Eisenhorn Inquisitor of some Note

Member Seen 10 hrs ago

It is the 41st Millenium, and there is only War.

The God Emperor sits upon the Golden Throne, as his armies march forward to defeat the enemies of Man. From the numberless Imperial Guard, where a hundred thousand dead is meaningless so long as victory is claimed, to the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines that provide the tip of the spear for the Imperium of Man. But their deeds and tales, many times, pale in comparison to those of the Inquisition, the hidden heroes of the Imperium of Man. These hidden enforcers of the Imperial rule, from the hunters of the Xenos to those that purge the Heretic and deal swift defeat to the Daemons that invade the real space. Such agents are varied in origin and creed, and just as varied, if not more so, are those that are sworn to follow them.

Loyal men and women from all walks of life can find themselves within the employ of an Inquisitor in a heartbeat. From the lowliest Guardsmen to the most illustrious Adeptus Arbites enforcer of the law, and most men and women in between, the retinue of an Inquisitor defines the methods and resources available to the Inquisitor. For a well equipped, loyal retinue indicates a well to do Inquisitor, while poor equipment or renegade thoughts indicate far darker methods are employed. Some Inquisitors that have no qualms with employing more radical means can find the likes of Xenos and chaos corrupted tools and weapons within their armaments and Retinue, all for the Emperor in their defense, although far too many are corrupted by their own means. But such varied Retinues, and so many varied Inquisitors, methods, and ideologies, that there is no feasable means to control how Inquisitors act, assuming they would allow such a burden and restriction to be placed upon them.

A more recent note of a Retinue defining the Inquisitor, in his later years, is that of Inquisitor Lord Xersus, of the Ordo Malleus, banisher of daemons and bane of the heretical, acted far more through his Retinue in his later years, as his reputation grew and would often preceed him, while his retinue would be faceless and often nameless in records and prior annals of history. So it would be this band of peculiar characters, warriors, and specialists that would define the later years of the operations and procedures of the Inquisitor Lord Xersus, and from this, we have the records and annals that are presented here today. A tale that is not released outside the Inquisition, but should be known to other members, as to never underestimate what a well prepared Retinue can accomplish.

Alright, so each player will be taking the part of a member of Inquisitor Lord Xersus personal Retinue, member of the Ordo Malleus, the Daemonhunters. I have a few brief rules to cover before the CS, I'll keep it brief!

Rules:
1. Each character is going to be tough, powerful, experienced, and so on and so forth, each in their own right. This does not make them unstoppable, or indestructible. Characters CAN die, this is Warhammer 40,000, after all. Keep that in mind.

2. Metagaming, god modding, controlling other players characters, the usual stuff is not cool, to say the least.

3. I try to be pretty relaxed and lenient about stuff, so if you have ideas or concerns, do bring them up. I also want folks to try and be nice, or at least civil, with each other when OOC. IC, I don't expect people to get along, but try and keep OOC drama and stuff down.

4. Try and have fun, I don't want this to devolve into some chore that no one wants to really continue, fair enough?

Alright, CS Time!

Since warhammer is a very vast universe with multiple ways to blow up planets, I'll ask the easier question. What isn't allowed?

Honestly? I'll knock some obvious ones off right away. No Necrons or Tyranids, for obvious reasons most likely.

Beyond that? Dark Eldar would not have any real reason to aid a human, so they are out unless a really, really good case can be made for em. Daemons and the like wouldn't be really welcome, not in the retinue of an Ordo Malleus inquisitor that gets as much attention as he does. Beyond that, I try and take things on a case by case basis.

Name: Anna Cassius

Gender: Female

Age: 37

Equipment:
-Hellrifle
-Inferno Pistol
-Truename Staff
-Inquisitorial Power Armor
-Grimoire of True Names
-Ungents of Warding
-Archimedes, the Psyber-Raven

Personality: Anna is, in the basest of terms, a thug. She takes great joy in exercising any and all Inquistorial power on anyone, be they a lowly citizen on a hive world or an Astartes Marine. When men do not comply with her decisions, she delights in beating them senseless, or even shooting them on occasion to serve as a warning to the others. She is crude and crass, nothing what one would expect out of an Inquisitor.

History: Born in the lower levels of one of the many hive worlds, Anna was an inconspicuous child, for the most part. Though, the other children, and even the adults, always felt odd around her. Like there was something wrong with her, even though none could see any problems. This lead to a mostly isolated childhood, especially once her parents died. Should've just payed their protection money, the orphanage said as they turned the little girl onto the streets. Well, not particularly little. Anna was into her teen years when this happened.

