Mayt smiled back, definitely feeling more confident with a weapon he knew he could use. He'd blush slightly at the comment that he should always wear it, and he shrugged. "I haven't been around long, and generally everywhere else I've been people looked at me distrustfully for carrying a weapon around. But sure, I do feel better with a weapon I know will work." He says this after the sandwich comment. "And sandwiches would be great." He stretches slightly, before putting his hands back down. He fidgets slightly as he motions for her to lead the way. She did have a map after all.

When they begin to walk, he'd go in awkward silence for a few moments, before speaking quietly, hoping to start a conversation. "I actually only got the sword last year, it was a gift from my birth parents for my twenty third birthday." Despite how casually he tries to say this, there's still a hint that he's distrustful of something to do with that phrase. "It was actually practicing with it one day that I learned I had magic, though I accidentally burned the blade permanently, but I keep the edge sharp, and get it repaired when I need to." He smiles at her, and casually unsheathes the weapon so she can see the blade.

The blade has a nice gleam on it, save for the odd burn. The burn starts at where the handle turns to the blade, about in the middle of the large flat side. It curves very slightly with the blade, but not enough as it meets up with the sharp edge a little more than half the way up, and continues with it until almost the very end, where it takes a sharp curve and goes along the blunt edge to the tip. The mark looks like he's tried to polish it off many times, and there's a very slight shine to it, but it's very dull compared to the rest of the blade, which is regular, save for "Mayt Derren Marris" carved into it. The carving was obviously done by a professional, and before the burn.

"Well I might have a room in the guild, but it doesn't necessarily mean I stay in it forever. I actually spend most of my time outside the guild and staying either in a inn, outside, or in a shelter like a cave when the nature decides to be unpleasant. Rarely do I really come back to the guild unless I'm in need for a job. And it's nice to meet you Angelo." realizing that Angelo had his hand out waiting for a shake, but decided to just ignore it. Wes stepped outside as they continued talking. "So, this vulcan hunting job, tell me more about this. Vulcans are quite interesting creatures if I have to say, why would one want them gone, except for their, aggressive, behavior."

if you want to be technical its because their so aggressive that were going to get rid of them. That and the fact that some old hermit decided to go live with all these beasts in the same area which is apparently freesia island. don't know what possessed this man to go their with the monsters but he's a hermit so you cant really expect much. all we are needed to do is make his new home safe for him as far as I know. also unlike you I do live in the guild hall, you can hear a lot when nobody notices you" Angelo said in a melody like tone laughing a little as he went towards the docks thinking that they would need a boat to get to freesia island although his sense of direction may not be accurate, angelo just knew the name was freesia island so he assumed take a boat and go to the island then he had a thought "hey once this is over you want to hang on the beach and drink some fruity drinks and unwind after a hard day of extermination?" angelo asked laughing a little

Sasha started to walk, leading the way through the streets of Magnolia, towards a food stand, buying them both a couple of sandwiches, and a drink each. Sasha was comfortable with money, having done a few job herself the last month, with at least enough for two months rent, so she could at least rest easy, knowing that. So she was happy to buy them food and drink, and she put them in her satchel, smiling at the server and saying, "You can keep the change". She looked back to Mayt, when he began speaking about the sword. It was clear to her that he needed the blade, if not to only to fight with, but to have some connection to the people that had birthed him. Sasha could understand that, and if Mayt was watching her closely, he would see a pained expression cross her face, before she managed to wipe it off, and paste a smile on her face.

she leaned closer, to study the blade, recognising it as a katana, if nothing else about it. Her eyes were drawn to the burn on it, finding it odd that such a thing could stain such a lovely blade, and she wondered just what Mayt could do with his magic. She supposed she would find out eventually. She smiled, genuinely this time, and looked up "Its a nice blade. And you obviously know how to use it" She said, as she started to walk again, to head out of town, in the general direction of the city without sound. "Which is a good thing. You'll learn how to use your magic too. We were all beginners at one point or another. Some of us were just lucky enough to have teachers. You should ask some of the others in the guild if they can help you with your magic. I would, but I suspect you might melt my magic" She laughed.

Mayt shrugs. "Melt your magic? What, is your magic ice?" He looks inquisitive, and once she's done inspecting the blade he puts it away, it making a nice sound as he does, and he slides his right hand into his pocket, resting his left hand back on the scabbard. "Besides, your magic would probably reach me before I could do anything about it, unless you threw it at me." He smiles, glad Sasha is so nice. He might be able to make a friend here. "I normally can't just do magic on the spot anyway, I have to have some idea something's coming for me. As far as using the sword, I train with it a couple days out of the week, and I was practicing in various places on and off since I was thirteen, with fake ones of course."

