Tyranids are from a another universe entirely but little is actually known about them(that's why history is so empty). It is a popular belief that they have already consumed their own Universe.

Name of nation: The TyranidsSpecies: Tyranid GenusDescription of government: There isn't one unless the Ultimate control of the Hive Mind is a GovernmentDescription of military: The Tyranids are an extragalactic composite species of hideous xenos that is actually a space-faring ecosystem comprised of innumerable different bioforms which are all variations on the same genetic theme. The Tyranid race is ultimately dedicated solely to its own survival, propagation and evolutionary advancement. The Tyranids collectively form a monstrous superorganism that travels across the universe in their great Hive Fleets of biomechanical Hive Ships, systematically consuming all other biomatter to enable its own rapid evolution and reproduction. All Tyranid organisms are synaptic (psychically-reactive), and each Tyranid creature within a Hive Fleet shares and contributes to a communal Hive Mind, which allows the trillions of beings comprising the Tyranid Hive Fleets to communicate and organise instantaneously on a staggering scale. The mentality of the Tyranid approach to warfare can be described with the phrase "quantity has a quality all its own". From the "lowly" Ripper, to the deadly Hive Tyrant and beyond, the signature of the Tyranid species is that they overwhelm their foes with sheer numbers, reproducing massive numbers of highly virulent organisms in record time from the biochemical soup that they derive from the biospheres of the worlds that they consume. The components of a Tyranid Hive Fleet travel almost exclusively in large groups known as swarms that possess specialized biomechanical creatures for destroying and consuming a wide variety of prey life forms. Tyranids have evolved sophisticated methods for facilitating genetic transfer across species boundaries. As a result, a significant goal of any Tyranid invasion is acquisition of useful new biological traits from other lifeforms. These are used by the Hive Mind to enhance the Tyranids' effectiveness in consuming new worlds to gain more of the necessary organic raw materials for further reproduction. All Tyranids are reproduced by a single, highly intelligent female bioform known as a Norn-Queen. A Hive Fleet's Norn-Queens are the most important Tyranids within the fleet, for if they are injured or killed the Tyranids cannot reproduce their numbers from the captured bio-mass. As a result, Norn-Queens can be found only at the heart of the largest and most-well defended Tyranid Hive Ships. History: The Tyranids first appeared over the distant Planetary outpost of Tyran thus gaining their name. The Tyranids. The current Hive Fleet is Hive Fleet Chimera a seemingly more advanced fleet actually making contact rather than only destroying everything. Other (Culture and the like): Tyranids fleets have an effect on Warp Travel and communication. If this effect works on other forms of FTL and communication remains to be scene.Once a new race is consumed Tyranids will incorporate useful DNA from said species into further evolving themselves. The Hive Mind controls all aspects of the Tyranids. The Hive Mind is an incredibly powerful Psychic Entity that does not exist in the physical plain. As a result Tyranids cannot be mind controlled in any way. If an attempt is made at reading or controlling a Tyranid it is likely the Hive Mind would actually take control of the Attacker. For a species to communicate with Hive Fleet Chimera a host must be given and incorporated into the Hive.

Disrupts warp travel and communication? This sounds delightfully horrible for me.
ACCEPTED!

Oh yeah, I should probably point out that if you;re playing as a species that will basically never negotiate, I will be much more lax with the your ship numbers. Because it makes for really good story to have a seemingly unbeatable enemy.

Rarely will I be negotiating. And if I do it will normally only be for completely 1 sided reasoning. And even then a host must be sacrificed for communication.

Yeah haha. Colonies go dark only to be found as airless rocks stripped of all resources months later. The only way you would really know the Tyranids were there is if you had fought them before or if a message was somehow left on the world to be found.

Ships cannot escape, and messages cannot be sent out.

Seems I won't have to worry about the travel and possibly not the communication, muhahah

Speaking of which, it seems my Insect client race won't be too fond of your insect race trying to eat their worlds. I think their queens will be mighty pissed xD battle of the beasts, eh?

Until I regain Planespace technology, but that'll be after a lot of research. And probably lost ships.

Haha :P well I said we don't know how it affects other FTL. Not that it for sure doesn't.

and I think we will have quiet a few battles. Your Genes seem like an excellent addition to the Tyranid Genus

What with alien invaders eating all life, I think this is probably going to come up soon in classic VotS manner (See: Running out of ammo, launching escape pods like missiles, then ramming with warp drive).

Haha :P Genuine strategy.

Also you can literally destroy your own planets when the Nids land to kill some and stop them from getting more biomass

That sounds like something the Boskops would do, with a little help from the Abh and humans of course.

Seems I may have to dig up the Endgame code after 50,000 years plus of it not being used. And with only 32 planets. How depressing :( xD

Wait
How they go from 12 to 32 planets that fast. That is a insane growth rate even for Equestrians who reproduce like crazy.

Uh, what? They held 31 planets and have since set up a habitat world on another, making 32. I believe you are thinking of the number of habitat worlds not including home worlds. There were 12 non homeworld habitat worlds, now there are 13. There are also the home worlds, forgeworlds and hive worlds to count atop that figure. If there were only 12, then the vast majority would be home worlds

"There is a cancer eating at the Galaxy. With each decade it advances deeper, leaving drained, dead worlds in its wake. This horror, this abomination, has thought and purpose that functions on an unimaginable, galactic scale and all we can do is try to stop the swarms of bioengineered monsters it unleashes upon us by instinct. We have given the horror a name to salve our fears; we call it the Tyranid race, but if it is aware of us at all it must know us only as Prey."

YOU WANNA QUOTE OFF, MATE?

