACTED>
Personality: <REDACTED>
Equipment/Wargear: <REDACTED>
Skills/Abilities: <REDACTED>
Other: <REDACTED>

Name/Rank: Proctor Gaius Dantius

Age: 37

Gender: Male

Organization: Adeptas Arbites, Serving under the Inquisition, Ordo Xenos, at the behest of Inquisitor Henerius Case

Appearance:

History: Born on a Hive World to an Enforcer father and a stay-at-home mother, Gaius had a relatively decent childhood, considering where he lived. His father was away for most of his life, serving the Hive City and enforcing the Lex Imperialis. When he was six, his home was raided by a local gang with a vendetta against his father. During the raid, his mother hid him, and was subsequently killed trying to defend him. From his hiding spot, Gaius had a view of the entire grim spectacle. Eventually, the local Enforcers showed up and fought with the gang. Gaius' father was among the Enforcers, and when he saw his wife's body, he went into a fit of rage, slaughtering many of the gang members single-handedly. However, in his blind fury, he was left vulnerable, and was stabbed in the back. As Gaius' father fell to his knees, he cried out the names of his wife and son, and at that moment, Gaius realized that his father would die thinking that he too was dead.

Gaius left his hiding place and ran to his father, catching him as he fell. His father's eyes, already glazed with death, widened slightly. With a smile, his father muttered, "Make The Emperor proud, son. Make me proud."

The Enforcers ended up winning the battle, with the gang's leaders escaping. The Enforcers took Gaius to the local branch of the Schola Progenium, and explained to the Abbots there what had happen. So began Gaius' grueling training to enter the Adeptas Arbites. His father's words echoing constantly in his mind, he soared through his training, soaking up as much knowledge as he could, and hardening his body, willingly receiving any punishment for his failures and mistakes. When he graduated into the ranks of the Adeptas Arbites as an Enforcer like his father, he poured himself into his work, raising steadily higher in rank. By the time he had become a full-fledged Arbitrator, he already had a large record of arrests and sanctioned kills. Working with an Arbites Intelligencer, he uncovered the gang that had killed his parents and burned his home. By this time, almost twenty years later, the gang had recovered from their losses and had become one of the leading underground crime powers in the Hive City.

Gaius was sent in with a strike team of Arbiters to route the leaders of the gang. The strike team's Leading proctor was killed early in the long, grueling engagement, and Gaius himself took up the mantle of leader. The strike team slew the gang's leaders, and bombed their base, with minimal casualties to their own unit, thanks to Gaius' leadership. Gaius was promoted to the rank of Proctor. With his parents avenged, he decided it was time to take the recommended pilgrimage to the Hall of Judgement on Terra.

It was during his study and reflection on Terra that he was contacted by Inquisitor Case, of the Ordo Xenos, and contracted as an Acolyte of the Inquisitor.

Personality: Gaius, as would be expected of an Adeptes Arbites Proctor, is a man who values the laws of the imperium above all else. He has dedicated his life to upholding the Lex Imperialis, the imperial law. He is confident and collected, a result of years meting out the Emperor's Justice. Having served as Judge, Jury, and Executioner for so long has hardened Gaius into a stern, almost robotic warrior. The Arbites teams he has lead into battle have noted that he seems detached, though his record seems to have benefited from this, allowing him to make difficult choices with less emotional stress.

Equipment/Wargear
-Ultima Pattern Arbites Power Maul: The signature melee weapon of the Adeptas Arbites, this Mace-like weapon has two settings. The first is used to stun suspects in order to detain them. The second setting, however, charges the maul's dedicated energy field to lethal quantities, allowing it to sunder steel, flesh, and bone, among other things.

-Vox Legi Pattern Arbites Combat Shotgun: A combat shotgun commonly used by the Arbites, over many worlds. It is designed for both functionality and intimidation. It's large size limits it's ammunition capacity, however. To make up for this, the weapon is designed to work with many different types of ammunition. It was also designed to be used as a bludgeon, should the need arise. Gaius' personal shotgun has engravings on the barrel in high-gothic.

-5 Ignitius Shells: These shells essentially turn the shotgun into a short-burst flamethrower.

-5 Gas rounds: Essentially tear gas

-5 Amputator shells: Filled with explosive micro-shrapnel, these bullets are designed to shear flesh and shatter bone, causing limbs to be blown away. Not very effective on heavily armoured targets.

-Ius Automatic Pistol: An unexceptional, but reliable automatic sidearm.

-Adeptas Arbites Carapace Armour: The legendary fear-inspiring ebon armour of the Adeptas Arbites.

-Bodyglove: Worn under the armour, black.

-Storm coat: Black, with white trim. Worn over armour.