He pauses a moment, something in a window catching his eye and he follows it, before returning to the conversation. "Which is weird that my birth parents had known that. I never told them about it." He looks at the street, sighing. "What's freakier is they knew where I was staying for a few weeks, since it had obviously been sent well before my birthday, but the signatures were obviously theirs." He shrugs. "Well, it'll be a mystery forever, unless I happen to stumble across them some time, which is unlikely. I doubt I'd even recognize them." He shrugs again, fidgeting more with the straps and such holding his sword to his waist.

After saying this he lets his eyes wander the streets for a bit, soaking in any eye candy that's around as well marking places in his mind to check out later, hopefully he could find the market as well as some good, small, and cheep restaurants around that he could survive on until he had a solid income. Or at least one that consistently payed for rent, food, and water.

"Vulcans are quite aggressive in nature, especially if something wondered into their territory, but that's their way of living. Just the idea of someone deciding to move and live on such a island doesn't seem like the smartest move, you would think that a hermit who instantly found out about such a predicament would of high tailed it out already. So why would this one stay, stubbornness?" Unsure if he was talking technical again, he just continued anyways wondering if Angelo was caught up. "From what read, vulcans may be a dangerous species, they actually do seem quite intelligent starting with being able to understand our speech and some that even speak it. They can even some can use takeover magic which is extraordinary to know that they can use along with such enhanced strength. With such intelligence, perhaps they could be reason with, don't you think? We could avoid all this violence if they're willing too."

"Freesia Island" Wes thought to himself for a bit. "If I remember correctly, the island should also be near Freesia Town which is a very religious town with their citizens not very comfortable with strangers, but I'm sure we could find someone with a boat that could take us there just in case we can't find a ride here. There is also a suppose thick forest on that island which could make it a challenge to find our rich hermit friend there." Starting to already some boats at the docks, Wes continued. "Either Hargeon Town or Freesia Town should have a boat that could take us there, right now though Hargeon is the closet town with their pier so lets go there. Also to answer your question, I might actually return to my usual detours like the Magic Library before I actually return the the guild. And I'm not much of a big fan of sand so no, you can go back to the guild on your own if you want." He said with a slight cold voice.

Angelo sighed softly "alright, alright. im just saying that we all find our ways to relax mine just happens to be either in a high place or relaxing with a cool drink. believe me I would rather talk to the Vulcans if we could but although they are intelligent that doesn't mean we should let our guard down should they be able to talk with us. so for now lets go ahead and go to Hargeon town to their pier and see about acquiring a ship for the trip. you know the request form actually says that he's stubborn, and you know its serious when the request actually says so." Angelo said as he walked forward leading the way towards Hargeon town to find their boat. Angelo sensed that they wouldn't see eye to eye on some things but that didn't mean that they couldn't find some common ground and build a relationship their so Angelo wanted to know the most basic question that everyone is asked when joining a guild so his voice changed into something more serious but soft hearted "so let me ask you Wes, why did you join phoenix wing? money? fame?" Angelo asked since those were the most obvious choices for most

"Well stubbornness can only go so far, but to think his is they strong is something. Also I'm just trying to point out other ways to find a solution to this job, I already know how dangerous a vulcan can be and from the request it say vulcansss, so we obviously be on our guards, it's just that exterminating doesn't seem like it's the only solution to this kind of problem. Every living in this world deserves a chance to either change or improve with what life sends to them." Wes went silent for a few seconds as he thought about the last sentence he said. "Anyways, why I joined the guild question. The best way I can probably say it is that I stumbled along and found it during my travels. It was the first guild I actually came across and from what I learned of it, I could find jobs easier and continue travel slash move to different places, and have my frequent detours too, all with my own time frame. So to sum it up, I joined the guild because I'm a man who's always used to being on the move and not in one place all the time, the money is just something that helped finance my travels. How about you? without any choices or guesses, why did you join the guild?" As the faint sound of a train started to approach Wes quickly added. "Also, unless you like walking like me, we should also hurry or we could miss the train to Hargeon."

Angelo nodded knowing to Wes understanding his reasoning for joining the guild, to be free as a bird and still earn money on the side to finance it all. At least that's what Angelo gathered from what Wes told him. Angelo looked at him stumped for a wondering what he meant by walking like him till he heard the train start to pass and Angelo quickly made a run for the train " I am not walking all the way to Hargeon!" Angelo told him as he ran as quickly as he could to jump on the train in time as he hung onto the side of the train waiting for Wes to get on before going in himself. Angelo knew he didn't answer his question but he wanted to tell him in a more private setting since the issue was rather personal to him and the only other people he told about his reasons was sasha and the guild master himself, both were very understanding and let me stay as their guard bird on the high beams.

