Yeah, no. Kerry already confirmed at RTX that the scene with Ruby holding a "motionless" Weiss was simply a gag that Monty had placed in the trailer. It was a bit of a poke for the White Rose shippers out there, I suppose.

*sigh* If I got a quarter for every time someone complained about RWBY's animation...

Well it isn't just the animation. There are various items that RWBY struggles with. In fact there is a lot that RWBY struggles with. Now I can understand animation because RoosterTeeth does not have a lot of assests that some other companies have. They don't have loads of artists drawing and rendering out backgrounds, characters, etc. Everything is generated in a program by what, two people?. Which is fine and can sometimes have its own charm. However, that means RWBY has to shine in other categories like writing, voice acting, or setting. Unfortunately it doesn't.

Voice acting is off, but that's because there aren't really too many employees that have experience. That will change in time so it will improve. The writing could be better. Bits of dialogue seem unnatural and this drags down the voice acting as well. Also some of the forced anime and character clichés aren't just... enjoyable. The setting and environment is okay. It isn't too unique and some of it is bland, especially considering that any non-essential personal are just black, unidentifiable figures.

Now that is just some criticism I'll throw at it. I would absolutely love to see them improve upon it and make it into something great. They don't have to wow me with animation but wow me (and a lot of other critics) with the writing and story elements. Good, interesting, and natural writing that lends itself to a unique story experience and then have the voice actors really feel comfortable and sell their roles and lines well. Then it would be something worth writing home about.

I just enjoy the show too much to notice many, if any, faults. I noticed small things, like when Ruby had two Crescent Roses.

And that's fine, I suppose. The problem with that is that many of RWBY's fans blindly love it and praise it. Every bit of it. Well... you don't really get any constructive criticism if everyone is saying "Best thing since sliced bread!". A lot of RT and AH fans are like that.

Luckily I was raised better than that. I see its faults but just accept them, like a significant other's quirks and faults
Although this does get me thinking of the reason I left RWBYForums. After Blake and Weiss fought in Black and White, everyone so blindly and quickly turned their anger on Weiss. Seemed I was the only person on the site who saw the confrontation from both sides.

Sure that's great trait to have when looking at the animation. They are limited but I just absolutely hope they shine where they can, like story-telling.

Yea I tend to avoid communities that aren't comfortable with criticism. RT's subreddit is like that. RWBY's subreddit is like that. For some reason, criticism is a bad thing to a lot of fans.

Now I do like Weiss. Her character proves to be the most interesting to me. She seems to be the most fleshed out with a distrust of Faunas(?), seemingly bitter feelings towards her folks and people in general, and Kara of all people voices her. Kara isn't bad (at least from what I remember) but again, I'm looking forward to her improvement.

Well I'm glad they included it. It is a very human thing and even though it was a story trope, it was nice to see some tension that didn't involve fighting.

Can someone please tell me why this show is so liked? From what i've seen, it's just basic "comedic" troupes with fighting every once in a minute. And they aren't even overly bastardised to the point where they can be considered ironic.

*shrugs* I dunno. But at least the series is better than any Michael Bay film. I love the characters more than anything, especially to more complex ones like Blake and Weiss.

I like it for the music and the weapons.

A lot of people obsess over it (namely the "weaboos") due to the attractive characters, decent voice acting/animation and the weapons/combat. A lot of people also hate RWBY for being exactly what you said it was: a series of comedic troupes. Unfortunately, people are expecting a little too much out of this series. There's only a number of people working on for one, and two, it's only in the second volume (not even the second season).

It has some development to go, that's for sure. A lot of people consider RWBY an impressive achievement with interesting characters and a complex world design with so much to explore and play with. That may be why it has such a huge fanbase (also people love infinitely shipping the girls together for no apparent reason). I hope that helps answer your question.

I can't really see any of these things. Not to mention some people calling it "Anime" (...) Also, again, there are also way too many things that are no longer funny. Not to mention the characters aren't as complex as people like to believe.

Oh no. RWBY definitely comes short for interesting characters and lore. Everything is rather shallow and only like three characters a smidge of depth. The setting and lore get praise by some for being unique but it isn't that unique. The greatest reason for RWBY's popularity is the youth of RoosterTeeth's audience. Most are young kids and will eat everything up that RoosterTeeth produces and RWBY is no exception because girls lawllawllol.

I kind of agree with. Not to say the show is hopeless, though I was easily bored by volume one. Characters like Nora, Penny and Sun bother me, solely due to the fact that they are fanbase fuel and are in my opinion, quite shallow. I also find the main character to be more boring than lovable, as well as a crapton of tropes. Not to say I don't like characters like Blake and Weiss, who in my opinion, seem like they have some development in the future. Same with characters like Jaune and Pyrrha.

That said, I have immense dislike for the RWBY fanbase for obsessing over fictional pairings. *shudder* Ugh, Tumblr.
