*Personality: Although he is getting up in the years, Sazh has a fairly youthful and lively nature about him, being a well-hearted and caring individual. While Sazh may have a tendency to play the jokester (even in life-threatening situations), he is very level-headed and more often than not acts as the voice of reason and common sense. Sazh's sense of justice is also quite strong, allowing him to be as forgiving as he can be relentless to protect those he cares about. Sazh's primary motivation in life is to be a good father for his son, Dajh, to the point of being selfless.
*Skills:
- An adept airship pilot, able to pull off some high-speed maneuvers.
- Highly proficient with dual pistols and rifles, able to fire rapidly and/or accurately with ease. His ultimate skill, Desperado, uses seventeen piercing shots in combination to deal intense damage.
*Powers:
- Highly enhanced resilience, due to being a l'Cie.
- Capable of unleashing various magic abilities:
> Offensive bursts and explosions of fire, lightning, and wind.
> Channeling such elemental magic through his or others' weapons to bolster their power.
> Augmenting the physical traits of himself or an ally, temporarily. Only one buff can remain active on a person at a time.
- Complete command over his Eidolon,
Brynnhildr. Once summoned, she can aid Sazh through powerful fire techniques, either in her humanoid form or in her racecar-shaped
Gestalt Mode. This can only approximately be used once a day.

Vega 42 handguns, capable of being merged into a strong rifle.
- His Eidolith: A feather-shaped crystal that can be broken to summon Brynnhildr.
On the floating world of Cocoon, Sazh has lived a good amount of his life as an airship pilot, only slowing down to settle down in a family life with his wife and son. After his wife died, Sazh was left to gladly look after the young boy, Dajh. During a visit to Euride Gorge to see a Sanctum fal'Cie, Sazh leaves Dajh momentarily to obtain a chocobo chick as a gift, only to later discover that his son was turned into a l'Cie in order to counter a mystery invasion of opposing Pulse l'Cie.
Dajh was soon thereafter put into PSICOM custody, where it is discovered that Dajh has the ability to sense Pulse entities. When Dajh ends up discovering a Pulse fal'Cie, Anima, in the city of Bodhum, Sazh realizes that PSICOM will end up abusing Dajh's abilities to no end, and so ends up among other individuals looking for act upon the Pulse fal'Cie; Lightning, Hope, Snow, Vanille and Fang. In the ensuing battle, Sazh and his newfound allies are all converted into l'Cie.
Whilst on the run from PSICOM, the Guardian Corps, and the hand of the Sanctum's Primarch, Sazh and the others end up discovering the truth regarding all things Pulse, and discover their grim destiny as l'Cie: to unleash the destructive event Ragnarok, destroying Cocoon, the Sanctum, and everything they have created. With little other choice, the group fights their way against waves of chaotic Pulse entities to reach Sanctum's core.
Just as the l'Cie seem to give in, and Ragnarok is about to engage, the group's powerful will gives them the strength to shed their destiny, and rebel against Ragnarok. In the act they forged themselves a new destiny: save Cocoon. The ultimate, decisive battle shook Cocoon and toppled it from the sky, but the sacrifice of Vanille and Fang ensured that Cocoon would not perish. Their roles as l'Cie fulfilled, Sazh, Lightning, Snow and Hope all turned to crystal, only to awaken normally no less than a day later.
Except Sazh has awakened somewhere far different, someplace beyond even his own dimension. How will Sazh face this new world, in his effort to find a way home?
*Others: The chocobo chick Sazh bought for Dajh remains in Sazh's possession, roosting within his afro. The chick itself is quite agile, able to fly for a limited time but all the while capable of moving very fast. She seems to sense emotions, and is willing to cheer up Sazh whenever he's feeling grim.