Sasha nodded in reply to her magic, "Yes, I'm a ice molding mage" She said, pondering her own magic for a minute. it was probably true right then that her magic could reach him before he could use his own, especially if she worked quickly, and aimed for a quick knock out. Yet that didn't necessarily mean that she should just expect to win, by doing that, she would surely lose by being over confident.

Sasha contemplated all he had said, as they walked, heading out of the town, noticing him looking about, making a note to ask when they got back to town if he wanted her to show him around. It would be a nice, friendly gesture, and part of what Sasha had done the last month was explore the city. It would be nice to walk through it with someone. "Well, in any fight, somethings going to be coming for you for sure, so there's that" She offered him a smile, and a soft laugh. "Any practice with anything is always benefical" She pondered what he said about his birth parents, and then shrugged "In a world full of magic, there's always a way of finding things and knowing things"

She fell silent, her hand going to a locket around her neck, hidden by her shirt. and clutched at it briefly, before letting her hand drop. "We have a nice walk ahead of us, so if you have any questions about the guild, or the city, just ask" She said after a minute

Lucky just in time, Wes was able to hop into the train to Hargeon before it left the station. Finally on a good path to Hargeon Town, Wes was able to easily find Angelo nearby and went to continue their talk. "Angelo, to continue where we left off, why did you join Phoenix Wing?" Wes said as he then began looking out the window wondering how he could hide his gravity magic from Angelo so he doesn't get any ideas if the time comes. His hand reached out of his poncho as he tried to adjust his bandana around his mouth so that his speech doesn't sound too muffled.

((Timezones everybody. What wonderful things))

Rilr stood at on of the stalls in town. Three of the four pendants in front of him and the fourth in his hand, he'd been able to find a charms master and found it was just a simple enchantment to open certain doors. The thing was Rilr had picked the amulet up in the first or second room of those ruins - how had he missed any secret doors? Either way hew as rather confident he could sell it since his magic made it especially easy to get through hidden passages. He held it up, "How much for all four?" he asked the vendor.
"10,000 Jewels" he replied. 10,000? The magic amulet was worth at least 15,000 on this man must have him for a fool.
"Make it 20,000. This Amulet won't just open any door you know." Rilr replied motioning to his enchanted amulet, "otherwise you can shove your 10,000 jewels where the sun doesn't shine"
You could see the contemplation in the vendors face - as well as the shock of Rilrs last statement - for around 3 minutes before he nodded, accepting defeat. "Pleasure doing business with you." Rilr said walking away 20,000 jewels richer. He really should consider a more stable career.

Mayt nodded, and chuckled, looking ahead. "Yeah, maybe we can take a break halfway there and we can both practice a bit? I have trouble with projectiles." To demonstrate, he leans down and picks up a few pebbles from the street, tossing them up one at a time so that they'll plink him in the forehead painlessly. All but one or two he manages to bring to a sudden halt mid air, as after he passed under them they drop. He flinches when the two he fails to stop hit him. "I mean, if I see it coming well off I have a better chance, of course. But eh, no one's perfect." He gives her a wry smiles. "As far as weapons go, if my sword doesn't stop them, that does."

He rolls his neck, looking as they start to head out of town. "I haven't actually seen my birth parents since I was ten, so it was a tad freaky they knew to send me the sword." He admits, seeming nonchalant about it. "I hadn't even sent them a single letter since I was removed from their custody. But eh, I mean, I sent them one after I got the Katana of course. Would be outright rude not to, but, I wish I knew how they knew." He looked at her, hoping for some glimmer of understanding before he starts asking for the guild and such, and he grips his katana's sheath tightly, his knuckles turning white. He looks as if he's afraid he said too much, and she'd reprimand him or something like that, despite her seeming nice before.

Sasha watched the display of magical power, contemplating how to reply as he said no one was perfect. No one was, that was true, although Master Jamie made of point of trying to be. But then, she was Master Jamie and he gave an air of perfection. Asides from the fact that no one knew his gender, as she prefered to keep it hidden, Master Jamie was a wonderful person, and perfect for Phoenix wing. "No ones perfect. That's why making friends, comrades, and...well, family in a guild is important. It means you have people that will protect you, fight for you and with you, and trust you without needing to be asked" she smiled, contemplating her own words. Phoenix wing wasn't her blood family, nor even family yet, but it was the first place in...more years then she could believe, she felt like she belonged.