"They came, they saw, they conquered. Each minute felt like a bigger horror, and no one understands why they were spared for these abominable trials. They truly are just rats; bullies that swarmed us and killed our greatest feats in a matter of hours. And to those who came before us, they scavenged like the rodents they are. They'll stop at nothing, truly nothing, until they get what they want. They call themselves the Castu, but to us, it we really don't care what they call themselves."

"We cannot live through this. The Galaxy cannot live through this. In a single day they have covered the surface of this planet with a flood of living blades and needle-fanged mouths. Kill one and ten take its place. If they are truly without number then the galaxy is doomed to a violent death before every shred of civilization is scoured away by a force more voracious than the fires of hell themselves! Death! By the Gods, Death is here!"

The Bitch is Back...

Name of nation: The Broodmind

Description of government: Every entity within the race operates as a pawn of an overarching conscious - or Broodmind - that guides them. Every walker and every ship within the Broodmind answers their command without question, serving their purpose with the same unquestioning loyalty as your own fingers and hands to you. Even across the vast distances of space, Broodmind assets appear to be able to communicate both amongst themselves and also with the Broodmind proper.

Description of military: The Broodmind has no military to speak of - at least not in the formal sense that sentient beings are familiar with. The Broodmind is a purely biological phenomenon; a plague of the mind and body that transforms its host into a shambling minion and a thrall to the Broodmind's nefarious schemes. As such, the Broodmind may assume control of armed forces and entire starship crews - allowing surface armies and fleets to come under its command.

Broodmind forces do not tend to follow any rigid tactical doctrine and make only minimal use of any weapons they may commandeer. Larger arms and ship-mounted weapons platforms may be used sparingly to breach defenses and cripple hostile or escaping starships. But the overall intent of any conflict - after neutralizing any threats to Broodmind assets - is to acquire new hosts and secure ever larger quantities of energy and biomass. Broodmind surface assets - often called walkers, zombies, or ghouls - often try to drown enemies in a sea of corpses and their hijacked starships have a disconcerting tendency to ram into target vessels. Because a single Broodmind-commandeered starship is quite capable of infesting entire planets - preventing Broodmind walkers from taking possession of even small, unarmed starships is of the highest priority in stopping and controlling Broodmind infestation. Local outbreaks can spread rapidly across multiple planets if aggressive containment measures are not taken in short order.

History: The origin of the Broodmind is lost to history. Where it came from and how it developed is unclear. But on another plane, many millennia ago, a Broodmind outbreak took a sister universe of our own by storm. A hundred alien civilizations set aside their comparatively petty quarrels and joined to eliminate the Broodmind menace. Although a thousand worlds were destroyed in the great cleansing, the Broodmind was successfully contained and eventually obliterated all traces of the Broodmind from their midst.

But beyond their universe, the Broodmind lingered. Broken, derelict warships infested with the plague drifted for eons in the void of Slipspace. On these shattered masses of interstellar flotsam, dormant vestiges of the Broodmind lingered. Forgotten relics cast adrift beyond space and time by an ancient war, they are doomed to float forever through an empty void.

Slipspace, though, is an unstable place. It follows laws of nature exotic and incomprehensible compared to those of our universe. Currents and rifts form, however infrequently, between Slipspace and the other universes. Through one such rift, one such derelict vessel drifted through into the murky fringes of our own universe. And so a single derelict hulk, with a belly full of slumbering monsters, drifts now among us. Hungry veterans of that ancient war stir within, ready to embark upon a ripe, virgin universe grossly unprepared for their arrival.

Woot woot. Here come the galaxy destroyers.

Not sure if I want to consume you first or last. Your DNA would no doubt serve us well. But your part of the completely evil guys club. .
You even have your own supreme consciousness.

Nah I'm just kidding, well probably end up working together in some way :P even though that's not the normal Nid style.

OH, IT'S ON

"Humanity, a worthless smattering of bigotry and hatred. Every day, thousands die because they dared to say 'No', because they stood up for themselves. I once thought humans could be redeemed, that perhaps one day we could all hold hands as brothers and sisters. On that day we would reach out to the stars, confident that we wouldn't disappoint those twinkling dots of light that have called to so many good people of the centuries. But that was never to be. Instead, the first murder over the word 'No' that made the news caused others to follow in that despicable human's path. They became an accepted part of human society, death over disagreement, murder over refusal! The mindless slaughter never ends, ten million left across the thousand worlds of the Dominion, and more dead every day! Sentient life always ends the same way, in bloodshed! I cannot allow this infection to continue, I will cleanse the multiverse of the plague that is intelligence!"
-Fergus McClain, All series 31513131514 timelines. Unaffected my Multiversal War.

"Stars, twinkling dots of hope in the night sky of my birthworld. They call to me, beckon to me, tell me 'Come home, you don't belong there'. They're right, but I cannot abandon Terra. This world needs me, I will not give up hope on the human species. They have potential, and I won't leave until I unlock that potential! I'll make you proud! I will accomplish the mission I was given so long ago, and not even then shall I return home! I will unite the universe, planet by planet, no matter how diverse the species, we will come together in peace as one great alliance! I don't care that I will have to violate the laws of physics, I don't care if I need to be cursed with truly eternal life, I will enhance the lives of every single being! No... I won't stop at this universe, I will continue onward! The infinite multiverse shall be as one, and nothing will stop my mission of peace!"
-Fergus McClain, all series 85185 timelines. Unaffected by Multiversal War.

"I'm just an explorer, I want to know everything there is to know. It will inevitably have to end in my death, for no living being could ever hope to know the greatest mystery of all; what is beyond the grave. I know it sounds impossible, but I just went faster than light, anything is possible."
Fairlan Miklan, all series Alpha timelines. Affected by Multiversal War.

Oh goody! The Broodmind... hmm, do you think we have room for even more evil?
*appropriately insane laughter*
