Is anyone here rping a Scael- the peaceful, sea people?

sweet news people!! My roommate and I both attend an art college, so I've commissioned him to draw up both the Raevan and the Scael for me, so pictures of that coming soon!

That's awesome! Looking forward to seeing it! :D

Also, my CS is slowly but surely getting finished. It's been a busy week, but I'll get it done soon!

No one is playing Scael as far as I'm aware, Raid. Which is a shame in a way, it'd add a very cool dynamic imo to have someone who would always be the voice of reason in any violent situation.

Well, that and the fact that I <3 Argonians hahaha.

Dext that's awesome! I thought you might have an artistic lean after seeing that map, did you make that too?

I did make the map, just some painty stuff. The raevan drawings are almost done, so those should be up soon

Here's a mockup of the Raevan physiology for you, folks. It's not quite finished, but my roommate wanted something to show you guys before he's done.
Note that they have neither male or females have feathers on their chests. They would usually wear shirts, but for this they are not wearing clothes. Dense plumage covers most their bottom halves down to their knees. More shading and some linework still needs doing, but we wanted to show you guys the basis.



I'll be adding the finished product under the "blessings of the Sentient races" tab once it's finished.

Let's hope people get CS's in. I don't want to see this die a second time.

Regardless, swordfish, I already have seen enough CSs to start up without the ones that haven't submitted yet. So when the deadline rolls around, I can simply drop those who have done nothing, ad we can begin with the people we have.

I like the Raevan drawings. When thinking through their physique for Shani, I did some wing span research and, without magical intervention, physics alone put them with a pretty impressive wingspan. Going by flighted birds with at the approximate weight of a smallish humanoid (~100-125 pound range) and adding the wing weight, they'd need roughly 20-25' of wing span to get enough surface area for flight. I'd originally kind of seen them as having wings similar to the drawings but, after the research, realized they'd need another joint, so instead of coming upwards from the back and then down, the first segment of wing would go down, then up, and then out.

That same line flowed, for me at least, into the layout of Sachia itself. Any kind of structure would probably have larger halls and doorways than needed by a non-winged humanoid, and great rooms would likely be either open air or have significantly higher ceilings to allow for limited flight. Much as movements and gestures are expressive for humans, so would flight be for Raevan. Development on the isles themselves would also probably be less than friendly to non-flighted creatures - i.e. why build bridges, ramps, or stairs? Extending this, I imagine the Scael would have similar aquatic features that simply weren't designed with non-aquatic creatures in mind.

Oh, and update - Warm Regret and I have been working via PM to get things sorted out. Once I've seen the new character, I'll update my CS to sync appropriately.

they do require the usage of innate magics to fly (their blessing being the blessing of flight allows this without a massive wingspan). That is why they don't have that extra joint that is usually required by much larger wingspans.

It's unfortunately still a work in progress, but I thought I should show what I have just to let you guys know that I have been working on it. :)

EDIT: Speaking of which, I'm almost done; just got to finish the place of birth. It'll be up by tonight at the latest.

Don't worry, my character is gonna be up there with yours in terms of age ;)

I also know for a fact that my partner is going to be the youngest yet. :P

Sky, yes, she's got quite a young'un going on there. I find it funny that people with elven characters are making them so young. In elven standards, they would be considered mature once they reached 100. So elves that are 25ish are like toddlers to other elves.

Although that wouldn't matter much unless they were in an elven society, considering they reach physical maturity the same time as humans.

I like having a younger age because if this is a sandbox RP, it gives time for the character to age if it goes on for that long.

Well my character is well into his hundreds but still has time to grow ;P I should be able to post the CS soon, just need to get it approved first.
