Heh, yeah, I had that same thought... Can't slit a throat through power armor, nor would a thrown knife be anything more than a momentary distraction.

In every piece of armor, there are always opening points and its usually the neck. A knife can hit the opening point and cause instant death. He would usually hit the jugular. He could have killed a power armor guard.

Plus with the mass population of women in London, i'm not sure the royal family would be able to send power armour guards to every impreganation. :P

Hmm he's also experienced with knives. Maybe he could help Annabelle brush up on her own knife skills at some point :)

I promise you, Wiki, unless you've got a Protonic Axe or a Ripper or something, you aren't going to be able to slit a power armored soldier's throat. It just ain't happening (as long as they're wearing the helmet).

If an obvious target like the throat wasn't protected at least enough to repel knives, the armor wouldn't have made it past testing. In a nutshell, it's designed to protect the wearer in every possible combat situation, including close combat, meaning knives =/= instant death. Not even close. In fact, looking at the image Sep used for the Royal Knight's power armour, the shoulders and back of the armor are designed such that the only way to target the soldier's neck with a melee weapon is to come at them head-on AND at an awkward angle (i.e. you die)...

There's a reason why it's so impressive, and so feared on the battlefield, you know. The best method to kill them, in my opinion, is to trick them into removing their helmets first, as otherwise there's pretty much no hope (except maybe C4 or other very powerful explosives). Read the story of Maxson II (the second leader of the Brotherhood of Steel) for a good example.

There weren't any power guards at the impreganation attempt of his sister. Plus its true you can't slit the throat of them but you can stab the neck.

The helmet and the body armor are not connected (duh because how would they get in it otherwise :P), so the are small openings in the neck that a knife can easily get through.

I'm not saying that Power Guards are easy to kill but you can stab the neck with a knife. Of course due to their size and strength, it'd be a challenge but possible.

There aren't any "openings" at all, the suit and helmet together are sealed against the outside world (which is why the armor grants a resistance to radiation). The helmet locks into the armor, and the neck is protected. In fact, this Royal armour is actually something of an odd duck compared to the major armors over in America (meaning the T51-b and Enclave Advanced armors), as those lock in so seamlessly there's nothing but an impenetrable crease. And, stabbed in the neck =/= severed jugular or instant death, especially with the protection that I've just explained.

Look, all I'm trying to say here is, if Adrian attempts to use a knife to kill a fully armored Knight, he's not going to succeed. He's going to need better tactics than that.

I had a closer look at the armor and you may be right. The neck is probably protected but not EVERY single piece of the body is covered by the suit. There are a couple weak points that a knife can easily penetrate. The armpits and the small opening by the groin.

Yes they do have a large resistance to radiation but that doesn't mean they are fully protected from it. Every single piece of armor has a weakness.

The armpits would be probably be done from behind in a sneak attack and the groin would probably be a lucky shot.

My point is, a knife can kill a power armor guard. You don't need a massive weapon to do so.

Alright, then I agree. There are points of articulation, like the armpit, that could be targeted with a knife. It wouldn't be easy, as you keep claiming, but it is indeed possible. If you stab them in the armpit, it could even make them drop their weapon... But it still wouldn't kill them outright. I mean, not unless you had a magic knife that could bend around to target the middle of a torso while stabbing up into the armpit. You'd still need to unseal and unlock the helmet, take it off, and THEN kill them before they managed to raise an alarm... Which, in 99 combat situations out of 100, means you're dead, because of a handy thing called in-suit radio.

But, anyway, with the right tactics and enough luck, sure. I'm not saying they're absolutely unbeatable... But they're pretty fucking unbeatable.

You'd need to be part of a much larger operation, with enough cannon fodder to distract the guards while you sneak up on them, and by that point, is it really worth it? Even though in a hypothetical situation a single guard in power armour could be killed by a very lucky resistance fighter with a knife, it would require the sacrifice of so many other resources that it's unwise at best and suicidal at worst. We need to be smarter than that, if were going to beat these motherfuckers.

EDIT: Basically, we shouldn't see engaging the forces of the Monarchy armed with knives as a viable long-term option.

LOL. I'm not saying that killing them with a knife is the plan (it'd be funny though XD, picture a madman running towards the gates of Buckingham palace with only a hatchet only to be shot down by the power Armour guards as soon as he was in sight and then the Resistance leader in the distance going "What's plan B?" XD XD) All I'm saying is that it's possible to kill one with a knife and yes, you'd have to be lucky but it is possible.

x.x You'd have to be so lucky, or so smart, that it's basically impossible. For one thing, they're never going to be alone, especially not if they're guarding someone or something...

Obviously, the best overall tactics for the resistance are going to involve hit-and-run attacks, the avoidance of Knights and Elite Guards altogether, lots of explosives, key assassinations, incitement of mass uprising and lots of fantabulous SCIENCE!, but we can leave those discussions to the IC.

EDIT: What we need, in all honesty, is to capture some Anti-Materiel rifles, or find some out in the Wasteland. Those are just about the only thing (apart from EMP weapons and high explosives) that would be effective against armor that powerful.

Let's take a page out of old Guy Fawke's book and blow up Buckingham Palace! :D

Nah I kid. We'll discuss tactics in the IP as our characters meet up to make a plan.

Remember remember the Fifth of November, the gunpower, treason and plot. I see no reason why gunpowder treason should ever be forgot...

He had a point with the whole probably no Knights there. Just regular guards. Probably would of had to deal with higher up guards if he went to somewhere "official" instead off to his little warehouse in the suburbs.

Anyway, I'll wait for Imperfectionist and Chapatrap then I suppose we can start.

Don't wait for me, Sep. My characters in the works, but I hate being the reason why a game doesn't start. Get things going whenever you're ready, and I'll catch up. My character will be separated from the others at first, anyway, so she can come in at any time.

:/ Hide yourselves? I thought we already determined that women would be a significant part of the fighting force.