So, to make ends meet, she turned to crime, like so many on the hive worlds did. 'Course, she didn't do anything stupid, like try to shoot out on her own or anything like that. She worked for one of the lesser known gangs as a collector. The small, unimposing figure of a girl might not have intimidated many, but the sadistic smile and the old pistol to the throat often has people ready to pay up any time she came knocking on their doors. As she grew older, she grew more daring, and talk circulated around the hive world about that odd girl Cassius, who unnerved even the hardiest of the men on the planet just by standing around.

Wasn't long until she was caught by a group of Inquisitors. Talk of a strange person often caught their attention. Though, after weeks of testing, interrogation, and a bit of torture, they discovered at she was not Chaos corrupted like that had originally thought; no, no she was much more dangerous, by some standards. The Pariah gene was strong in her, and the Inquisition planned to use it accordingly. Not by sending her off to be some assassin, that would be a waste, especially at her age. Her role in the Imperium would be far greater as a weapon directly in the hands of the Inquisition.

The Ordo Malleus took care of her, treated her of the wounds inflicted by the Hereticus. She acquired a distaste for that particular Ordo afterwards. The Malleus put her through her training, both in melee and ranged combat. It was quickly learned that she preferred rifles above all else, and so they began to specialize her in sniper training. Her first few missions went off without a hitch, and as the weeks turned into months, and those into years, she became more experienced, more deadly, and oh-so much more sadistic in how she dealt with daemons and cultists.

Some would call her radical, in what she did. Being entrusted with a Truename Staff and a Hellrifle, two items that were near polar opposites, meant that she was someone of great importance, though her rank as a lowly Interrogator would hardly attest to that. None would believe that she aided in the daemonic possession of dozens of captured cultists, or had conversations through other radicals with the daemons that could not see her. Invisible to the daemons, and so deadly to them it was like they were drinking poison by breathing the air she contaminated. But she learned much from them, and when she was done, she would kill the possessed and on more than one occasion turn in the radical who possessed them for a bit more privilege in the Inquisition.

Though, with her new assignment to the retinue of Inquisitor ____, she has had a hard time learning anything new. Her fellows in the retinue would likely not appreciate her efforts like others she knew, others higher up than her on the food chain, and so she keeps a lower profile than what she would. Though, it is obvious that she takes great delight in watching the psykers squirm when they get into her aura.

Name: Narr Nirien

Gender: Male

Race: Eldar

Affiliation: Harlequin

Age: When asked his age, Narr has responded with answers varying from "At least one of your lifetimes." to "You couldn't count high enough." In truth, he is somewhere around four centuries old.

Equipment:
-Anti-Grav "Flip" Belt: Used to perform dizzying acrobatic maneuvers on the battlefield. This augments Narr's already impressive acrobatic abilities, and paired with his speed and Holo-Field, makes him a swift moving blur on the battlefield.

Holo-Field generator: A sophisticated substitute for armour. When activated, whenever Narr moves, his image is shattered into a holographically-projected cloud of crystal shards that dance and swirl around with vigour proportional to the speed that the Harlequin is moving. This makes him extremely difficult to hit, and adds to the confusion he sows on the battlefield.

-Custom Storm Glove: Worn on the left hand, this weapon turns Narr's left hand into a bladed power weapon, with claws extending from each finger.

-Witchblade: Narr's witchblade is personalized in appearance, though unremarkable in ability. Like other Witchblades, it serves as a focus for his psychic energy.

-Psychic attacks: Most commonly in the form of streams of electricity or telekinetic throws and lifts. Though not technically equipment, these abilities are weapons in and of themselves.

Personality: Light-hearted, mischievious, and a bit sarcastic, Narr is a stark contrast to what you'd expect in an Eldar, the product of his role as a Harlequin Trouper. He is optimistic and happy-go-lucky, stemming from his faith in the Laughing God. Understandably, he is frequently seen as annoying by some of the Inquisitor's other allies, but this doesn't phase him at all. Occasionally, his light-hearted demeanor is broken by a streak of prophecy or the imparting of necessary wisdom.

