The year is 20XX, the future of the wizarding world has provided Wizards and Witches alike the chance to intermingle with the Muggle world, meaning that, unlike how it was previously where magic was seen as nothing but a childish fantasy, now magic exists as a very solid concept in the Muggle world. Magicians are able to use their magic without being forced to hide from the other world. Obviously, such a transition was not easy on the wizarding world’s part, and the old time era bias towards Muggles in general, but with new generations it is safe to say that this mind set has almost been abolished. Yet, this society is not perfect, underneath this era of equality and awareness, exists a burgeoning movement. Conflicts between The Congress of Magic, The Ministry of Magic, and Magical Institutions around the world has arisen, the organizations has proven that their original purpose has been twisted, and they have grown resistant to the intermingling of Muggles and the World of Wizardry. This is a cause of the uprising of the Fraternity within the ranks of Aurors and Agents, an organization that claims to be loyal to the superiority of Wizards to Muggles. As such, they seek to return the magical world back to it's previous state or call for the dominance they believe their kind deserves over hte Muggles. How they plan to do this or what these threats mean has yet to be seen, but the Fraternity has been seen as a major threat to several educational institutions, as they wish to influence the younger generation.
Kingsridge School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, is located in one of the most boisterous, and often time overwhelming cities around, New York. It is considered to be part of the small collection of Ivy League Wizarding schools in the world, offering invitations to students all around the country, and offering the most diverse catalog of magical arts. Kingsridge; much like the famed Hogwarts is split into Houses, although each of the houses is dependent upon differing areas of magical study. You play a student of this illustrious Academy, here magic is divided into 4 groups: Naturalism, Oriental, Shamanism, and Voodoo. All these areas of study will be studied extensively here, and will hopefully foster a new respect for diverse and complex arts. Though of course not everyone is so welcome to the Academy's attempts at blending the two worlds, and it wouldn't be too far of an assumption to think of it as a target for the Fraternity, furthermore the school has come under the careful watch of the Congress of Magic as they suspect some students come with far more nefarious plots in mind for the upcoming school year. Whatever it may be, the Kingsridge administration would not bat an eye to these threats all the while tending to the impressionable young minds they'll be teaching.
- This roleplay takes place in a future beyond that of the series, though there isn’t a set year, it’s safe to assume that your favorite Harry potter characters are either quite old, or dead.
Not allowing anyone to play canon characters, period.
Although, your character can be descendants of canon characters, just be sure to reserve this in the OOC, if there are too many siblings from the same family, I will start locking these families out for the sake of variety.
I’m looking for literate players who can at least post 1 paragraph in IC posts, though this might turn into a High Casual game
This roleplay will have some mature themes, along the lines of violence, and whatnot, though we should all try to keep it PG-13
Student characters are required to be at least 16 years of age with 19 being the oldest, this will be the set age limit for the entirety of the roleplay. Teachers are allowed to be 25 years or older, also Teachers can be alumni of Hogwarts if desired.
Choose what House your teacher or student character will be in, if we get too many characters in one house then I'll start limiting who can join what (though I doubt we will).
Please if you have any ideas share them, I can't always be so creative and I would like this to be a collaborative type of roleplay.
The Houses in the hider below is kind of bare bones for now, but I hope it gives others an idea for what type of character they want to play.
Not sure what else to put but this list may be expanded or edited later, depending on the circumstances.
Kingsridge Academy is based in upstate New York in the far mountanious regions of the province which are often overlooked due to the provocative city life, and famous boroughs of New York City. Unlike most Magical Academies, Kingsridge accepts students 15 years or older, and serves as a 'high school' of sorts for wizards and witches that show considerable talents and wish to expand their repertoire. The institution is seen as a a rather liberal school, and it wishes to encourage it's students to seek magical greatness by the merit of their freedom. They offer attendance to the school by sending invitations to most eager and fledgling wizard and witches around the country, and they have taken magical arts that would have been all but lost to the western hemisphere of the world. They teach 3 different types of magical not commonly seen in places like Hogwarts, or Beaubaxtons, these are listed below:
Oriental Magic:
Magic that is borrowed form the Eastern Hemisphere and is prominent for it's focus on balancing the soul, and forces of the natural world. Typically those in this House can control animals, utilize magic to bring common objects to life, and the study of the celestial figures that empower their magical spells. House Luna is regarded as having the most alumni who follow closely with it. Although being placed in any of the houses is done on the virtues within each student and not magical aptitude.
Native American Shamanism:
A magical form that would have all been lost were it not for the small amount of schools preserving it's tradition and passing it on. This magic relies on using spirits as a source of both power and premonition, as well the heavy use of the elements, and the healing of wounds. House Astra is regarded as having the most alumni that preserve it. Although being placed in any of the houses is done on the virtues within each student and not magical aptitude.
Voodoo:
A traditional magic with roots in Africa, and which was further spread in places like Louisiana and the Caribbean, this magic places a large focus on items, dolls, charms, potions and poisons, all used to benefit it's users in more ways than one. House Terra is regarded as having the most alumni who choose to undergo it's rigorous course work. Although being placed in any of the houses is done on the virtues within each student and not magical aptitude.
Naturalism:
A term which more or less categorizes the European Latin based magic that framed the Wizarding world for millennia. While the easiest and more prominent, this magic is taught to all students at the Academy to some degree to make sure they fit easily into a career post graduation. House Solis is synonymous with this magical archetype. Although being placed in any of the houses is done on the virtues within each student and not magical aptitude.

No Flaming/Trolling, Arguments should be kept in a friendly manner
This roleplay will be considerably mature, I expect you guys to be just as mature as well, explicit subject matter should be taken to Pm's.

Collaborations are allowed between characters when scenes require focus on two or even three characters that is to keep the roleplay moving forward. This is the best place to do that: http://titanpad.com/ simply click create a public pad, and invite whomever you need to so the collab with. Both of you can write a post simultaneously and then post it when finished.
