Anyone artistic? Based on my description of the town, I wonder if anyone could draw a map! lolCan we just call it something to do with the family name? Such as Pete's Place (That's an example.. I don't know what her dad's name is) so that if we are referencing it, we can call it the name and not the restaurant, unless you want to call it "The Restaurant." lol

Their project is to test the quality of the water around Mako Island to write a report on their findings, and make a presentation, give it in front of the rest of the class; explain what people can do to keep the water clean and animal, plant life healthy. Don't worry, we are not going to write out the report/presentation. We can gloss over that part since I know you do not want to do school work for real.

Haha The school requires they take ES because the town is really into keeping their home clean and teaching their children how to continue to do so. Okay so the islanders are tree huggers.

Mako Island's History

Mako Island was formed after a comet crashed into the Earth. We know that one of the shards impacted near Ireland (Eire) forming the Sea Caves of Ireland. So other shards may have landed in other locations creating moon pools wherever they impacted. It is possible that these other moon pools could have also created mermaids all over the Earth in other places and other times. Mako Island has a magical sea cave at its base leading to the Moon Pool where our characters get their mermaid powers. There is also a secondary cave leading to a waterfall outside. The waterfall is part of a stream running through a mangrove forest. Mako Island has been around long before humans walked the earth and it will still be around long after humans have gone. Around Mako there are the largest population of Mako sharks and sea turtles, some of which cannot be found anywhere else on earth.

Off-shore there are coral reef sands and a number of wrecks. On the northern side of the island there is a place called Triton's Reef, its a known as place where sharks breed. Throughout history, there have been peculiar happenings around Mako, such as a whirlpool and numerous ship wrecks and disappearances, giving Mako an eerie reputation.

Moon Pool-

The Moon Pool is a special, supernatural pool with the power to transform normal people into merpeople when the Full Moon passes over the top of the cave.

There are currently two known Moon Pools: one on Mako Island in [Our Island Town] and another in a Sea Caves of Ireland in Ireland.

These places were formed on Earth after collisions with a comet containing Moon Rocks and Crystal that generate special powers corresponding to the Moon.

History

The Moon Pool's magic is active only during a full moon. During this time, any human who jumps into the pool when the moon passes over, will be turned into a mermaid or merman, and given special individual powers. The Moon and the Pool generate different magnetism and effects depending on the moon's phases and the planetary alignments. When nearing collision with a comet, the pool's temperature will rise in preparation for it.

Mermaids with the power of fire: Your base power is just to be able to heat any source of water, or boil it. It can be used to raise a body temp as well.

As your power grows,
create, shape and manipulate fire, the rapid oxidation of a material in the exothermic chemical process of combustion, releasing heat, light, and various reaction products, flame being the visible portion of the fire. Depending on the substances alight, and any impurities outside, the color of the flame and the fire's intensity will be different.
Create/Generate/increase, absorb, shape and manipulate fire.

Mermaid with Air: User can create, shape and manipulate air, common name given to the layer of atmospheric gases and various compounds (mostly oxygen and nitrogen) surrounding the planet Earth that is retained by Earth's gravity, and wind, movement of air relative to the surface of the planet. As it grows,

Create/generate/increase, shape and manipulate air and all forms of wind from tornadoes, hurricanes, vertical drafts, micro-bursts and other devastating forms of wind. Naturally can also create any less extreme air/wind movement.
Air Attacks
Air Solidification, Density Manipulation, and Pressure Manipulation via controlling air molecules.

They can only learn upgraded powers by being in the Moon Pool during another full moon (and they do not know this fact until it happens)

The Full Moon-

After they've been turned, the full moon will cause unexpected phenomenal effects on them, which is different every month due to planetary alignments.

A full moon has very strange effects on the mermaids. It seems that not only does the full moon give them an opposite take on their original personalities, but makes them quite romantic and seductive.(which can be explored later on in the role play when we decide what to do for the romance element)

These effects only last for as long as the full moon is in the sky. During a full moon, the moon pool on Mako Island sometimes protects the girls from the moon's strange effects. The girls usually don't always remember what happened to them when they were under the influence of the full moon.

Only certain full moons will upgrade their powers (not every single one. It depends on a lot of special timing with the planets alignments)

Other powers they have:

Speed swimming: It allows all merpeople to swim at the speed of 600 km/h. Their body is encased in bubbles and use it as a jet stream to swim faster.

(It's never been mentioned, but I think they should be able to communicate with aquatic life, mainly whales and dolphins. *shrugs* At least more so than a normal human can.)

Powers they can all learn (eventually) without an upgrade from the moon pool: (They're just natural powers mermaids should be able to learn)

Telekinesis
It is the ability to move objects and people with the mind, often in ways not visible to the naked eye.

Invisibility
Can be used while in mermaid or human form, but does not last very long. Can also be used to make anything the mermaid is touching invisible, including people.

Volume Reduction
Volume Reduction is the ability to shrink objects. (Can also un-shrink objects) [There was an episode in Mako Mermaid's where the mermaids used this power to manipulate someone's vocal cords, shrinking them, changing them until the person sang on perfect pitch.]

Also when you get wet, you have 10 seconds to dry off or you will turn into a mermaid.

I think Rikki and Cleo had moments where they were talking to animals as if they could understand them, or am I mistaken?

I'm going to make up a name for the island they live on xDD

We don't have to keep to that strict posting order all the time. But 2 people need to post before you can post again. Just don't leave someone too far behind. Say someone else is in a different timezone. 3 of us might post a couple times, but we should not post 20 pages and leave the last person way behind.
