What's her stance on undead creatures? Actually, what's the Church of Vexa's view on them in general?

They tend to view the undead with pity rather than scorn and necromancers as committing one of the worst crimes. They believe that when somebody passes away that they return to the arms of the Mother Goddess and that to rip a soul away from the Mother Goddess is akin to stealing a child from its mother's arms.

More so, the act of necromancy is to attach a departed soul onto a body that is no longer in the image of the Mother Goddess, part of why you might her Atalee call one an abomination or a monstrosity. According to the Church, people are created in the Mother Goddess's image, but after the soul has left the body, that body begins to decay and return to the earth. It is no longer meant to be home to a soul, and thus, attaching a soul to that body is to create something impure.

It's definitely pity rather than scorn. Any Templar would return an undead to the Mother Goddess, but there isn't a consensus on how the Church should handle intelligent undead. Although it views the undead as abominations, it also believes that people have an inherent right to determine their own destinies. At least in theory. Some Templars are a lot less tolerant of the undead, believing that it's for their own good that they return to the arms of the Mother Goddess.

As a rule of thumb, the Church believes crime to be against the common good rather than against the Church or even the Goddess Vexa. They believe that the crime is in the suffering imposed upon the victim rather than against, again, either the Church or the Goddess. In the act of necromancy, the crime would be against whomever was resurrected.

Atalee herself has never encountered an undead before, having only been travelling the surface world for about a year, but we can assume her stance is (mostly) similar to that of the Church.

Sweet. Looks like things are relatively ready to roll tomorrow, nice job everyone. I like our party's variety. Sand, I'll add him to the roster, just make sure you come back and finish preferably soon. And thanks, Mad Hatter, I could not remember for the life of me how to correctly do that. I do like Ampharos' idea of a PC Repository, and was prepared to both make a Repository and use Mad Hatter's list, but that felt redundant. If you guys wanna keep a log like I'm doing with the quests, feel free. It'd be cool to go back and read characters' actions from their sheets, I think- especially if it was journal-style or something.

I think a repository would be preferable, yeah. It'd also keep the first post a lot cleaner, but either option works.

I think I'm going to do that anyway. I'll still use Mad Hatter's list in it, too. May be a little redundant, but hey, like you said, it cleans up the first post. EDIT: Here it is. I'll have to update the links as they're posted in the new thread, but as of now it clears up some of the first post.

If anyone ever drops or disappears, I'll let you know.

Oh yeah, and the IC is being written at this moment. For organizations sake, I think we should put the location our character is in at the top of the post. Won't need to be specific, unless we're in a town, village, castle, what have you.

My laptop still hasn't come back from repairs (HNNNNNNNG) so, I'll see how much I can do with my mobile in the meantime. Will most likely just have to make a lot of edits.

On that note, I'm curious to know what everyone's character's alignments are. Do we actually have any characters who identify as evil?

Ulgahk is probably Chaotic Good, given that he's acting with the party, but more for his own religious reasons. He doesn't care about the world, more that what everyone's doing may help Regna and his cause.

Cornelius would love nothing more to watch the world crash and burn, but for more obvious reasons, refuses to publicly express it. Because he keeps his deep hatred for the world so bottled up inside, it tends to manifest itself in unforeseen ways, such as the unwarranted killing of a slave, or him displaying an incredibly strong will to live that defies even medical explanation. But in the end, he is just a victim of his father's indoctrination and exploits. So for this reason I'd say that Cornelius falls somewhere between Lawful Evil and Neutral Evil.

Also, can't wait for the RP to start. I doubt I'll be the one to get things rolling, but I will follow suit.

Well, I'll join the wagon. Deliv is True Neutral in my eyes. Perhaps towards Neutral good, but we'll see.
Also, no pictures from me because I... Suck. Horribly. At drawing stuff. I did try, but... No. I'll make descriptions in my posts to compensate.

So apparently a tornado decided to show up around these parts. If I'm not present for a day or two, you can blame it for everything.

EDIT: Turns out it was a really weak tornado. So I'm alive and also a little disappointed.

Panquake might be a little busy. Gives us time to prepare our posts, I suppose.

Boy that was a short first IC. It felt longer when I was writing it.

Anyway, I had an image of the city in my mind but I wanted to try and keep specifics on the down-low to allow for some freedom when the characters walk through the city.

So now I'll mention post lengths- I don't enforce any, though I will say I'm not a fan of one-liners or one-paragraph posts. Its situational, though; obviously, in a combat situation it can be pretty tough to write more than a paragraph or two. So I don't enforce any post lengths, but try your best to keep it over a paragraph.

Also, remember to put the location of your character at the start of the post in italics, like so

Underdeep- Mustering Hall

That makes it a bit easier to keep track of where everyone is. For the first posts, just make sure it ends with your character in the Mustering Hall. How you get there is up to you.

Awesome. I'll try to reply tomorrow.

Roughly how many other adventurers are present in the hall? A dozen? Just us?

About six or seven- all young dwarves looking to recover artifacts of old Underdeep. In any case, not over a dozen- most citizens of Underdeep are content with their current lifestyle to risk go adventuring.

Hey Panquake, have you considered setting up a TitanPad for this?

I've heard it mentioned a few times before on other threads, but I'm not entirely sure what it is or what it's used for.

EDIT: Anyone else thinking that picture in the IC would make a sweet-ass metal album cover? I'm getting that vibe from it.

It's like a public word document. You just go to the site, make a public page, and then give us the link here. Really useful for any collaborative posts.

EDIT: My IC is up. And I managed to do all that on a goddamn mobile.

My fingertips are numb.

For what purpose? I sometimes use pads for RPing, but anything we might need can be done here, I imagine.

In case any two of us need to collaborate on something, like dialogue or an action scene. I find it easier and more enjoying than sending drafts back and forth until you get it right.

Holy shit, Max. The sacrifice of both of your thumbs will not be in vain. I've never seen a person more committed to making an RP post.