Sasha thought on what he said about his birth parents, and she considered what she should say. It was clear he had some issues with parents, and had obviously had more the just his birth parents. It was also clear that he hadn't meant to say what he had said, or was afraid at what he had said, or...gods forbid, afraid of her. That thought was to unfathoamable to her that she burst out laughing, genuine laughter that seemed almost childlike, but she quickly managed to bring herself under control. "Oh, Mayt, you needn't ever be afraid I'll yell it scream at you. You don't have to be afraid of me" she offered him a shy, embarrassed smile, and continued as if she hadn't just burst out laughing when things were serious.

"Magic, generally, is passed through blood. Have you ever considered that maybe your birth parents have magical abilities? Or at least one of them?" She asked "perhaps they have been watching you your whole life, since you were taken from them" she shrugged "one day, you will know. Until then...it's a mystery"

Mayt would pale horribly when Sasha starts laughing, but he'd visibly relax once he realizes that she was just amused by the fact he thought she'd say something mean. His skin color returns quickly, even with a little bit of a blush, and he smiles back, letting go of his swords scabbard and pulling his hand out of his pocket. He listens to her theory about one of his parents being magic, which made a little sense. "Would explain how good my parents were at their... Profession, but it makes me wonder why such a small town, clearly with any sort of magical powers they should be able to carve out some kind of better living right?" He sighs.

"And I don't like the idea of being watched. It's a tad disturbing, but I have to thank them. Having a weapon has certainly made more certain I have food when I get a chance to rest. On the roads at least." He chuckles a little. "Despite not having my parents since I was ten, they were the most competent I had and still the most impacting." His voice drops, as if he's adding a footnote. "Even if I didn't really give any of the others a chance." He looks up at her, then at the road ahead, feeling comfortable traveling again.

He waits a long moment before speaking again, fidgeting slightly. "I guess that's why I joined the Guild, to have somewhere permanent to stay and be accepted. I've been traveling since I was eighteen, and I've made plenty friends, but rarely do I come across them twice. At least, by the looks of it, the guild can provide me with money to clothe and feed myself to boot." He smiles some more, closing his eyes for a moment as they walk, taking a deep breath. Sasha can see him relax a little, and he lets out the breath, returning his head to its normal place.

Sasha looked up ahead as they started to walk, wondering how to address his words. She wondered, briefly, what sort of profession his parents had, to explain how they did good at it. "Even now, Magic is regarded as suspicious. You know the histories. Mages were forced to hide their magic, taking mundane jobs to get by. Sure, people will get us to do their jobs, but they won't ask too many questions, or they'll still be judgmental. So perhaps they didn't want to draw attention to themselves" She mused, looking to Mayt as he seemed to relax, and she smiled.

She got a glazed look to her eyes as she looked ahead, "I was nine when I met my Mentor. I guess you could say he was like a second father, although he was more focused on my magic, then on my other childish needs, like comfort, or learning language, reading, writing that sort of thing. But...he was all I had, and he taught me how to use my magic, as best as he could. His Ice Molding was different to mine, but he still managed to teach me the basics, and teach me that I'd need to be creative. He taught me history. He taught me of the last, three great Magical Guilds. Blue Pegasus, Lamia Scale and...Fairy Tail. How they took down the Evil black wizard Zeref, sacrificing themselves as they did so, and casting doubt onto mages. He taught me what it means to be a guild member, to be a friend, and to be...a part of something. He made me dream of belonging. And with Phoenix wing...I think i can" She swallowed, flinching as she came back to herself, and nearly walked into a tree. She jumped back, blushing, and cleared her throat, changing her course, still walking towards where they needed to be.

She didn't seem to realise that she had just come close to saying out loud that she had reading difficulities, as she just continued on. "If you're going to stay in Phoenix Wing, you have to understand that it isn't just about the money, and the jobs. Its about friendship, and sticking together" She shrugged, "Who knows, maybe Master Jamie knows something about how people can know where someone is. You should ask him, when we get back, if she's back from the Guild Master's meeting" Sasha had, after a few days, adopted the interchangeable he/she when addressing Master Jamie like most other members, and now didn't seem to realise she was doing it.

"There was nothing mundane about their 'job'." Mayt mutters a Sasha speaks, looking downcast for a moment. He fidgets with his blade and looks up at the sky, looking for clouds. He was glad it had been a nice day so far, weather wise at least. He didn't have to worry about if it was hot, he simply displaced the excess heat into the air immediately around his body, or, should he be fighting, around his blade. He looks back at her as she keeps talking.