History: Not much is known of Narr's history before he 'joined' the Inquisitor's group (more accurately, he shadowed them until he could prove himself useful.) What he has revealed is that helping the Inquisitor is of high importance to his people. He has stated before that the Inquisitor will prove an instrumental person in the fight against The Great Enemy, though, how he knows this, and how accurate this is, is a matter of speculation. Since his first meeting with the Inquisitor, however, he has been in near-constant contact with the group, leaving for a few solar days at a time, and showing back up, often just in time to join in on some action. In reality, he delivers updates to his Troupe Master, but he hasn't revealed this to the Inquisitor or his other allies for fear that they will grow suspicious, as humans are want to do.

Position in Retinue: Advisor, Liaison with the Eldar when the occasion calls for it (Narr has proven useful in stopping Eldar Corsairs from causing trouble for the Inquisitor on more than one occasion,) and of course, a close-quarters combat expert, as well as an experienced psyker.

I'll expand his history a bit if you want. Just wanted to get some stuff down.

Brother-Librarian Nyxos
Male Grey Knights Librarian

Age: 296
Height: 7' 9" out of armour, nine-and-a-half-foot-ish with it.
Position in Retinue: Psyker, adviser on all things Psyker or Daemon, Grey Knights liaison.

Personality: Deep-feeling and soulful, Nyxos has a power behind his emotions few can match. When he is jovial, he is the life of the party, but when he is angry, his fury overshadows all else. He is generally amiable and boisterous, but threatening his friends, the Imperium or being a Daemon (or in league with one) is a sure way to earn his ire.

Equipment: Terminator armour, custom Nemesis force sword (tailored grip, balance; improved Psychic conductivity - may be used to channel any and all psychic powers.)

Psychic Powers: Nyxos is a very powerful, yet unorthodox Psyker, part of the reason why he was assigned here instead of among the Grey Knights. He wields his powers through emotion, making him at once more susceptible to corruption, with anger, bloodlust and pain, yet also resistant to it, with love, righteousness, and the desire to protect. He often sinks into what he refers to as 'the Flow', some form of semi-precognitive trance combined with physical enhancement, turning him into a whirlwing of flashing blade and psychic might.

Appearance:

History: Taken by the Black Ships at just one and a half years of age thanks to his powerful psychic signature, Nyxos was raised in the Emperor's faith. When the time came, he was selected by the Grey Knights. He completed his augmentation in record time, powers speeding his recovery from each surgery, and threw himself into his training. He has always walked a knife-edge, fuelling his powers with emotions, and many have argued for his destruction as a risk, but his near three centuries of exemplary service have quashed all but his most vocal of detractors, and even then, they only managed to get him sent out on Inquisitorial assignment, hoping he'd be killed...

Mind if I make another psyker?

Name: Sten Revna

Gender: Male

Age: 35

Appearance:

Equipment:
Standard Imperial Guard Flak Armor
Force staff
Laspistol, two extra clips
Psy focus (Imperial Guard ID tags, charred beyond recognition)
Lho-stick case.
Psykana Temple robes
Psychic cowl (the implants on the back of his head, a more primitive version of a psychic hood)

Personality: Sten was once very outgoing and friendly, but the discovery of his psyker talents has changed him. He is now deadly serious and rarely smiles. He enjoys lho sticks and will smoke them when he is concerned or uneasy, saying that it helps focus and relax his mind. When in battle, he is often filled with rage, which fuels his psychic techniques, though the source of his anger is primarily self-loathing. He is, at his core, ashamed of his psychic talents and is burdened by guilt.

History: Sten and his brother joined the Imperial Guard together when they turned 18 and served in the 27th Kaviskr Shock Troopers. Sten was promoted to Sergeant for his ability to quickly grasp a situation. He and his brother served in the same squad. No one seemed to question that their sergeant's hunches were often right, but when his hunches became more and more eerily accurate, they bean to worry, especially his brother. No one knows exactly what happened, but one day, a freak firestorm engulfed Sten's entire squad. He miraculously crawled out unharmed, and surrendered himself as a psyker. He soon found himself in the employ of the Inquisition due to his uncommon level of psychic control and his powerful abilities.

Position in Retinue: Sten is adept at precognition techniques, such as reading the Emperor's Tarot, and is a potent Pyrokine. Also, as a former Gunnery Sergeant, he knows his munitions and wargear, and serves a secondary role as armorer.

Psychic Abilities: Sten is able to predict the future, though only with a great deal of focus and concentration, and usually only through vague symbolism. He also possesses potent pyrokinetic powers, often turning himself into a walking firestorm during combat. His psyker abilities have been classified as Beta Level.

She is hard to budge when she has made up her mind though she can be open minded at times. She has known many radical inquisitors and known that their works have brought some success to the Imperium.
