The power level of Genin, when roleplaying, is typically higher than that of the canon because it's typically easier to feel valuable and engage in satisfying exchanges when you have /some/ power under your belt. There's usually a greater divide than that, though, because having more power makes you more able to do things with the character. There are a few who enjoy the feeling of starting quite literally from scratch, but those people tend to be far and few between.

You know... I wanted to be nice and try giving Tuuj and Innue another chance. But they both brought in super-bullshit characters (as they always do) and I just can't. I could have even dealt with the overpowered Genin, because I'd simply treat them as higher-ranking Ninja. But those two are out of control with their characters and have no excuse for it other than "Fuck you, we're fabulous. Deal with it." or some other innane garbage. I REALLY wanted to join this, and it pains me somewhat to say... but I'm out. My apologies to the GM and to Durn (who seemed moderately friendly, if not eager for me to join). in the show, genin can be pretty powerful, look at Rock Lee, Neji and Sasuke. genin really is just a rank and doesn't always mean weaker than a chunin, some genin can learn really fast when it comes to some techniques.

You are comparing genius character's with characters with pretty usual/typical bios and assuming that they are all geniuses. That's unrealistic.Saying "My character learned the techniques at a young age" is only reasonable to a degree. I can't exactly talk, having a Genin with an extremely high level technique myself, but even Genin from powerful, prestigious clans start off fairly ordinary. They aren't using Jonin level techniques just because. Which is the case here. It still takes many years of training, practical experience, and keen intellect to utilize techniques like the Yin Healing technique, which is something even Tsunade was surprised about. It's like being a doctor, 10 years of schooling, simply because you were "trained at a young age" thus at 15 years old you can perform open heart surgery.
