HOAH replied to my questions and I have confirmation on a few things, but nothing is still concrete unless otherwise stated since he may still change his mind, but so far here is what I know

1. Classes are open to anyone as long as they pass the requirements for that class so everyone can be with anyone in a class regardless of year and house.
2. Everyone has access to their own private dorm room, but there's still sharing involved with other students.
3. There will be Ghosts.

Wow I didn't expect the relationship sheets to be received so well ^^, now you all make me want to start my own despite being busy.

Ah, I was wondering when somebody would mention that.My problem is that the idea of casually using a picture of a real human being for such a thing disgusts me, I would really rather leave the roleplay than do so.@GM, would it be acceptable for me to use a description rather than a picture?

TBH, your character is so interesting that I can let it slide, though I will say that I usually prefer pictures over description since I'm more of a spatial person. To each their own I suppose, though like someone mentioned in thread, descriptions with pictures are best too.

Or we can just only bother with class scenes when relevant to the plot.

Athos said
Yeah... I was wondering about that as well.Like are we all going to be taking the same classes? It wouldn't make too much sense real life wise but it might help with the story since we only have a limited amount of teachers.

Athos said
Yeah... I could never keep a single avatar for that long ^^;Or signature. Or really single anything. Maybe 3 classes for each student? Or we take the same classes but time block style so that you would still see everyone but not at the same time?I don't know, I mean, I could write a CS for a teacher but I'm just worried that my Harry Potter lore isn't exactly up to snuff ^^;I had a pretty hard time just writing the student CS because of that hahaI read the entire series before, it's just been a few years since then.

I like Gisk's idea, though that wouldn't necessarily mean that we wouldn't need a class schedule right? To be honest I am so bad at those, as I always base it off what I'm familiar with from my own schooling, and that definitely doesn't make it easy if I'm having to make multiple schedules and then deciding on who goes where.

As far as the class schedule is concerned I'll have to respond to that a little later, then we'll all decide on what we want. I'm going to be reading the preceding posts, though it should be mentioned that Gisk's idea of plot over classes should be important, as we don't want this roleplay to be all school and no action so to say. Also the two sheets that were posted are also accepted, I'll update the front page accordingly.

Thomas' probable friends:

Nova
Cass
Ben Teague(it's also possible that their parents know each other. Tom's father works very closely with muggles and is also heavily involved in integration.)
Kwes(the two of them together would be the definition of chilling)

These are people that I think it's likely he is already fairly close to.

Basic opinons on some things that have been talked about:

I also got the impression that Kingsridge is more higher learning than high school. I wrote my character under the assumption that he's already a fully qualified wizard, and is merely continuing his education. I would reckon it's a lot more like college than high schools. Which makes me wonder if there's a uniform? I thought probably not.

Hogwarts itself actually didn't have anything like core classes after fifth year. After taking the OWLs everyone was free to drop or continue any classes they wanted. Neville Longbottom, for instance, actually couldn't continue a class(I think Potions off the top of my head) past fifth year because of his test scores. Do we have OWLs and NEWTs in America?

ben would like to be friends with thom but my plans for going to the library today to write and post my RS has been foiled by having to dog sit. so that has been postponed until tomorrow.

ps. i joined thinking our characters would be the equivalent of 4th to 7th year hogwarts students acording to the age range given.

Nah, Kingsridge probably has its own tests. We need to come up with some acronyms... (B.U.F.F.A.L.O.? F.A.L.C.O.N.? I'm trying to think of something that's talked about in Shamansim, but those are too long.)

Oh, and I have a rather important question for you, HOAL. You say that this is taking place far enough into the future that the characters of Harry Potter are all either quite old or dead (so, 2050+, I guess), but when did the big reveal and the start of integration happen?

My character's mother played an important part in the original push for integration, and you say there have been "new generations", so... It was thirty years ago? More? Basically, part of the character's backstory is that she was among the first openly magical students to attend Cambridge, and I want her to be in her mid-to-late fifties at the time of the RP... So, if she was twenty-five or a little older when the initial integration happened, that would make sense, right?

She enrolls at Cambridge at around twenty-six or seven, and it's now thirty years later, so she's around fifty-six.

So I'm gonna come out right and say it, with work and everything I've been a little busy, but I have been rereading the posts that have been posted while I was away, to be honest, I'm a little confused on what everyone wants, and would like an explanation on what most people agree with. Not trying to be lazy here or anything, I read everything it's just that the ideas is all too jumbled in my head to make a concise decision, after that either I or all of us can make a agreement on what seems best for the roleplay, as I would like to make the first post tomorrow or Wednesday with the time I'll have on hand.

@Imperfectionist I was going to make a bit of background of how the world as our character's know it came to be in the first post to this RP, (it was also the reason why I made Biographies optional on Character Sheets), but since you asked I'm happy to answer. I would say that the push for integration happened in the 2020's, I would also say that the movement was similar to that of let's say of a Civil Rights movement (i.e segregation, rioting, violence, protesting, laws passed, even maybe genocide in far less accepting societies), so the scar of that struggle still resonates strongly in Wizards and Witches 30+, and continue on in other places were such a thing might still be occurring. So I have no problem with that idea, in fact it fits rather well.

If you want to set it up and edit it to where they are already good friends on the Relation Sheet, I'm down with that~

Anyways, HellOfALife, I'd prefer a set up that only bothers with class scenes when relevant to the plot ya know?

That's just me though.

EDIT: Since I'm already editing my Relation Sheet to include the new guys, I'll just change it to where it says Kwes and Thomas are friends as well. If you want me to change it back to where they are just on friendly terms and not actually friend friends, just let me know and I'll put it back ^^;

I just want to know who's taking what class with regards to oriental, shaman, natural, and voodoo classes. They're unique to this story so we should at least use them.

:) That's just perfect, HOAL! Thank you.

As for what I want, well... I believe that the school, as it has been described, would be well-served by going a couple of years past the high-school grades. Some of the students, and this is just my opinion, should already be fully qualified Overts (Overt=Magical/Subtle="Muggle" or nonmagical), and learning truly advanced magic in their preferred fields. Again, my opinion, but I think it would fit.

As for the details of how the classes would play out, I think the teacher players should get together and discuss if they are willing to do a bit of research and put effort into actual interesting-but-succint lessons... If not, the lessons should be relegated to the background, and we won't have to worry about who is in which class. Everyone can just pick one or two of the Four Arts as a main focus, and we'll assume that most people have taken DADA and Charms and what have you.

I'm with Imperfectionist. If we focus on any classes, it should be the four special ones. But only if the writers in question actually put the leg work into it.

I agree that the main four classes should be focused on My only concern is how the classes are going to work for our teachers.

well i guess that would again fall back on our gm to either warrant literary freedom as so they can write the class to their best imagination or give them a guided itenerary to follow.