-Hydraphur Pattern Suppression Shield: A large riot shield, equipped with a built-in arc-lumin for blinding enemies, and an integrated shock-plate, for an electrocuted shield-bash.

-Rebreather: Attached to belt when not in use.

Skills/Abilities
-Leadership: As an Arbites Proctor, Gaius is experienced at leading men and women into battle, and he can keep a cool head in the thick of things.

-Adeptas Arbites Combat Training: Having been trained rigorously by his superiors in the Adepta, Gaius is a formidable combatant, both at range and in melee engagements, although he prefers the latter.

Other: If I think of something, I'll put it here later.

Ave Imperator. Morituri te salutant.

Name/Rank: Commissar Maren Klemperer
Age: 28
Gender: Female
Organization: Schola Progenium, Imperial Guard (Harakoni Warhawks)
Appearance:

History: Born on the hive world of Necromunda as an orphan of two Imperial Officers, Maren Klemperer was sent to a Schola Progenium to be raised. She didn't show anything special or different from any of the other students and was pretty much just a normal child. When she graduated from Schola Progenium she was selected to be a commissar. For early career started as her serving under another commissar along with several other junior commissars. For several battles she served under her commissar until she deemed fit for duty and promoted to the rank of a regular commissar.

Maren was placed in infantry platoon, here she found her job as a commissar boring compared to others. Warhawks were a very brave platoon and thus she rarely had to perform executions. Yet this all changed when being force to fight Tyranid invasion. The huge monstrous creatures, endless swarms and lack of air support caused the Warhawks morale to sink and soon there were a several attempts at soldiers abandoning their duty, Maren executed each of these soldiers who left there post. Yet this was all changed when the sisters of battle arrived. Maren was shock to find that soldiers had become fearless in the presence of sisters of battle and that their determination now even rivaled her own. With the assistance of the Sisters of Battle, the Warhawks were able to defeat the Tyranid threat. That being said the Warhakws took heavy casuailities and thus Maren was sent to be transfered.
Personality: Maren is kind of like a storm. Before a battle she is quiet and says little but once the battle starts she begins shouting, barking commands and reciting Imperial prayers. When fighting a powerful opponent she will once again become quiet, giving her full attention to such opponent as if she was in the eye of a storm. Maren like most commissars is pretty strict but also knows when to break the rules though she does trying avoiding to do so.
Equipment/Wargear:
-Plasma Pistol
-Las Pistol (Usually reserved for executions or when her Plasma Pistol starts getting hot)
-Power Sword
-Carapace Armour (Commissar Uniform)
-Refractor Field
-3 Frag Gernades
-3 Krak Gernades
-Basic Toolkit
-Survival Pack

Skills/Abilities:
-Inspiring/Intimidating: Being a Commissar and having led troops several times, Maren is both inspiring and Intimidating. She knows how to keep troops in line.
-Combat Expert: Like other commissars, Maren is highly skilled in both close combat and range combat.
-Basic Driving: Maren has driven a few vehicles and knows the basics of such. She is not an expert but is able to perform basic manoeuvre.
Other: Enjoys the company of battle sisters and has never seen a space marine before.

The main reason I did that was to make sure you read rule #3. I have people posting slowly in other RPs and it holds up the GM from progressing the story, so I'd like that you let me know you're gonna be slow or that you keep up. Besides, I thought it was a cool idea....

By the way, "Ave Imperator. Morituri te salutant." is Latin High Gothic for "Hail Emperor. Those who are about to die salute you." Considering the Grimdarkness of 40k, I thought it appropriate.

Also, the Inquisitor's listed appearance is just that of a Skull Probe. The Inquisitor is not going to make a personal appearance, so his appearance is irrelevant. It has also been redacted.

@Lucian: Accepted once you put up a history.
@Necrosis: Accepted, but your appearance has crapped out, might wanna fix that.

Do you know how hard it was to avoid adding in the single most hilarious piece of archeotech in existence? XD
A legendary archeotech bionic eye pattern that incorporates a tiny las weapon, sacrificing some of the normal abilities of a cybernetic vision implant in order to include this device. Each baleful eye has been passed from recipient to recipient across centuries or millennia, reclaimed by the Machine Cult whenever its present owner dies. As might be imagined, it is very intimidating when used as a part of negotiations with primitive societies. A character with this implant has a weapon equal to a hellpistol in his eye with a range of 10m. The baleful eye can be fired even if the character’s hands are full, and the baleful eye may be used as a pistol in melee. The baleful eye of Sebastian Winterscale is said to have contained a much more potent weapon, but it has been lost for centuries.

"Hmm, you know what we need to make? Laser eyes."

And she has no armour. XD

Name/Rank: Honoria Fortunii, Enginseer.

