Right, well game starts on Tuesday, and we actually have one more player that I'm not having post until a day after the game starts for story reasons. You'll see when it comes up.

I might be interested in joining.
What does the team need the most?
An expert swordsman?
An expert marksman?
An acrobat?

I'm sorry to say, but unless someone drops out and excepting the character yet to be revealed, all slots are full at this time.

Just gonna give a heads-up that I have work on Tuesday, so I probably won't be able to post until very late, if not Wednesday.

Right, well the first thing in IC is going to be a meet and greet type thing, Your characters don't know each other, you've all done work for Hawk, but it's been on an independent basis.

I see an empty tavern?

Only 995 words to go in that picture to possibly get the rest of the context...

I was experimenting with the margin size. Anyway, IC is now open, the game is afoot.

First character to post is the first one to arrive at the safe house, and so on from there.

Ah, there's the rest of the opening post.

Unfortunately it is getting late for me. I'll post in the morning.

Right, now here are a few guidelines for IC. No posting order in general, but no double posting. Minimum of 1 paragraph per post unless your character is talking with someone else's. Also be reasonable with post length, 6-7 paragraphs max is generally enough to convey anything you need to say, though exceptions apply for combat and exposition.

Now, at the moment you have two choices, you can continue to banter and get some characterization in, or you can call it a night. Main story will continue the following day in game.

Right, well that's fine, but the story will be continuing whenever all the characters go to bed, or whenever the next day starts, if everyone else does that then it will be assumed your character has as well.

I'd also like to put it out there that unless there are circumstances that prevent it, like Hagura's camping trip, I'd like to see everyone try to post at least once a day, even if it is just a brief one. This will help move the story along, and help me be aware if somebody just decides to quit. And of course if anyone has any questions or suggestions about the story or setting, you are welcome to ask via the OC, or a private PM.

Okay, if they're allowed to be brief then I'll give daily posts a shot.

I can do the daily post thing no problem I just tend to be very on top of my posting so I try to show a little restraint and let other people get words in edgewise

Hey guys. I'll be the mysterious sixth player that's been kept so hush hush until now. How's everybody doing? Oh, and here's my CS.

Name: Cora Sylvara

Picture

Backstory:
Born in the very heart of the Veronian capital and its political and economic climate, Cora was raised on stories of her father's maneuvering and scheming, passed down from the household servants with whom she spent a great deal of her time. Her father was not a patriotic man, seeking only to increase his own wealth and power, and she learned early that the servants were the best place to find information, and her voracious appetite for knowledge left her always wanting more, never satisfied with what little she could learn from second and third-hand reports. It wasn't long before she took to the streets and social parties herself, playing the part of witless eye-candy as often as orphaned thief or cunning scholar. Her mind was always her greatest weapon, not only keeping up with the machinations of her father and his compatriots but even outmaneuvering them to counter their plots before reaching the age of fifteen.

It was then that Hawk took notice of this new schemer that had seemingly entered the playing field overnight, countering schemes that he hadn't even been aware of until their failure. It took him several months, but he eventually tracked these counter-schemes to their source and was surprised to discover that it was a fifteen year old girl countering the plotting of her father, rather than the elderly, wizened spymaster he expected. In hindsight, he realized he should have seen it coming. While the counter-plots were indeed well thought out and intricately simple, they had the feel of inexperience, and had only ever been initiated against a very select group of targets, that being Regis Sylvara and his associates.

It wasn't until she began training with Hawk that her skills truly blossomed, quickly mastering every challenge Hawk put before her as she grew in both ability and intelligence. She had been training under Hawk for seven years before he revealed his next master scheme, that being the formation of a team of "specialists" for the purpose of countering greater influences than his disconnected network of contacts could on their own. She was hesitant to accept the idea, seeing it as a waste of resources when they had been getting by just fine without it so far, but agreed to participate as a favor to her mentor.

Skills/role in the group: Spymaster Apprentice

Miscellaneous:
While her potent mind makes her extremely versatile, it also has the tendency to make her arrogant and proud, though that pride is usually well-deserved. She can be kind and gentle as easily as cunning and vicious, owing to her intellect and logic often winning out over her emotions and giving her the ability to selectively feel what is required for the situation at hand. This often makes her seem cold and aloof when no other guise is required, a side effect of almost always being more intelligent than those around her.

In combat, she favors the use of daggers for their ability to be concealed, though has also been trained in the use of most other weapons of the time, from swords and axes to bows and darts. While her skill with these weapons is potent, it is only in the use of her daggers and the bow that she can match the skill of other masters, as those are her favored weapons and used most often, while her other skills have only been trained to an adept level.

Heh, the ongoing thing about Solomon carrying so much gear reminds me of this bit concerning an assassin from one of Terry Pratchett's books:

“He sighed and opened the black box and took out his rings and slipped them on. Another box held a set of knives and Klatchian steel, their blades darkened with lamp black. Various cunning and intricate devices were taken from velvet bags and dropped into pockets. A couple of long-bladed throwing tlingas were slipped into their sheaths inside his boots. A thin silk line and folding grapnel were wound around his waist, over the chain-mail shirt. A blowpipe was attached to its leather thong and dropped down the back of his cloak; Teppic picked a slim tin container with an assortment of darts, their tips corked and their stems braille-coded for ease of selection in the dark.

He winced, checked the blade of his rapier and slung the baldric over his right shoulder, to balance the bag of lead slingshot ammunition. As an afterthought he opened his sock drawer and took a pistol crossbow, a flask of oil, a roll of lockpicks and, after some consideration, a punch dagger, a bag of assorted caltrops and a set of brass knuckles.

Teppic picked up his hat and checked it's lining for the coil of cheesewire. He placed it on his head at a jaunty angle, took a last satisfied look at himself in the mirror, turned on his heel and, very slowly, fell over.”

Go read The Night Angel's and when you get to shadow's edge and the final battle in that book you'll understand. lol but yes that's appropriate. I'm like a....middle age version of neo from the first matrix movie. *Walks into castle* "sir are you carrying any weapons?" *throws back cloak* "Holy shh." *doorman takes three knives to the throat*