He was about to pull her so that she didn't run into the tree when she stopped and avoided it, and he gave her a kind of meek look and glances in front of him to make sure he doesn't run into anything, before looking back. He listens calmly as she talks, and doesn't say anything more for a few moments after she stops, contemplating. It's almost a full minute and a half before he says. "Yeah, I'll ask the Guild Master when I get a chance." He breathes out slowly, and clasps his hands. looking kind of tired now, like he's just done too much lately.

He puts on a neutral face as they continue walking, not really saying anything. He twiddles his thumbs a little, and occasionally fidgets with his sword. He looks about the area, it's kind of obvious he doesn't really know where to take the conversation now. After a few moments he speaks, albeit somewhat quietly. "So, what's the job description?" He looks over at her hands. Then blinks, and looks up at her face. "Wait, better question, how can you tell how much magic you can exert at a time?" The question seems to come out of nowhere, but it is a sensible one.

Sasha never really mind silence, it just seemed odd to her, after being in the guild for a while. Still, Sasha had always enjoyed silence, but she didn't mind noise either, and walking like they were, she could hear animals, and other sounds, within the trees as they walk across the road. She looked up when Mayt asked about the job, and then asked about exerting magic. She had never before tried to explain magic, how it worked, or how you could know your own strengths and limitations with it. So she was silent for a time, probably long enough that Mayt would assume she was ignoring him. Which, of course, wasn't the case.

"Well" She started, her voice soft, and dragging out the word as if she were choosing her words carefully. "Magic can be used for many purposes such as offense, defense, supporting, and healing. Magic is used by exerting their Magic Power as a wide variety of spells or by focusing it into an external source. Just because some mage can use healing power, doesn't mean another mage can. You need to have the...disposition to use it I guess. Every Mage has a container inside their body that determines the limits of their Magic Power. So you just have to learn the extent of your own magical abilities. Over time, you'll find that something that causes you to become extremely tired, and unable to move, just becomes an annoyance, and you can do more" She frowned, bit her lip as she tried to explain, but felt she was just confusing herself.

She let out a soft sigh, looking up at the sky, "I guess it could be explained like the sun's heat. During the day, it's powerful, but as it comes to night, the heat of the sun softens, and then disappears, right? Well, if you tried to hold a spell all day, the same thing would happen, perhaps more quickly, or you might even go for hours. It depends how much magical power you exert in each instance. It also depends on the type of magic. For instance, with mine, I don't have to continually put power into my creations, so I can create a lot of molding magic, but with something like Holders Magic-using items like guns or such, have to continually use their magical power to control the guns" She sighed again, looking over to Mayt now, "I guess I'm not doing a very good job of explaining" She said apologetically.

It probably didn't help that she sounded like this was all stuff she had just learned, and that it didn't sound like it was coming from a book. Sasha listened, and learned, and stored great amounts of information in her head, just another way of compensating for her lack of ability to read.

Mayt would listen intently. "That was a fine explanation Sasha. I get what you mean, The limit to how much magic you can do varies based on what powers they use and them personally. It makes sense. And the more they push on that boundary, the bigger it gets." He smiles at her. "And that means I either have a heck of an energy pool or my magic is easy." He draws his sword, spinning it just to show off a little, before holding it out in his right hand. He focuses for a moment, and the blade edge starts to turn orange, like it was in a fire for a long time. "The most tired I've ever been from using magic, I had my sword like this for a few hours, to see how long I could do it. I figured a few hours is longer than I'd ever need to do that, and so I stopped. I was a tad sore the rest of the day though." He chuckles, and the blade returns to its normal color as he sheathes it.

"Of course, that makes sense, if I understand my magic right." He looks at her. "I'm using forces that already exist, just redirecting them. Like with the pebbles earlier, all I was doing was reflecting their motion back at them, causing it to negate itself and stop. And when I'm traveling I wear heavy clothes and just push the excess heat to surround my body instead of be in it. See?" He takes Sasha's hand in his own, and her arm feels very warm near his jacket and hand, but she can feel that both o the objects themselves are a regular temperature. "The only problem is, redirecting it doesn't always work immediately. And whatever it's trying to do happens anyway, like the pebbles hitting my head. I also can only do it in an immediate range of myself, but that's usually enough." He smiles again, and lets go of her hand, letting it fall back to his side. He then looks up from where he was holding her hand, and back up to her face.