Age: 43

Gender: Female

Organization: Adeptus Mechanicus

Appearance: Honoria has the normal red robes associated with the priests of the Machine Cult, with one crucial difference: she removed the sleeves for always getting caught in things. What this reveals is that she's surprisingly muscled--and fleshy--from all of this stuff. The muscle combines with a looming 6'6 frame to make her intimidating even before you notice the signs of subdermal machinery... or the mechadendrites. Now, it's possible that she could have found a more normal looking respirator, but one that looks like a toothy, grinning mouth (imagine lots of vertical slats) really does not help the 'friendliness' factor. Surprisingly, Honoria has quite a lot of hair, though it's tied tightly back and generally comes across more as 'it's here and I haven't found a use for my scalp yet'.

All in all, intimidating but looks surprisingly human for an experienced techpriest.

History: Honoria was born, and mostly grew up, on a voidship--this is the origin of her sheer height. However, years then spent on Mars, tinkering with drugs whilst learning surgery, and doing a lot of heavy lifting have overcome the scrawniness of her birth to a fantastically noticeable degree. Though trained as an enginseer, she seems to have a worrying knack for being in places where stuff has gone fantastically wrong, and thus maintains no permanent posting in the long term.
The most notable situation in the long term was a posting with an Imperial Guard force unintentionally disturbing, of all things, a Tomb World. Somehow, this didn't result in a slaughter, but she can't claim to have really taken part: as soon as the combat started, Honoria was all over the foreign weaponry, ignoring the chaos in favour of trying to see how it worked. Sadly, no luck.
It's just typical for the ship to be damaged beyond repair whilst she's on it, really.

Personality: An uncompromising perfectionist: everything must be as good as is achievable. It doesn't matter what it is--surgery, implants, or a single weld on a metal frame--it must be done to exacting standards. This is the sole reason she still looks mostly human at this point: anything less than the most efficient implants takes up too much space and curtails future options, so they're ignored. Anything of sufficient quality is seized with glee. The side effect of not being as utterly impossible to relate with never really occurred to her.
Honoria has a burning passion for rare tech. The problem is, this isn't just Imperium gear and archeotech--she's fascinated by xeno technology as well. This means bad things for her relationship with representatives of the Ecclesiarchy, though it's slightly harder to get at a techpriest for heresy since they aren't even part of the Imperial Cult in the first place.
Naturally, where technology isn't involved, she's considerably less motivated.

Equipment/Wargear:
  • Mechanicus Implants: The very basic stuff, without which you've got a failure of a techpriest. Respirator, Potentia Coil, Electro-Graft, Electoo Inductors, Cyber-Mantle, and cranial circuitry (why yes, I was just reading the RPG books). Aside from the 'screw you, I'm hard to poison' factor, it's all more preparation for the crazier stuff.

  • Luminem Capacitors: Because what you really, really need to be able to do when you spend all your time messing with technology is power it directly. Add on some other bits, and you get Honoria's main armament: shoot lightning from your hand (well, I presume it's the hand, since the parts that enable that run down the arm). Or just electrically charge whatever you happen to be holding.

  • Mechadendrites: One Manipulator Mechadendrite, which... simply grabs things. It has two sets of claws, so it's actually able to hold Honoria to something whilst grabbing something else. Utterly useless for fine manipulation: it's simply heavy lifting gear. The other one, the Medicae Mechadendrite? Good for stopping blood loss, injecting drugs, cutting limbs off, and torture. An all-around excellent surgical tool.

  • Combi-Tool: What sort of Enginseer doesn't have tools? Seriously.

  • Chain Axe: Not as good as those damn power axe/combi-tools that you find magos lugging around all the time, but when worst comes to worst and something is trying to rip your face off, it's always nice to have something to hack back with. And, when not in use, it can be used to prop things up whilst you work on them (assuming all other limbs are occupied). Truly, axes are far more useful than swords for techpriests.

  • Mechanicus Assimilation: The final thing on Honoria's person isn't so much 'on' as 'in'. It is, in the end, the thing that most confirms she's not too weak-willed to replace flesh, since it's hard to say that when something is essentially massive internal replacement. In her case, it's not all that noticeable until you try and cut her open, and find out you're basically trying to hack through machinery. Sheer physical bulk and an obsession with efficiency are good at disguising such things. It also grants the wonderfully useful ability to survive the vacuum of space. Who needs to breathe, anyway?
It also messes wonderfully with psychic mind control. Too much machine, not enough flesh.

