At the very least I'm pretty sire it's frowned upon to use deadly force in a crowded room on one annoying bird. If my post seemed like an underreaction to you, yours seems like a massiylve overreaction.

Well, the GM had some kind of intention for the bird. He emphasized it with the character that sent the bird. Also, all of the characters have their Raiments. The Raiments are projected around age nine and all of the characters are anywhere between 15-20.

It's not like I didn't give Lion a chance with the bird, and unlike the way I did it that post completely invalidated my own. It's usually considered bad etiquette to "ruin" someone's post, as he put it, without even discussing it before hand. I'll let it go this time, but if it happens again I'm going to get angry.

Hm, for confirmation...is a Raiment capable of being more than one object, as long as it is part of a 'set'? Like, I don't know, a Raiment that's a sword-and-shield combo, or a Raiment that's made of two identical axes (dual axe DPS 2 OP)?

And are there any size restrictions as well? Has there ever been a Raiment that, say, took the form of a seige weapon, such as a ballista or trebuchet? Also, is a Raiment something that is 'summoned' whenever convenient, or something that's initially manifested, before being dragged around as a solid object forevar?

A raiment is an extention of your character, so it could concievably be anything. I'm assuming a set is alright, since we have a bow and arrows, but keep in mind it has to be portable.

Easy there, champ! I read the sane thing you did and nobody was invalidated. I'm paraphrasing his words but, "As the bird was settling on the boy's arm, he spooked it." So I imagine just as you were to release it, that other guy spooked it just before the bird took off for outside.

So no need to go to the mattresses.

It settled on his arm halfway through my post. Everything after that assumed the bird DIDN'T freak out, claw the shit out of his arm and take flight again.

You still seem upset about it.

How observant. Nothing against you, this is just the one thing I can't stand in Roleplays. I see no point in even playing things if anyone can just ignore what you did and make up their own events.(

Well, lets all just chill out and let it go then. You probably shouldn't have tried to catch the bird immediately after it was let loose and before anyone else had a chance to react, so lets call it even and carry on. :)

Whatever, just don't do it again and there's no problem.

There's no real winner here, chukklehed threw up a skill after the roleplay had started with no real explanation beyond "I want to be able to control this NPC pet clearly sent here to wreak havoc" and he's acting like someone shat in his bed because he didn't get to have his badass bird whisperer exit, while Gisk mostly ignored another player's post and just made the entire thing devolve into an exagerated clusterfuck of trained defenders of the realm trying to murder a stupid bird via magic implements. Might just be my tabletop experience speaking, but perhaps a rule stating only the GM controls NPC reactions would be best? Means some more work for the GM but avoids situations like these.

Just my two cents about the issue before this thing spirals out of control. I think Gisk did what he did because he felt that your actions were not an adequate solution to the problem and that the outcome was unrealistic; I don't think he was simply trying to undermine your characters actions. With that said, I'm no falconer (and neither is Minato according to his profile), but I think it would be awfully difficult to instantly tame a trained bird that has been sent with the explicit purpose to cause destruction. So I would think that even if Minato momentarily calmed it, it would go back to its mayhem the second he released it. So, I think you should try to understand where Gist is coming from, and perhaps in the future Gist can drop a comment in the OOC and ask you to edit the post instead of taking things entirely in his own hands.

Now just a fun fact: unless your wearing protective gear, a hawk will claw the shit out of your arm regardless of whether it's angry or not. Hell even an owl will. Raptors are just badass like that.

Excuse me? Why is there always one person at the end of an argument who decides "this didn't go on long enough, I'm going to insult both sides and propose an unworkable solution. "

Thank you. You covered my thoughts exactly.

Let's just move on and call it a neutral play. No gains; no loses.

Unworkable solution, yes, clearly that is why it's a mechanic employed in more or less every roleplaying game since the very first D&D. Not like it's generally considered good etiquette to let the GM handle the world and its reactions while the players focus on their characters precisely to avoid clusterfucks like these. Definitely unworkable idea, especially given time to think out how things go instead of having to pull up reactions at the drop of a hat.

I don't support what Gisk did, I think he fucked up, but I definitely agree that your sudden taming of an NPC-trained falcon with no explanation beyond "I think it's cool so I'm adding this skill to my bio right now" in the OOC was a copout, as was completely undoing the situation and trying to have a cool exit before anyone did anything. If you were insulted by my word choice then hey, I apologize, not the point there. Point being mostly "mistakes were made".

Let's all just take it as an important lesson learned early on and move on with what could be a very fun role play.

Ooooooh boy. First of all, my falcon, hands off. Same goes with all NPCs. I kinda figured that was assumed. Secondly, I'm fine with the addition of skills so long as they make sense and aren't added in the heat of a situation because you really want to do something. That's not really fair and defeats the point of having listed skills to begin with. Thirdly, give people a chance to react to a situation, if the first person who posts can just do away with any given conflict what are the others supposed to post about? Also never make an assumption something works, especially against a PC or NPC unless you introduce them. It makes it really difficult for me, who does have a purpose for that falcon, to get her in the position to do her job.

Now, mistakes were made, hopefully we've all learned. Now let us move on and have a good time. I'll get a post up later tonight, I'm in a bit of a rush.

Requoting, cause it'd be nice if there was a GM answer to this as well.

Oh! I'm so sorry I forgot about that! Chukkle was right in that a Raiment is an ideal weapon for the individual knight, so yes a set is fine. There are no size restrictions per se, a Raiment that is a siege weapon has never before been projected however weapons with similar capabilities have. For instance a magic bow that fires astral arrows with a great many properties, one of which being the ability to explode on impact.

And no you cannot just summon your Raiment out of thin air, you manifest it and then it's yours to drag around forever. However there is an incredibly advanced Magistra that has that effect. Though as far as I know the only people who have mastered said Magistra are on the Council.
