Well as long as I get to play my dishonored and exiled knight from a powerful foreign nation I'm okay with whatever.
Edit: I'd also like that nation to be the now evil/invading nation if possible.

Gotta be honest, I'm not a big fan of basing things on stats, if only because it invites dick-waving between players on how their character is better and such. Characters are distinguishable enough through classes already, and adding stats would just muddle things up.

i understand where your coming from, but its also the stats that help make the classes :O im trying to make the stats into a explanatory system rather than for actual combat/roleplay(?) use :O

edit: classes would also have their limitations on their stats of course :O

I agree with Pskyer on this, classes are a much better system for characters than stats if we're not doing a tabletop-type roleplay.

What I meant with the basic stats for classes was this: The reason I wanted people to look at the stats on the website was to get a basic idea of how their class would play, not to have them inserted into the character creation proper.

I would like to join another Fire emblem RP. I was in another not to long ago and this was what we had for a plot and such: http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/226/posts/ic

We worked fine as long as most of us didn't control more than 3 characters and had a few enemies. It died not too long after but we had a decent story that went for awhile.

I'm just gonna wrap up what seems to be the storyline thus far, be sure to inform me if you guys have any issues with it personally:

The PC hero group will consist of a group of mercenary types, and somehow(Be it by getting hired to defend a village, or run into bandits on the road) get involved(Again, be it by battle or hiring) with the increasingly militant actions of a once rather quiet nation that has just come under the control of a new king.

This could accommodate much of the dishonored or exiled-type characters, and opens the way for up and coming heroes who joined the mercs because of the reputation for honorable and just work.
I've taken parts of the original character sheet and simplified it a bit, before adding some things that I liked about Vincanity's former FE RP. This, while not the final iteration of the CS, is close enough so that you can fill it out(Minus, perhaps, the bio for names and places) without worrying about sudden changes down the line.

I guess I'll be the first to post, let me know if you don't like something you see. Naturally all of this is subject to GM approval.

Name: Hark

Race: Human

Sex: Male

Class: Sword Armor Knight

Gender Identity: Heterosexual Male

Age: 25

Appearance:
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 280 lbs
Hair: Long Auburn, with an unkempt auburn beard.
Eye Colour: Dark Green
Full Regalia with Shield
No Shield

Equipment: Tarnished silver knight armor, large tarnished silver kite shield, tarnished silver broadsword.

Personality:Tends to be a little melancholy and quiet, unless he's been drinking or in combat, at which point he becomes a bit of a haughty brute. Genuinely a good person, he tends to hold back and not let himself get hurt. Although he's lost his way, he occasionally falls back into his old role as a defender of justice and equality.

Bio: When Hark was 18 he was selected out of military recruits as a candidate for The Silver Dragon Knights of (villainous nation), an elite group of heavily armored knights, whose skills in breaking lines and holding points are unmatched, so much so that nearly all of the royal guard is selected from this group of knights. Hark was a great success in the Silver Dragon Knights, having been widely noted as one who may one day lead the Silver Dragon Knights. He eventually earned the nickname, "Ironbark Hark." Unfortunately when he was 20, he caught the eye of one of the most influential and powerful noblemen's daughter, who had been promised to the prince. The prince naturally found out about the attraction and challenged Hark on his honor to a duel. In full Silver Dragon Knight regalia, Hark handidly defeated the prince. The prince accused Hark of cheating, and the nobleman, who was not present at the duel, swore that Hark had acted without honor, and had cheated. Hark knew that it was his word against a prince and a powerful nobleman, so he did the only thing he could do, he fled his home, taking only his regalia. He ended up working as a dockhand at x town, hiding his past from everyone he met.

Likes/Dislikes: Likes: Drinking
Dislikes: Reminders of home.

Strengths/Weakness: Strengths: Strong, durable, fire resistant. Weaknesses, he's a little slow, but has good reaction time. Pessimistic.

Other: Unbeknownst to Hark, Hark is of an ancient lineage, known in the ancient times as "Forgeborn." This makes him resistant to fire, and perhaps a few benefits later.

I wish my brother hadn't gotten rid of his spreadsheet, but if any of you remember the FE tabletop RP that was running on this site a few weeks ago my brother Light had a beautiful system that near-perfectly recreated Awakening's engine with extra classes and re-balanced classes/skills. Then we'd be able to have a perfect stat-based RP. I can see the need for a stat-based RP anyway, but perhaps we could make this stat-less and focus on the story more? I'm fine with either way, and in the event we do stats I'm sure my bro can pass on some of his engine knowledge to me so we can figure things out more easily.

The plot idea I'm good with, though for when we get caught in the war it could be the invading army meddling in affairs.
In Fire Emblem 9, part of what got the Mercs involved was that the invading army treated anyone not already fighting for them as the enemy.
Granted there was also the thing about finding the princess that the invading army wanted, and out of morality didn't surrender her. But given how the army acted it's to be assumed they would of been at conflict one way or the other regardless.

As for Character Creation? I'm a bit too tired to focus on making one atm, so I'll wait until morning before making mine.

However, something that did dawn on me. If you do look in fire emblem no two characters (even of the same class) give the exact same stats. Each person is stronger and weaker in different areas compared to others. In which sense I'd suggest an alteration to the "Strengths/Weakness" section.

Basically pick one or two stats you are above average in if you want (but not say extremely, so no Myrmidon is as tanky as a Knight, nor a Knight as fast as a Myrmidon etc.). But for each stat you choose to be higher than average you also pick one that's below average. These stats still won't have numbers assigned mind you, so stuff like people bragging on statistical superiority shouldn't happen. It's simply mean as an extension of the class to act as a guideline for your characters fighting style, thoughts?

That would be nice and something I'm up to trying. But given how many here want to avoid stats it would probably have to be a separate RP.