Skills/Abilities: Honoria is both an accomplished engineer and a proficient surgeon, though there are certainly better people to operate on you. Not, however, so good at fighting, though high pain tolerance and mechanical organs help out a bit. All-around, she's good for more or less anything you might want to use a techpriest for, but not especially amazing at any one job. Unless, of course, you consider her skill with those capacitors: using them doesn't tire her out noticeably, and she's learned how to use the implants in reverse to charge backwards.
Does possess worryingly heretical knowledge of xenotech, and by extension rather a lot about the wielders.

Ave Imperator. Morituri te salutant. Screw this, I'm a tech-priest.

@Drallinix: Thank you for changing your armor to carapace; I was about to veto the Power Armor. Accepted, though my inner nerd is a little iffy with your character being in the 1st Kronus Liberators and from a Feral World. I was under the Impression that they were made up of Cadian Troops, but nothing I can find actually says so outright, so it could just be my headcanon messing with me.

@Raineh Daze: Accepted, and if it makes you feel better, you can change Imperator to Omnissiah.

Hope this is okay. ^^;

• Name/Rank: Trooper Alexis Radclyffe
• Age: 19
• Gender: Female
• Organization: Imperial Guard (Praetorian Guard 39th)
• Appearance: Rough sketch, but you get the idea. Chestnut hair, brown eyes, fair complexion. She wears the traditional red jacket of the Praetorian Guard, and stands at about 173cm/5'8".

• History: Born on the Hive World of Praetoria, Alexis grew up in abject poverty and squallor. Wishing to get away from the overpopulated, polluted and near-hellish conditions of her homeworld, she signed up for the Imperial Guard as soon as she could.

She is still unsure as to whether this was a good idea or not.

The past year has mostly consisted of her having discipline, combat procedures, weapon maintenance and uniform etiquette (often literally) beaten into her. For reasons she is not quite sure of, it always seemed like her commanding officers had it in for her and were even more willing to issue punishments to her for the most minor infringements than her fellow troopers; then again, she's never gotten along well with anyone, especially authority figures. This isn't solely due to her personality either, as unknown to her Alexis is actually a Blank, a rare type of mutant who possesses no presence in the Warp; to put it in the most simplest terms, she is soulless, and others (especially psykers) treat her with inherent suspicion and fear that they can't really explain.

As she's not been with the Guard for long, Alexis hasn't seen too much combat. The only aliens she has ever came into contact with are the Orks, and she has had no real experience with the forces of Chaos. During the only campaign she has previously been a part of, she was quickly assigned the place of her squad's special weapons trooper; although this was mostly out of the subconscious hopes of those in command that this would lead to her being taken out quicker. Her harsh training served her well, however, as most of her squad came back alive (some worse for wear, but it could have been worse), and have now been assigned to the Kestrel of Luggnum to be sent off to their next combat zone.

• Personality: As a guardsman of Praetoria, Alexis has had iron discipline beaten into her, and does not fear death as she fears what her commanding officers would do to her if she died even more. As such, she is usually very serious and rarely if ever smiles, although this is also partially due to how people have treated her during her life. Despite the best efforts of her superior officers, she still shows a certain disdain for authority figures that stems from being part of a hive gang as a child; whilst she still follows orders dutifully, she will occasionally let slip a sarcastic remark that usually results in a beating for insubordination (she really should know better by now, but...).

• Equipment/Wargear:
•• Standard issue lasgun; after a confusing rant from one of her commanding officers about how you should treat your lasgun like a woman, Alexis has decided to name it "Betsy".
•• Flamer; Alexis was the special weapons trooper for her squad, and as she has only seen combat against Orks, naturally the weapon she was equipped with was a flamer. In addition, she has two extra flasks of promethium to use as fuel.
•• Two combat knives, although one is usually attached to her lasgun as a bayonet.
•• Flak Armour, in the style of the Praetorian Guard; it is kept impeccably clean, as not taking care of one's uniform properly results in a beating.
•• Pith helmet
•• Three frag grenades
•• Three krak grenades

• Skills/Abilities: Aside from standard combat training, Alexis is trained in the usage of special weapons such as flamers, grenade launchers, melta guns and plasma guns, although she is most experienced with flamers. Her most notable ability is one that she herself is not aware of: she is a Blank, a psychic null with no warp presence. Whilst this provides her with great resistance to psychic and warp-based threats (including immunity to all direct psychic effects), as well as weakening anything related to such things in her presence, this comes at the cost of her being seeing as a soulless abomination by others. Her mere presence provokes irrational fear, hatred and hostility from others, the effect being notably stronger from psykers.

• Other: It's in her picture, but... AVE IMPERATOR, MORITURI TE SALUTANT! *clicks heels together and salutes*

EDIT: Almost forgot to mention, but let's just say I'm not exactly the paragon of physical health so there might be times when I'm not capable of posting. I apologize in advance for that.