All I meant is that if everyone's for it it's an option to try. If the general consensus is to play stat-less that's perfectly fine since I'm already co-GM'ing a heavily stat-based RP right now.

Need to sleep for work but getting a few bits up. Also, sent you a pm tentaclelord, in case you hadn't seen t yet. There not exactly notifying lol

Name: Alice Von Scmitt

Race: Human

Sex: female

Class: General

Gender Identity: Female, but tomboyish and acts like a man.

Age: 42

Personality: Blunt, straight to the point, and wont hesitate to say what shes thinking regardless if its rude or not. On the outside she can be rather harsh sometimes, but she does have a soft side if you can get to know her.

Likes/Dislikes: Alice likes "hanging out with the guys" rather then gossiping with other women or other things of that nature. this would include drinking and having the occasional brawl as well. many a sailor has lost their money wagering that she would loose a fight. She severely dislikes being treated as a "proper woman", preferring to be treated like any other man out there.

Strengths/Weakness: Excels at combat, has an amazing ability with lances and swords, and has some skill with axes and bows. Isn't the best with her peoples skills, is slower then most in combat, and is easily flanked when alone.

Other: hopes to one day find a Hoplon Guard to replace her shield. (rather then become immune to crits, would just reduce effectiveness of armorslayers)

Name: Ereshk

Race: Human

Sex: Male

Class: Dark Mage

Gender Identity: Male

Age: 22

Appearance:

  • Height: 5'10

  • Weight:145 lbs

  • Hair: His shaggy black hair is wiry and coarse.

  • Eyes: Dark brown.

  • General: Between his pallid skin, scrawny frame, and slender fingers, it would appear Ereshk has never worked a day in his life. His hair is often unkempt, and the dark rings of insomnia plague his eyes.

Equipment:

  • A well-worn hooded traveler's cloak. There is a faded crest on the back of a raven in flight, with three feathers floating down. A motto is inscribed below in a foreign runic language.

  • An absolutely massive grimoire bound in dark leather. The cover and spine have an elaborate Celtic knot for a title. It is entirely written in the same runic language as the motto on his cloak. Ereshk has a leather pack specifically built to holster the massive tome while traveling.

  • Silver-framed glasses.

Personality: He is cheerful and generally quite amicable when talked to, though he does not usually initiate conversations on his own. He prefers quiet intellectual discussions over rowdy group parties.

Bio: Ereshk is a scholar and an avid student of magic. He has been apprenticed to a rather powerful sorcerer in Vinsenia ever since he was a child. As the final task of his apprenticeship, the scholar has been sent out into the world at large to discover a new aspect of magic that his master does not already possess. The crest on his cloak is the sigil of his master.

Likes/Dislikes: He likes tea, the scent of old parchment, and staring up at the stars on a clear night. He has an intense dislike for blood and gore, and prefers to avoid conflict at all if possible. Ereshk also dislikes horses, and has very little skill with riding one.

Strengths/Weakness: If a mind needs books like a sword needs a whetstone, then Ereshk's mind may very well be the sharpest blade in the armory. He has a wide array of trivial facts stored away from his years of study, and his skill with magic is quite impressive. However, his scrawny frame is physically frail, and he simply does not have the constitution to weather blows in a fight. His spellbook is also easily the weight of a battleaxe and just as unwieldy, making him laughably slow compared to others.

Other: The sigil of his master might be known to anyone who has studied magic or the history of Vinsenia. I'm open to more private development of the master and his (or her!) order if it ties in to/might interfere with your plans, TentacleLord. Otherwise the master will just stay in the background. If we're picking stats, his Magic, Skill, and Resistance are above-average, while his HP, Defense, and Speed are below. His strength is also low, if we're keeping it separate from magic.

I saw, and I'll respond to your inquiry here. As stated before, I'm open to a Co-GM. Therefore, shoot me some ideas or post them up here for the story, and I'll just select a Co-GM that way.

Just a few minor flaws in your CS, namely in background and weapon choice. Simply put, he's a tier-one sword knight, correct? As a tier-one, having both the skill and access to silver weapons is a bit OP. As for the the Silver Dragon Knights, I have no problem with this existing, but as a simple knight, wouldn't he be more like an apprentice or squire rather than a full member?

Other than that, no problems thus far.

I would reccommend picking on world/list of classes for us to use. Things get muddled thanks to changes to each game. You could also take a relatively unplayed world, like Magvel (Sacred Stones) and use it as a good base to start with. Either way I'll be basing my CS's off of Awakening weapons and culture.classes since they found a way to combine every other game in it.

Well the idea was that she was a night who retired before making general. So almost. Was thinking she might "evolve" into a general later. Or I can just make her a general if that's easier 0: would be able to use high tier landed, and mid tier axes, swords, and bows at that point. (Based of sacred stones generals)

Examples of Knight

Specifically look at the box to the right, what it promotes from and into varies each game.
So this is bound to cause a lot of confusion, we should probably pick a game (9 or 10 due to Laguz I'd suggest) as a base to get our classes off of.
If you want a class not from those fire emblems we could find a way to work it into another promotion tree.

Thoughts?

I kind of forgot that silver weapons are actually a thing in Fire Emblem, was just thinking for roleplaying purposes instead of actually having it be more effective in combat or whatever. Also, it is tarnished. I just like the idea of at one point being decked out in full shining silver, and now has fallen so low as to not even care to upkeep his equipment.

Additionally, he wasn't the leader or anything, and he was already a squire before becoming a recruit, after all, he was recruited right out of the military. I simply mean that after 2 years he had proven himself enough to have gained acceptance and use of the regalia, effectively a full member. Perhaps this rapid rise through the ranks was part of the reason he fell so far and so hard.
